Just looked at MAC 1's web page........how much BHP are you running? All that kit must have cost a few bob, roughly how much did it set you back?

5-50 oil - Valvoline's response
If an oil meets the required specs, then it meets the specs, end of story. There is such a lot of old wives tales regarding oil I am allways amazed by them. And lets face it, who among us "really" needs the ultimate, the last 2 or 3% protection that the best oils may or may not deliver for more than just a very small time every 3k miles or so? (in road use)????IF ever.. It reminds me of an article in a motorcycle mag, the guy said he was not the fastest rider but did often touch his knee down etc, he allways bought the "best" tyres using racing compounds. But was then told that because he did not get the tyres up to racing temp, that his "pukka racing compound tyres" were in fact LESS grippy than a fast road tyre. So the tyres he bought were not appropriate for his riding.

Radar /laser Detectors
They became legal, if thats the term, when someone took their case to court and challenged the law and won. About 5 years ago now I think. I bet blair will make them illeagl when he can becasue he hates anyone not towing his line. But they have been threatening to do it ever since they lost. So who knows?

Radar /laser Detectors
Get your facts right before you post would be a good idea. Radar detectors are legal, HM Gove keeps saying they ae going to make them illegal but not yet. Costco do the Origin Blue (?) GPS for just under £200.00 plus VAT. You need to be a member but I am and I bet many others here are. Dont know if it does all traps, you need to check.

Some views on the following idea
I have owned 3 Soarers, all V8 autos. And yes I know they are rare, (Manuals) but £7500.00??? get real, I import the odd thing from Japan and have seen them for a lot less. And I bet there are more than 3 over here. I used to belong to the Soarer forum until it closed. Anyway, I am not trying to be personal, if your car was worth it to enough people it would belong to someone else by now. I actually think they might be better than a Z, quality wise, but it ends there. And I think they saw you coming, just my opinion. No offence. :)

Some views on the following idea
No offence, but its way tooo expensive, period. What it owes you is of no importance, and the proof is that you cant sell it. Sorry, sometimes the truth hurts, or at least my opinion...

Wheels
As read in Autocar. They were running a prototype at 164mph, swapping the wheels for 17" 18 spoke wheels they LOST 12 mph. They say fewer and wider spokes are better.

Zed Vs Soops!
Sorry I am replying to the original thread, but my best mate has a Supra TT, we went out on Sat PM, first time, my Z is Jap Auto TT 1993, standard, and I was happily surprised how well I kept up. Supra had the edge, no doubt, but not as much as I feared. his is 6 speed too. Z has a "considered" look to it where as the Supra is just fast and it does look like a Sierra coupe. Cant fault the build though. And my Z owes less than a 1/3 of what he paid for his Supra.

Wheels
225 refers to the tyres not the rims I think, and you can fit diferent size to the same rim, ie front to ack. I have 17", dont know the rim size but I have 225 on the front and 255 on the rear. I feel you should Def have wider on the rear. IMHO 18" are over the top, but then I am old, 45, and like a bit of ride confort, and the rims tyres are cheaper.

Jap Instruments
True, but as the original thread said something about his old Z getting a bit past it I guesed he would only get something youngish, otherwise he might be moving sideways as it were.

Jap Instruments
said it before but, for the SVA, if it needs it you need aproper fog light in the approved location. Brake lights rewired will not do. As for speedo conversions, best optio is to fit a UK clock, but then you will still be limited to 125mph and will need an upgraded ECU chip to get the limit off. But I have heard that some speedo conversions, (the clever bit) can upset the Hicas, Something about the car thinking its doing less/more than it really is. Fog light switches dont need to be naff. If you fit a naff switch in a naff place thats your silly fault. Take care and buy a nice switch and fit it carefully and its OK.

news on Window Tints
Not disagreeing with you, but it has been ilegal for years and they havent done anything about it. Of course, dark glass is far more of a threat to society than muggers, murders and rapists etc so I am all for the crack down on it.

Whining air-con compressor
Of course it is very hard to say from here, but I have had them when it is the front clutch making the noise and the actual compressor is OK. And this can be replaced with a new unit, without distrubing the actual aircon side, depending on location etc. And if I remember right. But look hard first, you might be lucky.

additional downforce needed
Any fool can see that the problem lies with the angle of attack..add 2.3 degrees more angle and it should be fine.

Is red the fastest colour?
Red cars are driven by people who NEED to BELEIVE they are faster, and have to tell everyone at every oppotunity. Sad really.

anyone got some blown t25 turbos they dont need
Hi, do you know what T400 turbos are good for bhp wise? (each single turbo, not talking about 2 on a Z) Mark

mesh
Rather than No MOre Nails, use a product called Grip Fill. it is far better, but a similar product, came out before NMN and is more "trade". End of story.
-
mesh
I am not an airflow expert or anything, but I think you would be surprised just how much air flow some "mesh" stops. I have heard that some act almost as if they are solid.

overheating problem???
I dont understand the idea that autoboxes dont last over here without a cooler, this implies they do last in Japan, where it is more congested and hotter? I am not saying that a cooler is not a good idea, it is, but this was not the reason for your gearbox only lasting 4 weeks, in all probability it was shot before you bought it, you just did not know.
