  1. Heater matrix, the smell is probably anti freeze. Try a good rad sealer, thay can work for years sometimes....and nothing bad will happen if it doesnt work, just cost you less than a fiver.
  2. Warranty companies being what they are, ie, thieving bars**ds, I would expect them to reject the claim agains worn/shot clutch plates as "fair wear and tear". You need the gearbox company to "show" the warranty company some hard part, ie epicyclic gearbox, as broken. They would need to have a broken one from someones else box. If you get my drift. As you called it, its a Breakdown Warranty, probably
  3. Dont know what gear is what band/clutch, but very very few auot boxes allow you change the bands in situ. Other problem is the muck has by now been spread every where, and this will cause all sorts of agro when it sticks valves and sends your presures mad.
  4. dont bother changing the fluid, If the filter is blocked and the fluid burnt, the box has had it. And spending money on a new filter and fluid change is just a total waste of money, time and effort. Take out the dipstick and SMELL the fluid, if it smells burnt.......
  5. But I think ou got the buttons/switches uses wrong.
  6. being a pre engaged starter, I think, the solenoid kicks the gear into the ring gear, the teeth on the converter, beofre spinning the starter motor, unless you donjt have much battery power, and then sometimes it just spins the motor with out engaging the teeth. Does that make any sense?

I think, but an not sure, that your clocks will not be correct unless you change them, or put one of those really nice stickers over the KPH reading. Do it properly and get some uk clock is my 2p worth. And Sraaee, you reading this post still, try and get your "advice" right, I know its hard for you but, once again you have given misleading info.
  8. If you can do it I think it might be worth it, and what's to loose apart from a head light. Can you use the shaped metal bulb holder from another headlight and make it fit the Z light?

As you can see, there is a difference of opinion. I go with the converter messing the Hicas, but have no personal exp. As I said, I went for UK clocks, about £120.00. People say they should be cheaper, but try finding them cheaper when you need them. Chip cost I am not sure of, but get a good one. To get the best out of the chip you need an induction kit, Apexi prob the best, and a less restrictive exhaust. Then when set up nicely about 350+ BHP is available.
  10. I have a Jap TT, auto, and I leave mine standing for weeks sometimes and no probs. Having said that mine is a series 2, supposedly better than the series 1 in some ways and it has only done 53k miles.

I fitted UK clocks, this does not remove the limiter, but seems to move it to 125mph, I dont know why. This then means you hae to have another chip fitted, but this can then allow more boost etc etc. I did mine this way becasue of the question over the Hicas being upset. when I SVA'd it the speedo was one mph fast. In other words very accurate.

there has def been reports of "some" converters upsetting the Hicas. But I really dont know more than that. Something to do with the ECU thinking its going faster/slower than it really is. Whatever..
  13. several clutches in an auto. look just like a motorcycle clutch

Isnt there a problem with the Hicas when fitting one of these?
  15. On the subject of racing a TVR, you could always make the rae last for more than 15-20 miles. By that time the TVR would have broken down. Or needed another service..........Just joking..
  16. skimmed over your link, makes it sound like rubbish. One day we will know I guess.
  17. http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?t=61988&f=23&h=0 scroll down for the start...
  18. The Bible Code,,, worth reading, if it is true, and it reads true, we will be lucky to excape without some disasters. But it does say in the code that we can avert these disasters, IF WE TRY. Need to ask GW Bush and Blair on that then...
  19. As a general rule, the crappy trucks have crappy drivers...and vise versa,(sometimes)
  20. Auto boxes can be funny about their oils. Choses the CORRECT one, read spec, for the car, and then make sure it is a good make.
  21. If they were doing 65mph, then they were only small trucks I guess as artic's and anything over 7.5tonne are limited to 56mph. Small trucks are often driven by people with only car license's and are scum. And dangerous too. Having a LGV1 license myself the thing that can really get a lorry driver going is slow him down on a hill, and then wizz off leaving him with 16 gears to play with.
  22. Jail for a number plate with odd spacing? and you get £1000 fine for littering the street, but who ever does?
  23. With some windows the more programs you add the slower it gets, until you get what you have (maybe). Each new program takes a bit of memory etc, I am no expert, even deleting them does not always get rid of all of the program. Maybe its time to wipe the hard drive and reload.
  24. I put a Rover V8 into a cortina years ago, when you floored it the engine moved just enough to jam the steering, (it touched the UJ). Made for interesting races from the lights as you had NO STEERING until you backed off.
