  1. It's been very hot the last two days, so a few questions for you. what psi were you running ?. do you have stock injectors ?. what pertol (octane) were you using ? a after market chip ? The reason I ask is that when I first read your post I though that you may have had a reading on your knock/det sensor which may cause the ecu to kick into safty boost. You can clear this error by disconnecting the battery for an hour or so, but it would be worth getting a conzult on it to see why it may have det (if infact this was the reason)
  2. have you asked the garage the rason they disconnected the battery ?
  3. anyone breaking a zed will have one, it's not a common part request so you should be able to get a good one, just search through the old for sale threads about people breaking zed's
  4. I'll be running the car up to Colchester zoo shortly as a family day out. If you see me make sure you give me a flash or a wave (even if you are in a non-Z), as I haven't seen a single Z since I've been back on the road.
  5. shall we get this moved to FAQ as I'm sure when it kicks in there will be lots of questions
  6. there are some points under the car that will still be lower than most side skirts you can fit.
  7. totally agree, it's a bit too much of the same.
  8. Looks very well done, but if you want feed back, I prefer the center unsmoked.
  9. I've had my Z for 6 years now and had a fair few problems with it, most of them caused by upgrades. I wish I had leant by what I heard, but before I got the chance to do that I learn't by experience :D. Decat ?. After having my engine out for sticking valves, I was told that my turbo's had plently of life left in them. Shortly after that I decatted, 2 months later my passenger side turbo started smoking. 4 months after that I could not get any boost and the blades of my turbo's were griding up the casing. Hense the reason for rebuilding the engine. Injectors ?. I have done many rolling roads and have many graphs with Air fuel ration in comparrion to boost psi. 14.5 was the max my injectors could push out. I assume it would have been 14 psi if it wasn't for the aftermarket FPR. Turbos ?. Again rolling roads and Thor dyno's. The difference between 14.5 psi and 16 psi was about 15 bhp and a little detonation. Worth it for 15 bhp ?. Not at all. The difference between 13 psi and 14 psi was 18 bhp. Fuel, I can't say I've ever dyno'd my car on 95 ron, but I know that a few times in an emergency (i.e. no shell garages near by) I've had to put in 95 and I got det at 14 psi and had to turn it down to 12.5 psi before the det went, therefore if I had to put 95 ron in I would only run the car at 11 psi max.
  10. Just to add, after reading all the links. It seems only 1 font is now allowed and only standard black lettering also, no more highlights, no more 3d and no grovy backgrounds.
  11. Paul, Do you know what Group 1 and Group 2 are for cars registered before 1st Sep 2001 ? After checking your links it seems that we (i.e. all cars registered in this country before 1 sep 2001) have to have even bigger plates than cars registered after 1 sep 2001. Unless of course we bought a private plate after 1s Sept 2001, that's the way I read it anyway. Everyone agree ? i.e. Number plates purchased from 1 Sept 2001 Character Height 79mm Character width (except the figure 1 or letter I) 50mm Character stroke 14mm Space between characters 11mm space between groups 33mm Top, Bottom and side margins (minimum) 11mm Space between vertical lines 19mm Number plates fitted before 1 sept 2001- Group 1 Character Height 89mm Character width (except the figure 1 or letter I) 64mm Character stroke 16mm Space between characters 13mm space between groups 38mm side margins (minimum) 13mm Top, Bottom and side margins (minimum) 13mm Space between vertical lines 19mm Number plates fitted before 1 sept 2001- Group 2 Character Height 79mm Character width (except the figure 1 or letter I) 57mm Character stroke 14mm Space between characters 11mm space between groups 33mm side margins (minimum) 11mm Top, Bottom and side margins (minimum) 11mm Space between vertical lines 19mm I have to add that Yampiedog was spot on with his measurements in his initial post.
  12. In that case mate, I'll definately give you a buzz tomorrow with my V5 at hand and we can sort something out. Thanks mate. I'll be in touch.
  13. Paul, forgot to ask, any chance you can let us see the new requirements or is it not allowed to go public ?
  14. I think I just want to keep it legal guys. B19rks, Is what you are suggesting legal without question ?. If it is legal and I can get a smaller plate than the one I have then I'm well up for it. I don't think I'll risk having anything above the plae like "Silver Streak" etc. I want to give the police as little excuse as possible so I don't keep getting pulled.
  15. http://www.petrolprices.com/fuel-companies.html This should help put something together. Don't have the time myself sorry.
  16. I think The Jap ECU's are mapped on 100 ron, UK's are mapped on 95. I think it totally depends on what your car was mapped on (i.e. if you have an after market chip). If you are running higher than stock boost and obviously have an after market chip then you should be using Shells V or BP's Super both I think are 99 ron.
  17. Yep and the reason is because Octane is what raises the burning point of the petrol itself, so higher the Ron (Octane) the higher the ignition point of the fuel. The lower the ron, the lower the ignition point (i.e. temp that the fuel ignites), more chance of igniting before the spark = det !.
  18. Doh ok, thanks for letting me know Steve. I'll try and make an effort to ge to these again now I'm back on the road. I think the last one I went to over 4 years ago and that was only cause we stopped at the little chef for breakfast and there were a few 260z's there lol.
  19. Tesco do a 99 ron round my way now, I'm using it while I run her in then switching back to V max :)
  20. Yeah, thanks Mark, looks like it's going to be a nice event.
  21. you pretty much have to cut the rear arches to shreds anyway to fit a wide arse. May be worth getting it back to bare metal and preping it where the rust is, then starting work on it.
  22. You can use a multimeter or a conzult. There should be some tech pages on here about how to do this. If you can;t find anything using search post back and we can guide you through it.
  23. Is there a meet at the halfway house this Sunday ?. If so anyone going ? I'm thinking of popping in to say hello, but the wife wants to take our 7 month old to the Zoo, I don't imagine we will spend all day there so we can either pop in early or late :)
  24. Are they 320cc or 370cc ?. I was sure they were 370's
