  1. Quote: An I thought I was sad knowing Austin Allegro LOL Someone has to know these things.... and most of the time it's not me so this time I had to get in there quick! LOL
  2. Always hated them personally... anyhow the only reason I new was the I was looking at this on Pistonheads and though WTF!!! And looked it up earlier today... guess I'll only earn 5 points then ;-) http://www.pistonheads.co.uk/news/default.asp?storyId=19811
  3. I believe the correct terminology is a 'Quartic Steering Wheel' from an Allegro? Edit my bad Grammer!!!!
  4. It could be the above, at guess though you may have a small leak as I believe you should not get any whistling sound at all. As the engine warms up and the components expand the leak gets less... It is only a theory though... Try getting hold of a boost leak detector as this will help pin point any problem areas... Good luck! Paul
  5. After a couple of years... Haven't go the Zed yet, should be getting it at the end of April!!!!!:duffer::dance:
  6. Hi mate, they're not solonoids, solonoids are in essence an eletro mechanical switch, in this case they'll open to release boost pressure to avoid over boosting (stand to me be corrected as I'm still learning) they are possibly boost jets? Some one will able to say for sure though. As said in a previous thread, get it checked by an expert, they'll be able to tell you what needs to be done to get it running correctly... Paul
  7. Hi mate, can't offer advice to you on the problem as such but I would recommend getting a Consult Diag done... This may show something up.. also the car should be warmed up and stay at the 9 0 clock position... any lower or higher then it isn't running correctly. You aren't to far from Mike Feeney (MJP) he knows these cars and has consult, and will probably point you in the right direction. I'd recommend giving him a call, his number's in the traders section... Thanks Paul
  8. Sorry mate, Legarth is right... What i should have said is check with BMW re. the service history, if you give their customer services a call with the reg. they should be able to tell you what was done when... anyhow as said previously good luck with what ever you decide to do!!!!
  9. nope... Well at least i don't believe so... the nikasil liner issue was solved by march/april 98... However as said previously check it out with BMW first, these cars need as much care as a zed otherwise they will break!!!! Nice brake kit though!!! Good luck with whatever you decide to do!:duffer:
  10. Looks like a wood wasp... I think...
  11. OK, so just did a search on here and turns out that 'Wastegate Chatter' is a myth and/or incorrect terminology (sorry about that everyone, just showing my lack of knowledge there!)... it sounds like you have compressor stall which will kill your turbos quite quickly... are you running uprated turbos with external wastegates?
  12. I'm sure that I'll be corrected but I think the chattering on rally cars is either turbo stall or wastegate chatter, probably a few posts on here about it. I'd get it looked at as it could end up rather costly! Then again it could just be a loose spring in the dump valve... Sorry, that's not the best explanation but it's a start...

    me too....
  14. True, I could do, not sure which is the better option though, switch the circuit out (as it isn't needed anyhow) or just regulate the input... What do you guys reckon is the way to go?
  15. The circuit I'm looking at is tunable i.e. you can set it to go off between 9-12 volts, I will point out at this point that I am not an electronics guru but can follow a diagram so I'm giving it a bash for interests sake just so we're not all under any misunderstanding that I'm going to create some amazing circuit that and cuts alarms/immobilisers in out etc. any how back to the point... I am also thinking that I will need to be able to switch the circuit in and out so that the normal running volts don't fry it as most of the componenets max run voltage is 12v... I don't want to go down the route of useing a seperate power source as this could potentially cause an issue if that runs out so the idea is that it will just look at a feed of the battery and probably switch that in and out via the ignition switch and a realay maybe... Any other Ideas gratefully received?
  16. I can't see that making it switch a relay can be that hard...What are you planning to drive with the relay output?
  17. or you could just try below I guess... lol http://www.cbcdesign.co.uk/alarms/lvld.html
  18. There seem to be a number of circuit diags on the net for this and all are fairly simple... I could have a go a knocking one up if you like? I'm sure there are a few electonics gurus on here who could design one... Happy to have a go for you though, components sumtotal will be a couple of quid so I'll probably give it a go anyhow!
  19. I've had 2 x cobra alarms and both were a bit pants... had 2 laserline alarms and the've been great, you can get full closure units etc. for it aswell... I had it fitted by http://www.covert-installations.co.uk/alarms.html very good imho. hth Paul
  20. Interesting.... "pollution control work" Have you been running on Race fuel...?:p

  22. I think it could be this... Penultimate pic on the rhs of the screen... http://images.google.co.uk/imgres?imgurl=http://www.rvl-group.com/media/ordnance-survey-2.jpg&imgrefurl=http://www.rvl-group.com/rvl-fleet.php&usg=__gz11Dumz6QIy3Q4i5zHBdYuQGd8=&h=133&w=205&sz=21&hl=en&start=1&um=1&tbnid=2PaRq_Fe0Oxp7M:&tbnh=68&tbnw=105&prev=/images%3Fq%3Dordnance%2Bsurvey%2Baircraft%26hl%3Den%26cr%3DcountryUK%257CcountryGB%26sa%3DN%26um%3D1
  23. This has probably been posted before but one of the graphic artists came accross this when doing some research on a film and sent it on to me. Thought I'd post just for interests sake really.. Hope this works!
