Bulb type for dash clocks illumination?
I wouldnt bother doing the fuel light with an led as the original 501 filament bulb dims up or down or constantly on, depending on the fuel level. leds prefer a more constant voltage whether dimmed or on full, but dont like the voltage fluctuation created by the fuel light circuitry.

fast idle problem
The Idle air control valve is the cause of some idling problems, have a look at the link to explain. The IACV-FICD solenoid valve . This solenoid controls the idle when you turn the a/c on. It's basically a step up solenoid which increases the idle to compensate for the drag of the a/c compressor. http://www.pexcom.com.au/z32cms/e107_plugins/content/content.php?content.337

Fog Light Switch
Always good to check them all, take them out and check, the trouble with spade fuses is that they look ok from the top sometimes but could have gone in the middle.

Fog Light Switch
Actually you are right there isnt a fog fuse in the footwell, its in the engine bay. Its worth checking them anyway as the there are fuses which may effect the accessory switch of the lighting Have you checked to see if everything else works? Do you have a light on , on the rear fog(illuminated switch), when you turn it on? Unless its still wired wrong, then no power is getting to the switch, so it can only be the relay or fuse.

Fog Light Switch
You might be lucky and just blown the fog fuse, in the footwell next to the accelerator pedal
