Veilside's work in progress
I watched a load of stuff on youtube about using soda as a media and it looks like it is a good option that removes corrosion and does no damage to the metal..... This shows how it works..... and then this one on bodywork...... http://www.powernationtv.com/two-minute-tech/2min-159/blast-rust-with-baking-soda Going to give it a go.......... It won't replace rusted metal..... but it will clean up and show what I am dealing with better than sanding or grinding as it does no damage to the item your stripping back......

Veilside's work in progress
I am now inspired to rebuild her again....... suspension, brakes, all undercarriage is coming off and being media blasted, treated for surface rust, checked and powder coated or painted..... I am going to soda blast the rear diff to remove the rust and corrosion..... I now have a media blaster, workshop, Bilthammer rust treatment, new drop links, new brake pads, Caliper paint and am ordering new brake lines now. I just need to get new discs all round, top shock mounts, handbrake shoes and bushes.... I am also going to weld up the spoiler holes and rear wiper hole....... replace N/S front wing and fit side skirts I got from Dan........ Then time to change colour............ Oh and rebuild an automatic transmission in my spare time......... Going to be busy for some time to come.............. lol

So why a Zed, people?
I've had a 89 corvette, a Porsche 911 with the whale tail, A fiesta turbo, 2 VW beetles, a ford 100E with V8, a ford orion 1600E with a MKI escort turbo engine conversion, an XR2i, a MKI escort, Smart fortwo & forfour, Saab 9-5 aero and now an Audi A4 quattro s-line....... I bought my Z after being asked to have a look at an electrical fault on her back in 2000. She was a complete wreck after the previous owner spun her on a motorway and took out a large double poled road sign sideways. The N/S sill was totalled, the door was folded in, the roof was destroyed, but the chassis was still straight...... as she was spinning it must have spun off the posts....... She wouldn't start when I looked at her and spent a day with no wiring diagram trying to trace the fault. The owner a family friend had enough and offered to sell her to me for £1000.... I thought for about 30 seconds and said yes..... I had her running the next day....after finding a relay had no ignition live..... I bypassed with a piece of wire and she started.... Wire is still there! I had the MAF fail and went into a Nissan specialist in Maldon, whilst there someone removed loads of parts from her as they mistook it for a breaker. They fobbed me off for months until I gave up and bought replacement parts.... I didn't even get a sorry.... Due to the amount of parts and damage to repair I imported a full veilside C1 kit from Japan. It then had the kit fitted, all bodywork straightened and sprayed in the Porsche amethyst she wears today. I had a full stainless exhaust system made, decat pipes and full leather in grey and black. And I fell in love with the looks and had so much fun going for a drive....... I still love just driving her, when she actually runs...... and I have no intention of ever selling her...... For me it is all about this one Z..... she's mine and I try to learn how to do what ever I have to to keep her on the road.... For me another Z wouldn't be the same. She has kept me sane when everything else has gone pear shaped. More than just a car....... some people think i'm mad..... sorry most people.... Especially my family...... lol

Do you know which version of the PTU you have ? Had a similar thing when I first got mine........... As advised pulling codes is the best option first. have a read of this...... http://tech.aus300zx.com/pturepair/pturepair.htm Only an idea....... hopefully one of the specialists may pop in for some advice.... Russ- Ongoing Auto Transmission problems......
I now have a full rebuild kit for the transmission with new clutch kit including the steels. I also picked up the transgo kit to increase the line pressure that will hopefully help over standard automatic transmission. This is a long term rebuild project and I will be doing a diary with photos as I go to help me remember what went where and try to help anyone else mad enough to try this...... I just need to clear out a nice area to clean so the rebuild is in a clean and spotless environment to stop any chance of debris ruining the process. I have the parts, a parts cleaner & the rebuild / service manual for the transmission and will be starting in the next week or so............- Z spec throttle cover group buy
Paypal sent Richie..... Thanks.... Russ- Re-subbed
Oh god!!!! He's staying.......... lol Only Kidding...... lol- Z spec throttle cover group buy
Hi Richie, could I still get in on this and get a polished set with the Z logo please?- What did you do to your zed today?
It was more to post than to buy them Stephen..... lol Along with a few bits for Lee (Bird) and some parts for Eggs...... The cases were a bit heavy with the parts in them.... lol I'm just glad I didn't get asked for turbo's, heads or a crank..... lol It was a good trip and Disney was superb..... so glad we bought fast passes though as the queues were about 1.5 to 2 hours each without them....... I did see loads of Challengers, Chargers, Corvettes and Mustangs....... common as a Mondeo over there.... But I did want to bring a Challenger back with me..... lol A few 350Z's about, but not a single Z32 anywhere....... I missed a classic car show as watching fireworks at Epcot with the kids was more important and they loved it for about 10 minutes till they got bored and wanted to go home.... lol- Simply japanese 2016!!!
Put me down as a maybe if she is running again by then....... lol - Intermittent problem, now permanent problem.
