If you just want more power I'd imagine upping the boost would be the way forward on a bhp per £ basis. I'd be keen to make sure the brakes, suspension and bushes were tip-top first though.

He hasn't just got a flat - he's managed to get the rent on his three bed house in the countryside near Cambridge paid for on housing benefit.

My mate was going to apply for a job he could easily get. It was with a county council in a field he was interested in. He's a bright guy - PhD from Cambridge in a science subject. I saw him the other day and asked if he got the job. He said he hadn't bothered applying as with the £30K a year salary he'd only be a few hundred quid a month better of than he is on the dole. Makes me wonder why I'm sitting here working? :rant:

I think building one yourself is ok for people who understand it - I don't and I imagine your parents don't. A mate got one 'hand built' and had loads of problems. Maybe it'd be fine. I got an Acer laptop from Tesco 6 months ago - reduced from £500 to £400. It seems excellent - as good as the Mrs' Sony Vaio except her battery life is better. A mate who is well into computers told me not to get a Celleron processor - a Centrino is much better. IMHO anyway!

Adjust the belt tension. If you let it squeal for too long it'll glaze and you'll have to replace it.
