Getting vibration through the steering wheel under light+heavy braking at high speed
I had exactly this issue... Replacsed discs etc. better for a bit but still not right; replaced the tie rod bushes and hey presto... check em out mate, if they're still the original OEM item then they've probably had it... You could upgrade to a set of powerflex bushes if you felt like it...

HELP! SKY plus box broken down!
Hi Mate, Check this Link out below... You say all of the lights went off? if that's the case it could have overheated... and letting it cool for 24hrs and restarting it may fix the problem temporarily but it will probably return at some point... if there are no lights at all it's probably not the hard drive as this usually results in the box powering up but not turning on (red standby light only I think) as the box cannot boot without the HDD. hth http://www.digitalspy.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=765778

Impreza sti type r
Hi mate... I've got a type RA... Now the Impreza is a good car but, and this is the same with most performance cars, it will have been driven hard! As it's a jap import you MUST make sure that the oil pump has been upgraded or at least changed especially if it's delimited this is because the Jap spec pump can't keep up with high revs for a long time, that's not a problem in Japan but the UK is a different matter. Check service history, also start the car with the cap of the Expansion bottle (should be front left of engine) if there are any bubbles in the water, like when you open a bottle of coke, walk away, this is a sure sign of Head Gasket failure and a rebuild going to cost approx £3000-£4000. The Subaru has a MAF like the 300 and as long as the standard filter is on it it'll be fine if it's got an after market filter on it it can suffer the same probs as the 300 and a replacement is much the same cost as a 300s. Coil packs should have been replaced. Check under the battery for rust (mines got a hole through the inner wing there) The gear box should be positive but not clunky... Check coming back down the box, you should be able to change from 4th-3rd at approx 50-60 if it crunches then the synchro is on it's way out... That's all I can think of for now... If I think of anything else I'll let you know!!!!!

blue screen of death
obviously you can only do this if you have a second PC to download to... i've just realised that...sorry
-
blue screen of death
you could try this... download puppy linux http://www.puppylinux.org and put it on a memory stick. Turn the PC off and then on and get into the bios setup... once you've done that change the boot order to boot off usb first and save. Stick the memory stick in a usb slot and reboot. This should boot into a very basic desktop and you can then mount the hdd drive in that and see if it's accessable at least (the linux core runs off the usb stick)... hope this make sense... sorry if it doesn't..

What to use for painting a concrete garage base?
Also you could go for a slightly less heavy duty paint and use this sealer... may be cheaper! http://uk.rs-online.com/web/search/searchBrowseAction.html?method=getProduct&R=0494067

air con for a non z
Hmmm... Not saying that I know but I had a P plate Vectra 1.8 LS some years ago and the engine management light came on... anyhow turned out that the AC relay had blown due to me giving some guy a jump start (I know WTF) thing is the car didn't have AC but the loom and all of the connectors were there!!! I guess if it's a modernish they bolt all of the electronics, leaving you with just the mechanics although I can see that being a right PITA!
-
Cycled to work twice this week
Sorry for jumpin in but thought I'd just say I cycle 32 miles a day to work and it's the best decision I ever made... still no six pack though!!!!! Think you'll need to be doing sit-ups or crunches to get there! Although I never had a sixpack so theres probably nothing to recover! Keep it up dude! Oh and it'll get easier on your arse!

In need of Help?
Sorry... I meant AIV not EGR.... Doh!

In need of Help?
Hi, I could be completely off the mark but I don't think the two faults are related,I'm sure someone else more qualified will confirm but; the first fault sounds like the EGR system the if the sound is like a coffee machine that is. SeThe second fault (code 34) is the Det sensor, these I believe are known to go wrong and I think you can bypass with a simple resistor although if you have mods I would recommend getting it replaced, a bit of a job from what I've heard. Like I said I'm no expert and I'd get all of this confirmed but that's my 2 pence worth. HTH

sky broadband (package)
I have... well slightly more expensive at £23 I think, so I get all the basic channels and 1 step up on the broadband I think. It's a little slow and the wireless Router they supply has a range of about 1 meter - It was easy to set up though... My friendshave pretty much all moved from Sky to Virgin and are very happy with it.. Just a thought

Digital Camera's/Photos
Hi mate... The Green dots I believe, if they're in the same place all the time, are dead parts (pixels) of the CCD sensor.. it's just like getting a few dead pixels on a new LCD monitor in affect... HTH

Any members going to....
Not going this year but have gone every year since 99!!! best race of the year and will miss it tbh... Get down to arnarge (sorry fo the spelling) best corner to watch and if you get to the mouleson (again sorry) straight... brilliant.. I'll watch what I can on TV wish I was there... anyhow no zx this year and can't go down in the current ride (scoob) as jsut too... well you know!!! Make sure your cars are up to scratch though (I know they all will be) as the drive is hard and there is alot of standing traffic on the way back... Have a dodgy french lager for me!!!!!! Quavey... I know how you feel... went with a group of friends last year and all was great... except the drive down and back; complete bunch of nob jockeys tbh. I like to drive fast but topping out an M3 against a bike (R1) ain't my idea of fun... to old and too sensible now! anyhow have been recommended the the classic le-mans.. maybe get a group going... Oh and just so you know.. have had 300's until about 2 year ago (was subscribed member) but ended up with scoob :-(really want my my ZX back but got stripped for parts (guy on this site bought/swapped it and stripped :-() Anyhow enjoy le-mans all and hope that the ZX frat will be well turned out!!!!
