How to organise / co-ordinate a meet at Santa Pod
Hey folks. Long time no see and all that. I've got a family car now and missing my Zed. I'd like to get another one if circumstances permit. Anyway... some folk I know on a motorcycle forum are on about taking their cars to Santa Pod for a RWYB day. Has anyone got any suggestions on how we co-ordinate ourselves on the day? No one really knows anyone other than on-line. How do you meet, is it worth setting up a gazebo or similar, do mobile phones work ok there (what baout internet on them)? I remember a lot of the day when I went was spent queueing up for the strip, which makes it harder to get people together. Any suggestions for organising / co-ordinating would be great. I remember some good meets including some at Santa Pod back in the days when I had my Zed.

Engine issue - 2001 BMW 728i
Cheers lads. I have looked at and tried a couple of BM forums but I haven't found a really good one yet as far as I can tell. One did suggest camshaft sensor so that is sounding very possible.

Engine issue - 2001 BMW 728i
My car ran badly for a little while today and a similar thing about a week ago. Normally it's fine, then all of a sudden it started running rough; down on power, needs more accelerator and using more fuel. No warning lights or similar. Stopping and turning it off and on didn't seem to help. Turning it off and locking then unlocking the central locking with the key seemed to fix it both times. It felt a bit like it wasn't running on all cylinders. The rest of the time it's fine. It's got 165,000 miles on the clock, the last 40,000 done by me over the last 18 months. I've always had it serviced by a good independent except the most recent minor service about a month ago which i did myself (I just changed the oil, filter and topped up the power steering fluid). It's lpg converted but I don't think this is the problem - i switched it back onto petrol and then onto lpg again when it was running badly and it didn't make any difference. Any thoughts gratefully received!

What happened to Boldy's (Alan) car?
Hey Alan. Thanks for letting me know. If he ever wants to sell it, point him my way, it always seemed like a fantastic car. I sold mine about the same time - to 'Crazy Edi' from Albania. I was sorry to see it go but he seemed to really like it so that was good. Good to hear you and Daz have got a business off the ground. Good luck with it. If I was in Notts still I'd bring my cars to you.

Streuth, it's like the old days! lol

What happened to Boldy's (Alan) car?
Anyone any idea? I always thought it was a superb car, my favourite. I saw he was selling it a while back but I had just split up with the wife, was living in someone's garden and couldn't buy it then.

Part worn tyres... directional / asymetric?
I need a part worn (for me old BMW 728i, not a Zed). Aren't most (higher speed rating) tyres directional? Most look asymetric too. Does that mean I need a specific nearside or offside fitment?

Qashqai steering noise / garage near Dundee?
Cheers gents.

Qashqai steering noise / garage near Dundee?
My mum's got a Qashqai. There's a noise from the steering, she notices it at low speed at full lock / near full lock (dunno if she really knows what full lock means but you get the picture!). The local Nissan dealer has had it in twice to fix the problem and failed. can anyone recommend an independent garage near Dundee who might have a good go at sorting it for her?

Cheap HID kits (on ebay) - any good?
I fancy fitting one. I'd be for my old Seven Series BMW (E38) not a Zed. I've seen kits for 25 quid. Are they any good? I remember they used to cost 200 quid, then 100 but can you really get a decent one for 25? ps - missing my 300 loads, the BM's all right and more practical but nothing like as special.

Looking for a daily driver......must be fun though! any suggstions?

What's my catalytic converter worth as scrap?
Cheers gents. The centre exhaust (and back boxes) are on Ebay if anyone's interested.

What's my catalytic converter worth as scrap?
I'm selling off my last few Zed bits. I've got the centre section of the exhaust which I think contains the cat. Any idea what this would be worth at a scrap yard?

driving seat Leon with missing undertray ...
Cheers chaps. I'll try to get it on as soon as I get the chance but sounds like it won't make the wheels fall off in the mean time!

driving seat Leon with missing undertray ...
The front undertray fell off the wifes 2005 Leon a couple of weeks ago. I haven't had time to put it back. Anyone know if this might cause problems at all? Can't see me having time to put it back in the next couple of weeks.

Worth geting locking wheel nuts? If so, cheap or expensive ones?
Does anyone nick wheels anymore? They're BMW wheels on a BMW not a Zed. Nice 18" parallel sport ones, staggered width. Similar ones seem to go for decent money on eBay so I'm thinking it's worth getting locking nuts. I remember back in the day McGuard ones were reckoned to be the ones to have but there are some ok looking ones much cheaper on eBay. Are they ok?

Ok, youve got a vurtual £20,000. What car are you going to buy?
Heart says NSX, head says a 535D estate.

That is nice! Mine was S425KRO bizarrely.

1999 spec Zed on eBay, ends just after 9pm, £3995
Lol, I hoped for more but I'd have taken 2.5 it it had come to it.

1999 spec Zed on eBay, ends just after 9pm, £3995
I'll stick it all on eBay when I get a chance. Will post up on here when I do. Exhaust is the centre box and back boxes, good condition but some surface rust on the boxes underneath IIRC. Stereo is Japanese spec, two parts plus a Sony / Nissan CD changer for the boot. It had a band expander fitted so it picked up UK stations but I don't know if that was in the stereo or in between that and the ariel. I'm away from the parts so I can't take pictures. I'm not selling anything yet either, thanks for the interest.

1999 spec Zed on eBay, ends just after 9pm, £3995
The winner was an Albanian lad. A nice bloke but didn't speak much English and didn't understand eBay. This was obvious from whe he first bid. Anyway... he didn't want it for 4k and went back to London. He was very concerned about an advisory on the last MoT for 'very slight' wear in some bushes which Zedworld had since checked out and said wasn't a problem. Anyway... I ended up selling it to him a few days later for 3500! I must admit I hoped for 4-5K but these things are only worth what someone is prepared to pay for them I guess. He didn't want the standard wheels (which had good tyres on), standard exhaust and stereo so I'll stick them on eBay soon which might make a few quid. I've still got a spare (leaky!) headlight which I must give to Slick Pete to complete a deal from several years ago. Sorry Pete, I'll give you a text next time I'm in your neck of the woods. Fingers crossed I'll get another Zed or maybe an NSX in a few years time.
