  1. You want the chassis as stiff as possible so in turn you can make the suspension work harder ie work all corners of the car, put a stiff setup on weak chassis and it will shake and break it! Sounds like there might be a weakness somewhere and the track session has exploited it. Get the car checked over as it shouldn't have happened
  2. If you're referring to Bird's thread, then yes, I would agree with you that there's no need to go to 3" No idea if screamer pipes are considered legal or not
  3. I try very hard to not count any more! Used to have a spreadsheet with all my spending, stopped updating it when the total got silly, that was about 3yrs ago ...
  4. Yes, needed new permanent live to all coils, and a new earth to the driver side ones. Just a silicon coupler to replace and she'll be back to full health There were gremlins in the electrics that started messing around in the last few weeks, been a real PITA to sort out
  5. Interesting on the ratios, I have a stock ft diff for now, found 2 corners were in the the wrong rev range between 2nd and 3rd so it was a compromise whichever you chose. In terms of power, I've spent most of the week rewiring and datalogging. Conclusion - I was running on 4cylinders in the final!
  6. does sound PVC related if it didn't smoke before and has settled back down again
  7. cool, looking forward to hearing the details
  8. Anyone in this area that could check a (non-Z) car for me?
  9. don't think there's a full spec list anywhere but my head. Rear suspension changes aren't on yet, looking to get it done asap though to give me more traction coming out of corners

  11. Quick write up Great weekend for the 300, both myself and Bob competitive and scoring points. I got 2nd in Qualifying, 4th in the final. Car has been mapped by TurboNoz, so unlocked a fair bit more torque and hp (ok, a lot!), however the car has suffered from electrical gremlins over the last 2 week, causing Noel a headache, so huge thanks for his patience with the car, but also meaning I couldn't get some other jobs I wanted doing before the event. Collected the car from Noel on Friday night on the way to Croft and got to try it out on the Saturday, on a new circuit to me - fun times! Gremlins in the morning meant it was a battle to just to get it started in the morning, but once running it was fantastic for the morning sessions, very fast on the straights and letting me build up speed in the corners. More gremlins in the afternoon meant the car was down on power and laggier, but times stayed about the same as my confidence grew in the corners. All in all a positive result, with a lot of work to be done over the next few weeks to sort my electrical issues out, fit my new rear brakes (way overdue!) and get the car back to Noel so he can finish the map My fastest laps in the final: [video=youtube_share;HNmCUbSls-Y]
  12. Hi Darron, I was running around 700hp in the morning (first time in the car at that level!), some electrical gremlins holding it back for qualifying and final which was a shame. Bob must be around the 500 fly mark from when I was following him around. Your trap speeds suggest your not shy on power vs weight either!
  13. Hi Darron, I'm the blue one! Some nice times from you yesterday :)
  14. honestly, you don't want much more on the day. It's pretty full on, and if there are any issues, or tire changes needed due to weather etc it's pretty tight between the sessions. It's a relatively small series so there's usually another 2 series sharing the same day to make it practical. But again that limits time per session. What would be good is a testing day before hand as part of the series but that would increase costs. For a few of the meetings there's a public track day the day before so you can sign on to that to learn track etc

  16. it's not a track day! it's about competing. You usually get 2 15min sessions to get used to the track, then qualifying, then the final.

  18. how's your catch tank plumbed in?
  19. Fantastic work, if you do decide to make them I would be interested depending on results of course. I think on a stock Z, the power difference may not be obvious, an will come from the plenum design rather than the ITB's, but would be interesting to hear what the responsiveness is like. I also like how you've tackled the idle housing. A few thoughts from my side 1) Need to think if this is compatible with some of the top feed injector kits around, or at least allows space for something to be adapted. I still have side feeds but would think that most people who would consider the ITB will also be going top-feed at some stage 2) PCV reroute. Modifying the rocker covers like you have prevents the popular pcv reroute, again something to consider 3) What's the size of the inlet plenum coupling? 2.5"? 4) Could the plenum be made in c/f to save weight, looks like it could from what I can see. Good work!
  20. Based on budget, concentrate on the engine. As others have said, new bearings and forged pistons a must. I would consider MSP manifolds, and check your turbo's over - if they're ok then stay with stock. Pretty much all the rest can be done at a later date when funds become available.
  21. let us know when the Zed's coming out to play

I'll wave you at you as I heard north to croft. TA is the same day which is annoying as castle coombe is less than 20mins from my house
