I think it was a neighbour...... had a few problems since moving here and he was spotted on my driveway by back of my car....... Same neighbour that did my car tyres everyday for over 3 months..... He Keeps encouraging his dog use my front step and driveway as a toilet...... Soon be fitting metal plate under door matt and connecting to an old flyback transformer from TV.... Next time it pee's or pooh's on my doorstep it will regret it...... lol

Well tried snap on timing light and sensor sitting on top of coil pack no 1 and got 91 degree's out????????? Now starting to wonder how this is possible........ and the car still running..........?? Going to ring Jeff...... Hellllpppppppp...... lol

Well today I was doing some bits to the boot trim and noticed someone has pulled off the end of my O/S rear quarter window rubber...... was there last week..... and the N/S lower window trim is bent out as though someone has tried prying it out...... Sooooo annoyed as these were in reasonable condition...... Now it looks horrible.... why would anyone do this..... Anyone have these that I could buy???

It seems impossible to be this far out..... like the timing gun is firing 180 degree out.... Mine is a sealey pro one with advance and retard dial..... I am going to try to find one from my MOT centre and see if it is the gun...... Yep I was using no1 coil pack.....lol

Hi Redwine, she is up to temp but still cannot see the mark anywhere.... Hi znut, I tried gun set to zero and 15 degree, cowling is not fitted and the timing mark still cannot be seen anywhere in the range or anywhere on the top of the pulley.... strobe lights the pulley and marks on cover, but no mark on pulley anywhere....

Search ebay for 300zx parts and set the filter to highest first and there are some really weird prices for loads of bits......lol

Hi Groover, STD pulley and painted the timing mark white on the pulley...... but as soon as the engine is started and the timing light put on it there is no sign of the mark...... can't see a thing on top or either side of the pulley..... Struggling to get the light to even trigger using Jeff's technique of cable tied open pickup sat on top of No 1 coil pack..... have to move it to one certain spot and it picks up..... It is as though the timing mark on the pulley is 180 degree out as the mark just isn't visible anywhere using the timing gun......

I tried to test the timing on my Z today and cannot see the timing mark on the pulley...... painted it white and on the timing marks.... Started her up, timing gun set to 15 degrees and there is NO mark visible on the top or sides of the pulley..... I can't see the mark anywhere? I had loosened off the CAS to adjust it and now have sod all acceleration...... bloody nightmare.... Starting to think the timing gun is faulty...... I did have to do a bit of moving the 'pick up' to get any strobing at all...... It almost looks like the timing is 180 degrees out, but couldn't be that as engine runs and ticks over nicely......

I'm up for a meet if I'm not working......

Got my timing light from ebay...... a nice sealed one with advance........ connected to car and bugger all light......... dead as a doornail.... tested leads and circuit and it is fried...... So emailed the seller who has offered a refund, but almost as much to send it back to him as refund...... love the way people sell items as fully working without really checking they do work...... So going to rebuild it as it is a nice metal cased one...... just trying to find someone local to me to borrow one tomorrow...... Saying that I just had idea of a friend.....hmmmmmm It needs doing as she tries to stall in reverse for some reason and I nearly reversed into my lounge trying to keep the revs up coming up my driveway...... lol I need to know what it is set at as I guessed when doing the CAS and went by ear......lol Hopefully dry tomorrow morning and I can take her out for a test drive after I dump the water from the engine and replace with fresh antifreeze now I have flushed out all that crap I had when I thought the head gasket had gone...... lol

Well I replaced my N/S turbo's gasket between elbow and turbo some time ago when I had a nightmare and dropped something down into the turbo...... A Socket!!! I noticed yesterday that I had a large blow on the exhaust and felt the leak with my hand down the back of the battery and engine.... I took it all apart today and found the gasket I had fitted when I got the turbo off was........ well....... upside down........ doh!!!!! Looks like I just fitted it and thought it only goes one way up..... but it doesn't and blows like mad..... it even looked okay when I fitted it, but doesn't seal...... I even rang up JeffTT for some advice and he suggested that I may have either left a piece of old gasket or put a washer in between by mistake..... I wasn't even that clever ( bloody upside down gasket, mumble, curse, mumble).... lol Thanks for the advice and support again Jeff............ I rushed it and paid the price..... lol So now have another new gasket fitted and it no longer sounds like a tractor...... Yay..... lol Hopefully now it won't stink inside the car of fumes and fuel economy may be better.... Now all I need is a timing strobe to set her up..... as the ebay one i bought turned up DOA and just does bugger all........

Wednesday's relaxing work:- 1) Checked the balance on throttle bodies as per Jeff's how to thread.... 2) Checked the TPS and found it was set at .5v, so nothing to do there.... still waiting for timing gun to check I'm set at 15 degree...... 3) Set up remote starting on my clifford alarm so I can now fire her up and get her to running temp before driving her or even leaving the house..... 4) Went for a drive to get some MDF for boot build (with a few surprises)......... Thread will be coming soon..... 5) Washed her carefully to remove the dust from this sahara sand storm thing....... 6) Refilled the cooling system with fresh antifreeze.......... 7) Put in 37.67 litres of Momentum99 fuel ready for my trip to Norwich next week......... Today is my day without the wife and kids for a change...... I can actually do what I like till they get home from work and school....... I managed to finish the LED conversions to my window switches and new chrome door handles...... all now light up white..... very happy with the results..... Just need to wire them in and fit the handles when I take off the door panels to sound deaden the doors and grease and clean all the locks and window mechanisms...... Loads to still do, but running out of time to get it all done before 11th April when we go to Norwich....... Still have sub boxes to make, cover and the amp, etc to install........... lol

We will have to catch up now mine is back on the road...... lol
