  1. I tried doing it but when I click to go to Paypal, it just goes to a blank screen. Any ideas what I'm doing wrong? Thanks in advance!
  2. Think I've found it thanks to Google. Cheers lads.
  3. Crank angle sensor, right? No idea where that / its connector is either!
  4. Cheers. :) How do I identify the idle speed controller? ECU resut is just disconnecting the battery for an hour, isn't it?
  5. My 300 stallled this morning. I'd only driven a few hundred yards and was waiting at traffic lights. When I tried to pull away it stalled (it's an auto, NA). I started it again, it started fine but stalled again when I tried to drive off. And again. I started it again and gave it a load of revs to clear it. It backfired (not too hard) as I did this. Then as I tried to pull away again, it was fine. I did stall a few weeks ago too. Any idea what's wrong? I'm guessing something electrical as it backfired. Any idea what to do? I guess spray some WD40 type stuff and make sure the coil packs are firmly down on the plugs but maybe it's something more major. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance!
  6. Thanks. Are the door cards easy to remove / replace? I'm a numpty and most of my tools are at my wife's place. I don't want to end up with the door card hanging off, if it's tricky I'll have to let a car audio place do it.
  7. Thanks. I've posted on your for sale thread about the rears. :)
  8. My stereo sounds a bit tinny and rubbish. The head unit is ok - it's a Sony one a few years old but I still think that's not the problem as it was 200 odd quid when it was new. The speakers are originals in the front and some very nasty cheap ones in the back which I put in when one of the original rear ones stoped working. If I was going to replace the speakers, are the front ones easy to get to? I remember the back ones were easy, just pry the cover off. Any recommendations for speakers? JBL 6x4 seem to be popular from a search for the rears. I don't know anything about speakers and stereos but I'd like it to sound better. I don't want bigger speakers which take up more space other than the original pods if I can avoid them. I guess I could take it to a car audio place and get them to do it all but I'd like to try myself if I can and accessing the front ones isn't too hard. Thanks in advance!
  9. Mine's fine now. I can't believe I was driving round with those nuts lose. The only thing I can think is they slackened them off at the recent Mot to check something and didn't tighten them back up - they did mention front bushes so maybe they were looking round there. I don't think they just came lose as one side the two nuts weren't even locked together. Who knows! Anyway, it seems fine now, nasty noise is gone.
  10. Cheers gents, might well get some more details from you when required.
  11. I'll let you know when I'm sure. Probably one of the villages to the east or south east of the city, a few miles out.
  12. Thanks for that. Looks like I'll be moving in the next week or two.
  13. I took the wheel off again. Remving the shock is beyond me I think so I didn't try that. I think the gap on the tops was caused by human error rather than a collapsing bush as when I first saw it, on one side the two locking nuts weren't even together, they were about 1/2 cm apart. I've tightened and locked the nuts down on both sides as best I can. The noise has gone! I guess I should get a garage to inspect it all fairly soon anyway. Thanks again to everyone for all the help and advice.
  14. Thanks lads, will have a go at this today. Fingers crossed I don't bodge it up and end up having to get it traillered to a garage!
  15. How do i do that? Wheel off and unbolt thre shock at the top?
  16. I wasn't sure if those flats where where someone had grabbed it with molegrips or something. Anyway... many thanks, I'll give it a go tomorrow.
  17. Also what's the best way to stop the inner (threaded) part of the shock turning as I tighten the nuts down?
  18. I didn't think it looked right. How far should they be tightened? I'm guessing all the way down so they're touching the washer below them?
  19. Cheers chaps. I whipped the wheel off this morning. No sign of any corrosion as pictured (thank god!). I moved the hub up and down a bit and the noise seemed to be coming from the top of the shock area. I squirted a bit of oil on there from the top and it seems to have cured it. I have noticed there are two nuts on the very top of each shock. They're not tightened right down, they're still 1-2cm from being right the way down. Is that right? It does sound right. But someone competent fittedd the shocks (they're aftermarket ones) and it's gone through two Mots like that so maybe it's meant t be like that? Thanks again for all the help.
  20. Thanks Baz, I really appreaciate that. I'd forgotten how good this place is. I've been out of work for a while now but I'm starting a new job soon. When I get paid I'll subscribe again. :thumbup1:
  21. I'm moving to Northampton (got a job there!). I don't know the area at all. Can anyone recommend a garage who would be ok to work on my Zed please? It doesn't have to be a specialits or anything like that, just somewhere competent. One place I took it to in Peterborough for a service changed the spark plugs - but they didn't need changing, they only did four of six and put wrong ones in! That's why I'm after a recommendation for somewhere in / near Northampton please.
  22. Thanks gents, I better have a look at it asap. Some of those pics look scary! Hellraiser: no adjustable upper link arms.
