  1. Rich, do you have a speedo converter on the back of the dash? Many speedo issues as described in previous post, but also another culprit on imports are the cheap speedo converters faulty or wired incorrectly, if you do have one fitted, when you get your car back, disconnect it and revert back to stock. It will read in kph, but it will help determine if its the speedo at fault or the converter. I changed to UK clocks which on occasion i still get an intermittent speedo in the winter when its really cold, in the warm or summer it works perfectly, which also indicates a dry joint on the board, as you know the tracks/solder can contract or expand in extreme temp changes and if there is a dry joint, its the first thing to give way. And as you are an electronics genius, i have no doubt at all that you can sort it lol
  2. IIRC there was another case where this has happened, a dodgy earth or corrosion somewhere on the back of the fuse board in the footwell. I will do some searching and see if i can find it, may be a JeffTT post.
  3. Hi Kim, nice to see you back, would be great to see you again at JAE and have a catch up, looks like the keeping trim regime is still doing well, keep up the good work
  4. Chime box wont affect the steering, the speed bong comes in at 112mph on jap imports often the chime wont come in if the ecu has been chipped and the speed and rev limit removed. The dry joints on the speedo board is normally the culprit to affect power steering and intermittent needle movement. You can unplug the chime box from behind the binnacle, it wont affect any running or other issues, you just wont get the bong when you leave your lights on.
  5. Cut the green/yellow wire to stop the speed chime but retain the lights on chime, at the chime box, not the speedo lol
  6. Yes, the four dots are normally the culprit, but also check around the R10 and connectors on C2, also check board for any obvious signs of dry joints
  7. Looks really good mate, bet you are glad youve got the weather to enjoy her now you are back
  8. Likely the ecu came from another vehicle on what looks like a standard map or chipped by Jeff on standard settings with the limiter removed. Jeff can plug it into conzult to see what has been adjusted if anything.
  9. I bought it from Mike Feeney as a spare and tarted it up over a year until i was ready to fit, with manual conversion and single prop, now its just the body and the last bit of interior to sort. Not a TT mate and as i said to you once at zedworld, it wasnt in great condition paint wise when i got it and i found a slight prang in the drivers rear corner, which made fitting 99 spec lights a problem, couldnt get it to sit as it should so went for the light panel blended in, then i got the bodykit bug lol. I would say that although i would never get rid of this zed as its my first and an ongoing project, when i get a TT i would probably go 99 spec front bumper again, but none of the other body mods, they really are a pain in the ass and there is nothing like a good straight, clean standardish zed.
  10. Many thanks to scubanesh, have some rep for helping in this matter, i appreciate he is busy with his new job, but if you have outstanding parts awaiting to be sent he just needs to stay in touch with the parties involved, keep them informed to save any future hassles. :thumbup1:
  11. Its white 2k primer, the paint ive bought is, believe it or not called hello yellow, which is a smart car colour, but looks deeper than i have seen it on SC, the engine parts are in the said colour and the slam panel to give me an idea of how it will look. Before the slam panel was painted
  12. Nice to see you back John and i can imagine why youve lost interest after all the work you have put into the beast.
  13. Welcome buddy, cant wait to see
  14. Part of this thread shows quite a bit, but give phutumsch a PM he has made quite a few and will have pics etc http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?164967-99-Spec-Rear-lights-confused&highlight=spec+lights
  15. Yep its got to be done again, as you know primer is not good at protection from the elements lol. Ive got the paint, ive got the time, just need somewhere to get it done, i have a couple of places in mind and hope to give a splash of colour before JAE. If i had a second car i would love to have stripped it as you did and just get it sorted properly, but i cant stop driving it, its a bug
  16. Nice to see you back Si and great to see your car grace our boards again, absolutely stunning, with mine still in primer after a few years i would have been happy with how yours looked before lol
  17. Also so that no one gets ahead of themselves, please remember that, not all previous banned members may be successful in their appeal, so dont think its a free for all comeback. The grounds for any decision by the committee is based upon what is best for the club in moving forward.
  18. As Brian said there will probably be very few who even bother to appeal, however the new rules have been established for current and future members that may be unfortunate in getting banned and offers a chance to come back after 12 months of being issued a permanent ban.
  19. Happy belated birthday mate, im glad you had a great day
  20. We are always open to ideas on ways to move forward
  21. At last years JAE AGM, the members who attended had the chance to voice any opinions or gripes, but nobody said a dicky bird. Is it that we have so many keyboard ninjas offering an opinion of how the club should be run, but dont have an opinion on the day for some reason or other? We are all here for the love of the zed and wholly have the same interest and the interests of the club at heart, so i would suggest that everyone who can make JAE this year do so, not only to enjoy a fabulous weekend, but to get the chance to voice concerns in person. We, on the committee and mods are all very much approachable and welcome any comments at the AGM so that we can clear up any misunderstandings, myths, rumors or behind the scenes goings on. We will be frank, honest and open and have nothing to hide or any ulterior motive to any decisions made on behalf of the club. It appears on occasion that posting on the forum about certain agendas, either the wrong end of the stick or mis-information seems to be interpreted in any way, apart from as it is meant. In an ideal world we shouldnt have to ban anyone, we are all adults after all and there will, be differences in opinion, but unfortunately there are the select few that cannot comprehend the rules on how they should conduct themselves or business in a community of like minded people and tend to go beyond what is deemed acceptable. Posting a possible ban up for the members to decide, would not work, some may be friends or feel the need to support said banned member, put yourself in a situation that has arisen from being ripped off, or not given a second thought in a transaction, how would you feel, personally? One side of a story gets heard on another site and people make their opinions based on that alone, and because they may have been banned for whatever reason, the rest of the posters feel sympathy with the banned member and voice an opinion in support of them, without hearing the whole story, then state how unfair we have been. Also bear in mind most of the committee have changed personnel in the last couple of years, so although the committee may have changed, the same rules still apply to the way we have to operate and we cant all be wrong in making an important decision like banning a member. To get real here, no one person has a say in who gets banned, its a majority decision based on facts and what is best for the members in the future within the club. We do not and cannot simply ban someone, because we may not like them, in life there are many people that you may not get on with or like, but are very unlikely to go over and punch their lights out for the hell of it. We all want harmony in the zed community, well as i see it, thats unlikely at the moment, all the while we have disgruntled or banned members from here opening another forum up, then complaining about .co.uk and you want us to be friends and welcome with open arms:nono: and wonder why the community is split  There will always be renegades, people who think they know better, thats something we have to deal with if it affects the running of the club, but for god sake in real life, everyone, probably would all get on like a house on fire so no need to take so much to heart and be proactive. End of rant

  23. I was counting down the minutes when you would reply Andy  I forgot to mention that people do also say, " what colour is it going to be" lol I am endeavoring to get it sprayed for JAE, but i have had to get the drive done and ordered a drop kerb cos we have some nice double yellow lines coming my way, so can kiss goodbye to a grand before i can move forward on the zed :glare: Sprayed or not its still going to JAE and if its not, im already prepared to have the mickey taken
  24. Now you are being pedantic lol, obviously there are a many reasons that alot of us cant get to some meets for whatever reason, i was just affirming that your car doesnt need to be mint or in show car condition to attend
  25. I can concur with Gary, my zed has been in primer for the last 3 years and still get looks and questions, the main one being " what is it" lol So no excuse unless you have no engine
