  1. Hi Mate, I think what you're hearing is a lifter sticking (no guarantee though)... has the car been stood for a while? It could be a blocked oilway or that all the oil has drained from a lifter which may clear with gentle driving as the oil pressure rises and re-fills it. I drove mine with a tick, tick, tick from a lifter this morning (had been stood for 2 weeks) and it cleared after a few miles. I can't recommend you drive it unless you know for sure what it is and if there's a deeper cause (i.e broken oil pump). If I hadn't known that mine was a lifter (had it before) I wouldn't drive... I think a call to the AA is probably in order mate. It could be a sticky lifter or it could be something else more sinister. Sorry I can't be of more help mate but I'd say better safe than sorry!!! Paul
  2. Hi mate, firstly let me just say I've been in your boat and if you scrap or sell you'll regret it... Secondly, i'm in the same boat as you re. Getting the car to jeff, my car would get there but damage could be caused. My suggestion would be to get the car to someone closer, possibly SWZ, they've got a good rep. and, others may disagree with this, possibly ZTech. I've been ripped off before but the new owner, Chris, is doing good work from what I hear. I think that if you get it to someone that knows zeds then you're laughing, it does sound like it's only the pipes to the matrix so you should be ok once you've got that sorted. Anyhow... Goodluck with whatever you decide to do (just don't scrap it!!!) Paul
  3. Sorry mate, Hadn't seen this... I'd be up for something like this, It sounds like a great idea... My folks live in Devon so wouldn't be to far a stretch to get down to Cornwall... Always up for a laugh, especially when it comes to Cars!!!!! And TBH there's no better place in the middle of summer than the Westcountry!!! How about making it slightly more than just a car meet type thing... There was a biker gathering in Paignton recently and they had a load of events and displays... not saying you should do anything that big but possibly do things like a big BBQ, auto jumble etc? Maybe arrange pub games etc. It's amazing what people will do and how far they'll go to have some fun when the Suns out!!!! Anyhow, I'll have more of a think and post if I come up with any ideas.... Paul
  4. Yep... Got to get it booked in but looks like I've got a month before I can get it to Mr. F to get it looked at... not sure that I want to drive it too far like this and Mike is nearest to me... Anyhow I'm hoping that it's not compression otherwise that's alot of cash I'm looking at... The engines only done 3K!!!! Cheers for the advice!
  5. DAMN, DAMN & DAMN again!!!! Well I've run the Conzult balance test in the past few weeks and it worked OK but Mr. F ran it today and it consistantly failed with only a drop of 30-60... Swapped over Coil packs later on and no change, disconnected injector and there was a drop in performance... I don't believe that it's low compression although it'll be going to see the Mr. F or Jeff to get checked over and hopefully sorted... I'd just like some more thoughts... I know that Conzult should can only point to a fault being present and not to what the fault is but my understanding is that it can only be Compression, Spark or fuel so I am more than a little concerned and slightly panicked!!!! Thanks for the advice in advance guys...
  6. That is one of the greatest sounds I have ever heard!!!!!!!!! Absolutely awesome!:bow:
  7. I've just got the support license from dan @ dta for conzult, not quite sure what I'm looking at yey but happy to help if I can. Will bring laptop and cable to halfway house SE. meet on the 7th just in-case!
  8. Yep... I know mate... I think I'll be taking it up to Geoff to cast his eyes over in the nearish future and as said previously the temp maxed at 87 and that was after pushing it hard for about 3-4 mins... like I say I'll wait and see what happens as the weather heats up but average running temp on Motorway was 84-85 and pootling round town 82-83 consistantly, so I think it's OK at the moment, however I'll be interested to see what happens in high ambient temps I'm guessing everything will raise up by a few degrees... What temps are you seeing when the ambient outside temp is say 25 deg? Thanks again for your help, Paul
  9. Cheers mate... I believe the fans coming on at 83 deg judging by the figures I gained last night... Is this to early?
  10. Cheers guys, Hmmmm... I think A shroud might be in order, The Z centre ad says the fan kit eliminates the need for a shroud...? As said the running temp seems OK at the moment but I'll have to wait until the weather heats up a bit to see what effect that has...
