  1. That looks great..... nice one techno genius.... now we can all see who is good and who is brilliant......and who is well .........Mikey.......lol
  2. I wondered how long it would take someone.........lol
  3. Cheers z32bolt, I will look up priming the oil line and see if I can find a how to...... cheers Remove the ECU fuse and turn over 10-15 seconds?? Sound about right?
  4. I did fill; the pipes..... cleaned up all tools and pulled out the nitrile glove that was over the top..... realised I left an extension bar on the rocker cover, grabbed it and socket fell off the end and down the pipe...... typical.....lol Can Anyone tell me what to look for when deciding which turbo to refit? I haver the one that was on the engine when I got it 2nd hand.... untested.... I also have a very clean looking one I got with a load of parts from someone.... it has no oil in the intake or exhaust.... looks pretty clean..... Is there any way to definitively check which is better to refit please.....? Russ
  5. Erm, is the small rubber grommet missing from in the small hole in the middle? I only ask as mine has disappeared sometime and needs replacing..... Russ
  6. I have turbo off at last..... and a couple of taps with a dead blow hammer and the socket fell out again..... Now all I need to do is put it or my spare back on....As I don't know if any of my turbo's is good..... how can I tell which is best one to refit? Hi Mikey...... my fingers and hands look like Mark's gear knob..... chewed up! I am leaving it for today as it is getting late..... will try and get it back together tomorrow..... I should be okay getting it back together as I won't be using the tabs as Jeff recommended and will be using locking nuts that I am going to pick up tomorrow morning.... I did move the PTU and re-loom the wiring on the front of the engine.... nice new flexi conduit.... and everything water tight and sealed.... I did this to calm down after ripping my knuckles.....lol
  7. If you are going to attempt to rub it down start with 1000 or 1200 grit wet and dry, Plenty of water, make sure the wet and dry is cleaned repeatedly other wise it will pick up what you are removing and dig into the paint you are uncovering... Don't press into the paper, take your time and do it very lightly, let the paper do the work.... again make sure it is wet and clean.... otherwise you will go though the colour to primer..... Try going around the outside of the peeling lacquer and avoid the middle of the patch as that will be the bit that rubs through the colour first... I would then lightly do the entire panel to just take off the top part of the lacquer.... Lightly.... once you have removed the lifting lacquer, clean area with clean water and wait for it to dry.... I use diluted metholated spirit to clean again.... Then a clean dry cloth to wipe over area.... Best thing to do now is to re lacquer the panel..... You would be best to go to a company that supplies the trade and get a can of clear coat made up, as it is TOTALLY different to halfords rattle cans..... They are more thinners than paint...... A professional can will give you a better spray pattern.... Make sure the panel is clean and dry...... start with a light coat of the top coat..... and let it dry away from flies or dirt..... Garage or gazebo...... Add a couple of coats of clear and wait for it to dry between coats.... Allow to dry for a day or 2....... Then you can give it a light polish with Farclea G3 and then some nice wax....... I am no expert..... But have picked up a few things over the years...... Now I am waiting to be told I forgot something or got it all wrong......lol Russ
  8. Grounds for divorce I think............lol
  9. Thanks for that mate...... looking online at options of nuts to ask for......lol
  10. Hi Jeff, I don't suppose you know the nut size for the 4 turbo studs? I am trying to source some locking nuts that aren't nylock..... I will have to pop down to local fastener company monday and wondered if you knew the size and thread pitch? Cheers.... Russ
  11. Happy Birthday Mate....... Hope you have a great day......:happybday:
  12. Thanks again Jeff for this thread. it gives me another reason not to go to a mechanic who doesn't know anything about Z's........
  13. Thank you soooooooo much for this Jeff, you do not know how much I appreciate that...... I owe you a beer..... And thanks to everyone who has responded with idea's of how to get the socket out..... Russ
  14. LOL.... nice idea.... but it would spin the turbo up and I am trying not to do that in case it takes out the rotors.... Russ
  15. Cheers Jeff, studying the pics.... I will have to remove exhaust elbow tomorrow and completely remove the decat pipe... hanging down at the moment... I spent ages trying to get to that illusive bolt on the manifold.... gave up after cursing and kicking things....lol
  16. Just spoke to father in law who has a flexi camera on a stick thing with a monitor on the other end..... going to try to see how far this is stuck tomorrow....lol I am going to try the 4 turbo to manifold bolts tomorrow morning.... why is it when they are off the car they look easy to get to the bolts.....lol I have the spare here on my table and it looks easy to get to everything.....
  17. Hi Jeff, How do I get the 4 bolts out of the turbo... I can get to the 2 outer ones, but the back ones?? Cheers Russ
  18. Tried that and it is completely wedged right round the bend..... magnet sticks to it, but just pops off when you try to pull it out...... Thanks anyway....
  19. Hi z32bolt, this is driving me mental.... How do you get the back 2 off the manifold...? I can bend the locking flaps on the front 2, but couldn't work out how to get the back 2.....? I have dug out one of my spare turbo's and tried to make a bent wire from some rod using the spare to work out where it is stuck.. I tried it on the turbo on the car and can feel the socket, but no way I can get it..... it's wedged..... cheers... Russ
  20. One way to lower the car to the floor?
  21. Anyone free tomorrow to help me get this bloody turbo off and get it back when i get the socket out please???
  22. The socket went down the outlet pipe... the one with the 90 degree elbow on it, middle of turbo..... Engine is in the car.... the problem is it is a long reach socket and has gone down the pipe and turned so it is laying sideways.... can't rotate it upright to be able to lift it with magnet.... so trying to remove manifold and turbo and can't get to middle rear nut on manifold.... the one behind the 90 degree elbow.... can't get a spanner on it.... 90 degree elbow removed by the 3 bolts, but still can't get a socket or socket and extension on the nut..... I haven't got any universal joint extensions either.... they have gone walkies..... How do i remove this last manifold bolt??? Do I need to remove the 90 degree exhaust elbow?
  23. I have magnet sticking to the socket but it is laying on it's side and won't rotate to come out of the hole it went in through.... I watched it go down the pipe, so it is definitely there.....lol How can i get that manifold bolt out directly above and at the back of the pipe the socket dropped into..... Or is it best to try and get the 4 off between the manifold and turbo?? If so, how do you remove the front rear from the 4????
