  1. I can hear it when I'm driving at low speed. A sort of fluttery, squeaky, creaky noise when the car goes over a bump or any uneven surface. It's coming from near the front passenger side wheel. If I push down on the arch I can hear the same noise a bit. I guess it's a bush or a bearing or something in the linakge? Is there a common problem I should check for? I guess the first thing is to take the wheel off and have a look? Thanks in advance!
  2. Cheers, difficult times at the moment but to going a meet would be good. Thanks, good advice. Just remove the plastic ones and put the stainless ones in instead? What size stainless fit? M6? M8? I'm rubbish with this sort of thing!
  3. Hey lads, long time, no speak. Merry Christmas and all that to everyone. My career ended and so did my marriage but I've hung onto the Zed. :thumbup1: The wheels are looking a bit tatty. I was thinking of getting them refurbed. They're 'Ace Turbines' - polished alloy outer lip, painted inners with plastic centre caps and there's plastic fake bolts round the edge of the painted bit (fake split rims I guess). The alloy lip and painted inner aren't too bad but could do with improving (scuffs and light corrosion removing and re-finishing). The plastic fake bolts are looking tatty and I suspect can't be replaced or easily improved. Would it be possible / a good idea to removed the plastic bolts and fill the holes with filler or something? I was thinking either paint/coat the whole wheels or just do the inners and re-polish the outer lip having removed the parking scuffs. When I say do all this, I mean pay someone else to do it! Any idea what would work well? Any idea what would be cheap (I know it will never be cheap cheap)? Any suggestions of a place to do it? I'd rather deal direct with whoever does them than take them to a place which sends them somewhere else and takes a cut as well. I've got my OE alloys with good tyres so can leave the Aces with someone for a while. ps - Slick Pete, if you're still about, I still have a leaky headlight I owe you as part of the exchange deal you did me on a good one! I'm near Newark, my mobile number's the same although the light's at my exe's place in Peterborough but I can collect it next time I'm there.
  4. I ordered 2x750ml aerosols of the Dynax S50. I sprayed it into the sills using the supplied 'wand' via the sill plate holes. It dripped out of both sides. The number and spacing of the drip-points seemed the same on both sides so I guess these are drain holes of some sort? Anyway, I looked in via one of the sill plate holes (not easy) and everything appears to be covered. Thanks for all the advice gents. :)
  5. Hi, thanks that's an interesting suggestion. I'm really after something I can buy from a shop to avoid delivery cost / time.
  6. I was thinking of changing the oil and filter in my non-turbo 300ZX. Halfords say their own 10-40 semi synthetic is ok (for the turbo model). Will this be ok in my NA? If it's ok for the turbo, it hope it'd be fine for the NA which is running a fairly mild state of tune (around 80bhp/litre). I always got fancy oil mail ordered in the past but that's the best part of £50 with the filter and I'm skint at the moment.
  7. That looks more suitable for a man of my modest ability. Cheers!
  8. Thanks. That stuff looks good, I might well give it a go. I don't have a problem but I don't want to get one! Does anyone know the easiest access point to get it in there? That lad did show me one near the rear seat (2+2 car).
  9. Can you just get the aerosol stuff and spray it in there?
  10. Cheers lads. Car.Mad - how did you get the oil in?
  11. Hey lads, lads! Some bloke was talking about my 300, he used to have one. He reckoned it was a good idea to pour some (maybe half a pint?) of clean oil down into each sill as this would stop corrosion. He reckoned there was a good place you could get access just by the rear seat if you pulled the trim back a bit. What do you think? Good idea? Bad idea? Anyone done it? Thanks in advance!
  12. I tried all the tyre places near me for part worns twice and none had any the right size for my car (not a Zed - I needed 195/55-16s). There were plenty on eBay and I got a decent pair with 5-6mm tread for £50 delivered.
  13. Plockton is nice, they filmed the (original) Wicker Man and Hamish McBeth there. There's dolphins in the loch and very big 'Plockton prawns' which you can eat although most of them get air freighted to Spain. It's near the Applecross Peninsula which is worth a drive round too, as mentioned.
  14. I'm not sure it's that different with tradesmen. Whenever I call someone out to look at a washing machine or whatever, it never seems to be less than £100. And if parts are needed, I could probably get them cheaper online. And IIRC it takes a long time to train to be a vet, you're buying the services of a highly skilled indivdual.
  15. I put my '99 on Pistonheads last year for about 2/3rds of that price and got no interest. Mine's done a lot more miles though. That one for sale looks like a superb example.
  16. My neighbour had the last shape 530d and the turbo need replacing which cost him a fair few quid IIRC.
  17. They do seem to have gone up a lot. I remember you could get a half decent early one for £10K, now it's more. This one looks superb. Some day I hope to own one!
  18. I imagine they'd not be easy to cut. I think I've gone one in that shape but it's steel.
  19. If it's propylene glycol based it's not too bad. If it's ethylene glycol based that's quite toxic. Fingers crossed for the cat.
  20. Amazing pics, thanks.
  21. V reg is 2000 isn't it? The number I first thought of was £2500.
  22. My favourites are Abbot and Speckled Hen. For ages I used to drink them straight from the fridge but recently learned it's best to let them warm up a bit first. Cellar temperature (about 12-14 centigrade IIRC) is abour right for drinking them.
  23. We (Homo Sapiens) are older than that. And we split from chimpanzees about 5 million years ago. Aliens? It's possible. I fear we'd be separated by distance and more importantly time. Even if humans existed for a million years (not likely) the chances of another sophisticated lifeform's million years overlapping with ours would be pretty slight. IMO anyway.