  11. Cheers mate... Well I went for a run Yesterday and gave it some beans... Temp peaked at 87 deg but fan was on so I think it's probably set a little low no worries there though.. On the Motorway it's general temp was about 84-85 with town temps down at 82. I know it wasn't hot out but wasn't cold either... I'll keep an eye on it and see what it does when the weather heats up a bit but I believe those readings are about perfect? Thanks again all, Paul
  12. Hi mate, Firstly welcome! I've had 3 zeds now, an NA which was great (until someone drove into it) a Jap TT bought from a garage/trader that was nothing but trouble and I have just purchased a members car which is without the best decision I ever made... So if you're serious about buying one then I recommend that you at least check the cars for sale on here... Now they will cost more than the cars on the trader or ebay but they are honest cars and you can check the history by going back through members posts etc. if you like. Oh... one last thing... DO NOT buy the first one you see go and look at a few, if you come back to the first so be it, and if the owners are making power claims make sure they have Dyno Graphs and/or receipts for work carried out to get it to that power, remember the cars (TT) came from the factory with 280bhp and with a little effort and cash can see 320 bhp easily but if they're claiming 400 bhp with no supporting mods then walk away. If you do a little research on here then talk to seller, drop in a few easy tech questions if they answer them then it'll probably be worth going to see, if they say something along the lines of ' dunno mate I just drive the car' then probably not worth going to see, remember these are enthusiasts cars now and as such most owners will/should have at least a little tech knowledge. Oh and just so you know parts and running Costs aren't cheap, they're also not massively expensive... When you get one though you won't look back!!!! Anyhow that's just my thoughts... Thanks Paul
  13. Thanks for the Advice Smithy! Will do... I'm Not 100% certain but pretty sure Ron would have set it correctly, everything else on the ca is pretty much perfect.. I will wait though and get ConZult on it to see what temp the engine is actually running at when the Fan comes on. I have a viscous unit on the way but I won't put it on unless completey necessary. Thanks Paul
  14. It would be interesting to see if a 16" is any better as mine is the 14 inch unit which I feel maybe a little lacking... Thanks Andy...
  15. Thanks for the reply. It looks like it's has an adapter that sits in the one of the pipes that come to/from the Rad? Link below to the kit that is fitted http://www.zcentre.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_52_46&products_id=320
  16. Cheers Mate, This is pointing in the Direction I thought it probably would... I think I'll put a post in the items wanted section...
  17. Cheers Mate, I was wondering if that's the way to go... I don't know if it's worth just going back to the viscous unit though?
  18. Hi all, My car (Radrons) has the Z centre Electric fan kit on it with the Z1 Howe Radiator. Now I believe the fan is set to come on around 85-88 Deg C. The Fan is pretty much on all of the time once the Engine gets to temp and seems to run on for approx 10-15 mins after the car is switched off. The temp Guage (Stock) sticks pretty much in the Centre although I know these are unreliable. Now I think the engine is probably running a little hot and after doing some searching on here it seems that people have reverted back to the Viscous unit and that this seems to provide better results in terms of overall running temp. So is this the case or should I stick with the Electric Fan? I am awaiting a License for ConZult as Ron is getting it switched to me so I'll be able to tell exactly what the running temp is. I'm hoping it's not much above 90 deg TBH. Also on the Fan units where does it take a measurement for Coolant Temp? Thanks in advance for the replies, :duffer: Paul
  19. Yes welcome!!! Get some pics uploaded matey!!!
  20. Damn you all!!! I'm just too slow LOL!!!
  21. It's a fuse mate... Drivers footwell by the loud pedal... Top row third from the left if memory serves... Hth
  22. I should have just left it alone... I know Ron would not have had it set incorrectly... Still I've set the warning settings to how they were so all back and good to go!!!
  23. It's got the Z1 GT600 Turbos and forged internals, Jeff set the boost controller up up so I believe it's correct... It is a bit Crazy but the car is running Racelogic with Falken 452's to put the power down, I have to say that the Race Logic is brilliant and I don't think I could control the car without it at the moment! I think I'll be driving it around on the Lo setting and use the Hi for Power runs... I will say this though... The Car is RAPID!!!!!!!
