  1. He didnt seem too bothered to be honest. I said twice, that you cant test it as another vehicle type, just because mine doesn't exist on the database. I think he knew after i told him, just didnt want to admit it, i probably wouldnt either in his shoes to be honest Im just happy it passed and i can keep driving it lol Thanks Graham
  2. If you do the last 2 in led 501 bulbs, with the relay in place, you will be able to see if it works for sure. It would be good to get a definitive answer though as its a good mod
  3. I they are only any good if you replace all your indicators to led. If you only replace say 2 out of the 6 then the voltage given out by the new led relay will not be enough to power the bulbs in the others correctly, i could be wrong, never tried changing the flasher relay to one of these myself, i just found it easier to use the load resistors, so each led is independent so to speak It might be worth speaking to the company you got it from and asking the question regarding use with all or only some leds
  4. Firstly when you wired it in, it will only work one way ie: live and ground unlike a bulb You need one of these per indicator across the live and ground wire, it is a load resistor and will add the load required to stop the indicators flashing too quickly http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/LED-turn-signal-flashers-Load-Ballast-Resistors-OBC_W0QQitemZ370100581448QQcmdZViewItemQQptZUK_Trailers_Transporters_Parts?hash=item562bb6b448 If you put one of your old ones back in and tried it without the other plugged in, it will flash quicker, less load for the relay. HTH Graham
  5. Cheers and no probs Ike, i have the red leds for the sliders now, so ready when you are Cheers Graham
  6. Cheers Dave, looking forward to that. As for the tester, yep bit of a knob, he has a montego and an old TVR, so considers himself a car enthusiast, but his boss told me his car collection was more like a scrapyard lol, so maybe a bit of penis envy going on there ;) And ive put my leds back in the sidelights :D
  7. Finally passed the MOT this morning, the tester was a bit of a know it all, he tested my car yesterday as a 350z cos in his opinion was the nearest match. I told him that the 2 cars were nothing alike, the engine is a 3.5 for a start and will have cats because of its age. I said how can you test it as another car, no decent reply, just kept dodging a reasonable answer. I told him that i had been reliably informed by a couple of MOT testers that because the 300zx is not on the UK database it had to be tested as a pre cat regardless of age, he didnt agree:xxx: i showed him the print out with pics stating where the manufacturer stamps were, his reply was: that might just be the date the plastic was stamped and not necessarily the date of manufacture of the car. The only thing that convinced him of the date of manufacture was a print out i got from my local Nissan dealer, he punched in the chassis number and it came back with the DOM. I had to take out the white leds from the sidelights and replace with a normal 501 bulb, because he said it looked too bluey, it had to be white I didnt want to come across as a complete arse with this guy as all i wanted was my car MOT'd, That said, now he knows the score i would take it to the same place next year and shouldnt have a problem with the emissions again. I would like to thank those who gave their advice Cheers Graham
  8. Hi Chris, welcome to the club, im sure you can get all the info you need for your issues on here, great bunch of guys. Cheers Graham
  9. She'll be in too much pain to notice lol All the best to both of you Graham
  10. It would be a partial retest and a charge may be payable apparently as i took the vehicle away from the garage. But i will go for the free retest on these grounds And cheers for the info Graham
  11. I get you, thanks for clearing that up for me Cheers Graham
  12. Thanks to both of you, its great to have a couple of MOT testers on side:bow::bow: Re sidelights, after looking at the testers handbook, it only states that the front and rear position lights show the correct colour : Reason for rejection would be: a front position lamp shows light other than white, or yellow if incorporated in a yellow headlamp. Now my led sidelights are white, although they look hid, they are white, its doesnt state in the handbook that it cant be a certain shade of white.
  13. I get what you are saying, Its just annoying that, for instance if our 3 litre cars are within the legal recommended requirement then we shouldnt be charged more. They should just continue with the plan of allowing a more Co2 friendly car have cheaper car tax.
  14. No The V5 just states a Nissan coupe, no mentio of 300zx or fairladyz Thats just it, he's a young bloke, i noticed his certificate on the wall started Nov last year, so probably a bit green or thinks he is doing everything ny the book. Dont get me wrong, if it was a structural or safety issue then i would agree 100% that the guy is thorough, but it annoys me when a so called professional is not up to spec with the guidelines he has to work too. Thanks again Graham
  15. cool :bow: I assume it was computerised, it uses software AVL DIX MOT-UK V1.8.2.1 I also have just noticed in the vehicle model section, he has put 350z model code z33 What abot the sidelight issue, apparently incorrect colour? Thanks again for the info, very much appreciated Cheers Graham
  16. One of the biggest jokes is how they manage to charge you more for car tax because you have a big engine and therefore assume you are pumping out higher Co2 levels Ignoring my failed MOT thread cos of emissions, every car in Britain has to pass an emissions test with a guideline set, so all cars should be under the limit of allowed emissions to pass the MOT, so why try and charge us for higher levels, when infact they wouldnt pass if they were too high. Does this make sense or am i missing something?
  17. Thats what i wanted to hear, so i can tell him in so many words he is a:xxx: How sure are you, otherwise i end up looking like one lol
  18. I Have the V5 in front of me only in section3 under special notes it says: Was registered/used overseas. Declared manufactured 2004 Nothing else on the V5 to indicate anything else
  19. lol yeah these isle of wight monkeys have no idea, i think its cos i knew it wouldnt need anything doing to pass, i tempted fate.:x: A bit of good news-ish, i managed to get a print out of the year of manufacture using the chassis number, which will make it easier to get it through on the no cats front, but im a bit unhappy as ive now got an older car than i thought
  20. If anyone knows his stuff, silverbullet does
  21. Did you adjust the tps and then the reset as above and ended up at 900rpm?
  22. If you have just reset you tps you need the ecu to read the changes first before you adjust the base idle. Turn the engine on, unplug the tps plug on the flylead leave it running for about 20-30 seconds then plug the lead back in, the ecu should then read the voltage change and reset the idle. Idle is between 650-750 depending on whether auto or manual. HTH Graham
  23. Defo look white to me, but after reading the mot testers handbook/guide, it only states that the light colour should be white or yellow, it doesnt mention any shades of white lol
  24. If its been stood for 18 months, get an oil and filter change, check all fluids and check the tyres, it may have created flat spots with being sat so long, you may need a new battery
  25. If its mint, i would say £4k is a good buy, have seen a few go for well above that, which were mint, or claimed to be lol Please either check it over thoroughly or have it checked over properly, it may look mint to the eye, but you need to check the underside, bushes, any rust or accident damage etc.. peace of mind more than anything Good luck and get some pics up if and when you get it Cheers Graham
