  1. I seriously thought about that one mate
  2. I have the chance of a good one, but not till October, but i think im willing to wait and get the TT on the road, youre absolutely right, the whole plan for the UK TT was to get it back to pristine and as original as possible as it will be worth more in years to come. I think i know what i need to do, just wanted a fresh look over the dilemma :thumbup1:
  3. I thought about that too mate, but i missed JAE last year and looking forward to this one, however i have to be practical i guess, i mean look what happened when i tried to make it to Coventry
  4. Looks really nice Tom, glad you had a good trip
  5. As some of you may know, my NA is knocking badly, oil starvation to the drivers head and would need stripping, i can either convert to a TT using my UK TT as the donor, but after starting it today and having a good look around apart from a respray, new windscreen and catback fitting, it needs very little else and im really loathed to rape it. I have a chance of a good NA engine but not till October and even if i rebuild one of mine it would still be months rather than weeks to complete, so to get to JAE im seriously contemplating now on getting the TT on the road, albeit not looking the best, but its a zed and more chance of getting it ready than the yellow one. By doing this also i get the chance and more time to sort the NA properly and get it to excellent condition all round, rather than trying to rush on the engine change, after all im going to need most of the TT bits to do the conversion which would leave me with almost a shell and althoug it will be stripped for the restoration i would at least have all the parts to complete, rather than having to source another TT engine down the road. What would you do given the options and time frame?
  6. That would be too obvious mate
  7. Yes they are a good deal, ive used mintex pads before, a little more brake dust on the fronts, but a good mid budget pad.
  8. Ok will look into the flywheel bolts, i know they came with my conversion so didnt bother with the auto fly bolts.
  9. New glass makes a big difference eh! looks like a crack in the bottom right next to the tape lol
  10. Oh yes, i dont know why, but i do love them and as the prices are dropping might get one, one day lol
  11. No worries, glad to help :thumbup1:
  12. Ok you will need to remove the auto pilot bushing, so far ive read the best way is to pack it out with grease and use an appropriate sized dowel and give the dowel a whack, the grease forces it out. I was fortunate at the time that the engine i swapped was already a manual, so then you will need to buy a man pilot bushing about a fiver. The flywheel will need its own bolts i cant remember if or why the auto ones dont fit, also some of the bolts are not long enough for the gearbox bolts, will look into it and let you know, its been a couple of years lol
  13. One of my favorite BM's Chris, got any pics?
  14. I did mine on axle stands, the access to get the pedal up under the dash, so seat out, on your back and not much room. I also found a bracket up into the dash iirc hods the reverse beep unit was a few mill in the way of getting the pedal bracket to sit home properly, so i ground off 10mm or so of the pedal bracket and managed to fit much better. There is a write up in the How to and transmission part of the tech section for all you need to know :thumbup1:
  15. The wiring is the easy part lol, getting the clutch pedal in was a pain in the arse
  16. Front 280mmx30mm and rears 297x 30mm, check the vin number, bottom of seatbelt, rear carpet there is a date tag or rear light panel cover has the date stamped on it. Mine is on a K plate, but is actually a 1990, which did orignally have the 26mm front discs and calipers, so i had a mare getting the right pads years ago until i converted to Tt brakes and calipers. As i said it was only the 1990 na that had the 26mm discs, so if yours is a genuine 1993 then the TT discs and pads are what you need.
  17. Hi mate, yes same size as the TT and a few places on ebay, conceptua, being one of them off hand, the early 1990 na had smaller discs at 26mm instead of 30mm
  18. Happy Birthday
  19. Nothing wrong with ebay cheapies, they all come from Hong Kong anyway, whomever you get them from lol the bulbs do deteriorate rather than just blow, so i would put money on the bulb.
  20. Happy Birthday
  21. Great video Vig, must have been a brilliant experience, beautiful day weather wise
  22. Of course i would love one :thumbup1:
  23. Great bit of kit, but for £500 you would have to do a lot of nuts an bolts to pay for itself lol
  24. Nearly there though now Terry, so youre on the homeward journey to getting her finished
  25. Happy Birthday Nicci, all the best
