  1. Well compression test done and got these figures..... 1. 164 2. 160 3. 161 4. 160 5. 162 6. 160 Replaced gasket on exhaust and can still hear a blow from above...... might be manifold gasket on the bloody same turbo I dropped a bolt down..... would have been better off dropping the manifold and replacing gasket while I was doing it after all......... sods law......lol Only other thing is the metal elbow gasket on the turbo...... but can't get to it or feel the blow due to the viscous fan...... blowing a gale under the car while she is running..... Did find a vacuum leak whilst doing it..... vacuum pipe from balance bar to boost gauge + boost controller + recirc valve was hissing badly so temp disconnected recirc valve and she started running smoothly... Every time I reconnect the N/S recirc valve she starts missing and running rough.... so disconnected both of them temporarily till after MOT.... It looks like Si and Terry were spot on..... flushed the rad and refilled with clean water and not getting the bubbling brown crap no more........ phew..... Just a few teething problems by the look of it...... So going to get her to temperature later and try again for MOT tomorrow.....
  2. Roger squadron leader, no smoke detected.......... lol
  3. I like the top one purely for the number plate size and shape and No fog lights set into the bumper............ the euro one always looks strange with the inset fog lights..... surely these could be packed out to give a more flush fitting look?
  4. The annoying thing is there was no exhaust leak till I drove it...... engine movement driving seems to have shown up a dodgy exhaust joint.... typical.... looks like the turbo down pipe to decat pipe..... 3 bolt flange...... hmmmm no gasket....... looks like it was my fault from when I dropped that bolt into the turbo and got side tracked and forgot the gasket...... DOH! letting her cool down then flushing the radiator with hose and fitting gasket....... plus wife gone to bed ill and left me with my 22 month old...... so work on car is on hold till his mid day nap....... lol At least I found out my brakes work...... nearly all the surface rust on the discs is gone now.........lol she did feel like something was trying to stop her from rear end...... so going to check handbrake shoes and callipers on rear..... plus double check auto transmission fluid levels again now she has been driven..... Thanks Terry and Si, was ready to cry........ or just tear her apart again...... lol
  5. Hi Si, I fitted new connectors on both injectors and coil packs...... and cleaned all the connections with contact cleaner and fibreglass pen.... Going to sort out exhaust leak first then compression test her..... if all is okay......... then flush the cooling system and see what happens........ Cheers Si, going to give her a going over to see what happened...... she has been sounding lovely, no smoke and ticking over for months..... just couldn't drive her to check anything without tax and mot..... Bloody typical this happens on way to MOT.... lol
  6. Doesn't feel oily...... just flushed a bit of water through and is now gone....... it could be from the crap inside engine as water level dropped a lot...... also found blowing from N/S turbo to down pipe..... so could be smell from there...... going to get underneath and see where that is coming from...... got spare gaskets in shed.... Been ticking over on driveway for months and not overheated or shown anything till driving her...... going to sort out exhaust leak and then run her up and see what happens when she is up to temperature....
  7. Hi Si, for me it isn't the financially viable problem....... I just can't sell her........ it's not just owning a Z for me..... It's owning this particular Z........ weird but she has kept me positive through bad times dreaming and looking forward to driving her again sometime..... Carrot and donkey..........lol Now all I need to do is find the money for parts and time to actually do the work needed......... Or find some help from mechanically minded people to help???.........lol
  8. Best place to get some not too expensive but good quality head gaskets? OEM....? Need some advice here....... this is what it looked like coming out of the top of the rad....... ........... looks like chocolate milkshake......... Trying to think of anything else that could cause this....... clutching at straws here...... right going to dig out my compression tester........ and then going to strip the plenum, rad, fan, belts and pretty much everything....... feeling slightly depressed now thinking how much fun this will be with the engine in the car as I have nowhere to do it out of the car........
  9. Thanks for all your best wishes............ But didn't even get to the MOT......... she started missing badly and smelling of exhaust gasses just up the road......... Oil in the rad.......... head gaskets gone and they were replaced just over a year ago with zero miles driven........ Now I need to strip engine, get heads checked again to see if they are straight and start all over again....... Gutted........ Looks like I will be off the road for a while..........
  10. I agree, been going to same MOT station for 22 years now because they are honest...... They only fail or advisory genuine things.... If say something they can fix in minutes is wrong they will do it and pass it..... bulbs, etc... All the car dealers, taxi's and regulars keep going back as you know he will tell you if he thinks you will need things doing that aren't advisory things as well...... Only thing that is now worrying me is the low front bumper and the brake testing rollers..... The MOT tester maybe removing the veilside front bumper today........ lol I shall let you all know when I get home....... and yes it is a 20 minute run to the MOT station, enough time to see home the build is running........ fingers crossed..... taking oil, transmission fluid and water in case...... lol
  11. I am sooooo nervous now..... No going back.....lol..... if she passes I will be happy, if she fails I may not be able to afford to fix her for a while......lol
  12. Stripped out head unit, Digital Surround Processor, Door speakers, crossovers and amplifier..... Cleaned and checked all connections, rebuilt the crossovers with new capacitors as they had given up whilst off the road..... I then refitted it all making sure it all worked and cleaned the electric aerial while I was at it......... Then it was onto the Greddy Profec B II ......... have been dreading setting this up..... I have read the manual a few times now and have set it up as best I can...... I have set the low at 10psi, and warning at 12.5psi so I can get it to the MOT okay tomorrow...... I need someone to talk me through this setting up......lol I topped up all fluids, tested lights, checked tyre pressures, put in some fuel, debated fitting my harnesses but decided to wait till after MOT......lol I then emptied out all my tools, clamps, pipes and spares that were dumped in the boot....... New number plates all on and done..... Can't think of anything else and now getting nervous.................:scared::sweatdrop::helpsmilie::hurl:
  13. Welcome to the club...... I have never heard a single bad word about Jimmer only good...... I don't think you will go wrong with his knowledge and experience....... Hope you get her back on the road and start having fun again soon......
  14. Fitted in clock hole...... just seemed best and neatest place to fit it.... and it is the same as your getting.....Greddy Profec B II
  15. Make a note of what happened in diary so you remember when the letter arrives...... then write back stating what you just said and they should be able to measure distance you travelled between flashes as t.mogsy said..... You should be fine.....
  16. WOW...... that's nice.... Is it me or are Z's being valued higher now for insurance and a lot higher than ones for sale.... I know it has loads to do with condition, cost of replacing all the parts, modifications, etc for insurance purposes...... It is just a shame that this is not reflected in the sale price of our Z's........ Has anyone else had a high insurance valuation done lately?
  17. Right that's it........... Outside Now.........lol
  18. I refitted the door cards and speakers, lubricated all the locking mechanism and window runners and checked seat belts again....... I fitted new number plates and stickers I was kindly sent in my renewal pack......lol OH..........and I booked her in for an MOT on Thursday at 11am......only took 7 years...... lol.......:hyper::dance::dance:

I have been helped out over and over again by members here....... I can't think of any other clubs that help one another out this much...... I too love this place...... what a spirit.....
  24. Well just had a valuation on my Z by Mike at Zclub and I nearly fell of my computer stool when I read it...... £10,000.... I must admit that I have been smiling ever since.......lol Can't wait to see my insurance companies response when they receive that Agreed valuation..........lol
