  1. I was talking bout the zed generally regarding cat test and emissions, i didnt look at the CO reading in answer to the OP ( apologies there) merely mentioning that some garages unfamiliar with the zed tend to fail on emissions. His EGR is likely fubarred or as Ian stated, cats may be gutted.
  2. The one you linked lol, same as on the rear of mine in my sig
  3. The wings west one yes, same as mine
  4. Wings west is better lol, snowleopard had the front and rear bumpers on his before he sold it, i couldnt quite take to the rear bumper as the ex holes are sqaure, just didnt look right to me.
  5. As Ian stated, the 300zx or fairlady is not on the MOT emissions database and therefore has to be tested as a pre cat, regardless whether you have them fitted or not. As long as its not smoking like a chimney, it will pass a precat test as is.
  6. This may also help lol
  7. That meant to sound sarcastic lol, we are already aware of his intentions lol
  8. BUT, You're not running a business are you? You are breaking a couple of zeds beyond fixing, you lead us to believe.
  9. Normally each dial face has a wire and connector, these all link up (snake like loom) to an invertor, then a dimmer/switch, the invertor is wired to the existing light circuit, either the two screws at the bottom of the dash ( normally for back light bulbs), light pod or to the the circuitry on the rear of the dash. If you have the dimmer visible, check the wires on the rear, these tend to have a wire off or solder come off. Check the switch, which changes the colour and check the dimmer dial.
  10. After having EL dials in the past, its not something i would go back too. There have been improvements visually over the past few years, but nothing yet that ive thought wow, i must have lol.
  11. We are not doing cards this year, or flowers, total waste of money, going out for a nice meal though. I dont believe you need to show how much you care by the amount of money you throw about lol, its like xmas become too commercial and a money spinner for the shops. Ive become a real rebel recently when it comes to spending unnecessarily on shite thats not required to live a happy stress free life:winkiss: Or ive become a grumpy old git
  12. Julia pays tonight and you pay tomorrow for Valentines, make sure its like for like on the price lol
  13. It depends if you are looking for power mods or just a reliable engine that will give you years of pleasure. I feel your thoughts on the knocking, but im sure if you dont rag the arse off it, you will have the time to spend on the spare as Jaffa mentioned. I bought a spare and tarted it up over a period of a year or so and when i had everything needed for the swap i took a week out to do the job. I also did a manual conversion along with a few other bits that could be done with the engine out, hence the week lol.
  14. All the best Richard, ill hazard a guess you and Julia will be going out for a meal and having a few drinks
  15. You could just tart up the spare engine at minimal cost and when ready transplant it into yours and over time rebuild your old engine. Change the cambelt and tensioners whilst out at the very least, vvt springs while cam cover is off. Or go the route 2: strip down spare to block and replace all gaskets, general clean and inspect parts. Route 3 full rebuild, downside, cost, time, knowledge or lack of lol
  16. Always try MJP first for oem parts, he also sources patent parts, not sure whether the plugs are on the list of PP, but worth a try.
  17. A steamer usually works well, but here is a link from the experts lol http://www.tintcenter.com/articles/bt_removal.html
  18. They are still cheaper from HK on ebay and there in, lies the problem. Whether the quality is there or not, most people tend to go for a bargain, some regret it in the long run maybe, but generally like food shopping now usually look for the cheapest.
  19. Doesnt look like cast marks to me. Surely they do some sort of prep before powder coating, de grease etc, they would have noticed some lumps before they started and either informed you or fixed it.
  20. Its something we have discussed about bringing back, but there were never enough entrants and it died a death. We do have quite a few new members now and some old members with new cars or projects, so i will put a post in moderation and gauge the feeling.
  21. A belated Happy Birthday Jane, glad you enjoyed yourself
  22. You cant just borrow a set of trade plates lol, you would have to be a named driver with the company who has the plates, i have a mate with a garage who has trade plates, i asked the same question, when i needed to pick up a car.
  23. How come Qatada can get hundreds of thousands in legal aid to fight extradition, but a mere motorist cant get diddly, the legal system in this country is as bad as the benefit system, totally outdated and certainly not equal in any form.
  24. Laid on the dash but propped up to face forward. I guess its like where you put the tax disc on the window, we are so used to having it at the bottom left of the window, but some have it at the top, some top middle, same for number plates too lol, they have always been in a certain area and attract attention if not.
