Upper Link Adjustable Camber Arms
Hi all, Just after a little advice; my cars at Zedworld for it's MOT and a couple of other bits... It failed the MOT on movement in the upper Arms (already adjustable fitted by Previous owner) on the Front . Jamie has looked and basically they can't be tightened anymore so need replacing. For MOT purposes we're replacing with a stock item but obviously long term I need to replace with another decent adjustable set... I've looked at both Driftworks and the Zed centre sets and both look like they'ed do the job... question is does anyone have any experience with either make or can someone recommend a decent alternative?? Cheers in advance Paul :online2long:

Insurance on Highly modified Zeds.. £775 reasonable?
Oops, I too forgot to mention my insurance company, I'm insured through a broker called Keith Michaels; I am based in a London Borough though so hence the High price; I got a quote to keep the car at my folks in Devon and it fell to just over £500 :cursing:

Respray Costs, advice, recommendations...
Hi all, Looking to get some figures and advice together on a respray for the Zed as the 20 year old paint is starting to suffer a bit and there's dents and stone chips all over the place, the front passenger side arch has some rust in it and the rear drivers side is starting to bubble :censored:. So questions are: Passenger side front, am I better off replacing the whole wing or cutting out and re-welding? Rear Drivers side I guess we'll have to cut out and re-weld? (When I say I what I mean is body shop) How much should I be looking at for a same colour respray in Arctic white? And lastly can you guys recommend a good body shop to take this work on? I suspect there are varying degrees of respray from a blow over to bare metal; I think I need something in between the two but am hoping that you guys can help out. I'll try and post some pics of problem areas etc. later tonight or tomorrow. Thanks Paul

Any of you South Central, South Wales or Midlands lot bored this weekend?
Could a lonely Southeast member pop along? I'm visiting my folks in Exeter and could come along on the way home; the zed needs a respray but would love to meet up with some of you guys. Oh, and I could bring my Conzult as-well but you'll need someone to read it correctly...

guitar help
I am by now means an expert on this but what I found until I got to frustrated with it was 1. effects pedals, to get anywhere near the sound of any of those bands require a number of pedals or a multi effects simulater. 2. alot of the songs use a different guitar tuning i.e. drop D which gives a completely different sound... The people I do know that play in bands etc. all said when I started learning that I was aiming to high with things like mettalica and start with easier tunes.... I'm sure that there are plenty more people on here that can comment more sensibly on this.... hth Paul

Gutted!
Same for me on a BMW 5 series... All seemed fine till mot time and then told you've got a broken spring... I can't believe that the increase in speed bumps around my area hasn't contributed to this...

Buying a 300zx for the first time
Doesn't look too shabby, it could do with a good clean though!!! Just a couple of thoughts... I'm not an expert but I have gone through a few Zeds now so hope that this is good advice; Firstly it looks to have had a boost controller fitted; this isn't a problem as long as it's set up properly, if the garage are import specialists hopefully they'll know how to check what the hi and lo boost settings are and let you know, anything over 14-15psi then you really need to get the car checked over by a specialist, secondly it's had BOV's fitted, these can cause issues with rough running, some members here have issues and some don't... and its missing the relay/fuse box cover in the engine bay... That's from what I can see from the pics... Other than that it looks like it could stand to be a good example, as always with these things buy with your head and not your heart and if you have any doubts then ask here, there are some very knowledgable people on this forum, it could be worth giving Zedworld a call, they're based in Tamworth, they will be able to tell you obvious things to look out for etc. and there aren't many people that know more about Zeds than Jeff and his team! Anyhow good luck with the purchase!

£120 for all that work a good Plumber and piece of mind is a bargain imo... In London you could be paying £120/hr depending on where you are...

my car is a slow starter
Not necessarily connected but when I had my variable fuel pressure Reg fitted I noticed that it would take a couple of extra secs to start. Usedto start immediately but now takes a couple of secs so I guess the Reg could cause slow starting...

Problem with SKY TV
Ok, I feel I need to say this as I'm I'm starting to feel a little guilty. For the sake of £65 it's worth having the guys out to try and sort your problems. Just think of it as an hours labour. However it maybe the problem cannot be fixed and you'll need to get a new box etc. So you may aswell try a few things first before you pay out the cash for new box etc. Rubble; sounds to me like your card is not paired with your box properly (no guarentee though) call sky and ask them to pair it again. If no joy then chances are that the box box needs a software upgrade as described earlier in this thread. If you do this upgrade and it fails or screws the box then it's new box time I'm afraid. Lammypie; let us know how you're getting on; are you doing anything that you normally wouldn't I.e. Leaving doors open on a tv cabinet. Let us know. Paul

Problem with SKY TV
Hi mate, Jmwuk has given you instruction on updating of the box software if youhave done that it may well sort the problem however in case it didn't I'll add a couple of bits... 50% signal strength isn't bad... But it isn't great either. I am interested to know if the channels come back if the box is left alone rather than reset. If it only comes back when reset then it's probably new box time, if however they comes back by themselves with no intervention from you it is possible your dish could have moved slightly. Let me know if this is the case. I have a spare box so could send it up to you to see if the fault follows but would like to get more understanding of the fault first. Thanks Paul.

Problem with SKY TV
Hi mate, Is it a group of channels that dissappears i.e. all ITV's or BBC's or just a random collection? Also when this happens what does the signal strength look like? Will the channels only come back when you reset the box or will they come back of their own accord? Has anyone been working near your Sat Dish or has it been covered by the Snow and possibly moved ever so slightly? Next time it happens see what the signal stregnth says. Check Sky TV signal quality by pressing "Services" on the Skybox handset, then press "4" for "System Setup" and "6" for "Signal Test". Typical readings off a Sky box in dry weather under clear skies in the south of the UK are about 70 - 80% signal strength and 60 - 70% signal quality. Let us know how you get on... Paul

Cool, You're not to far from where my Gran lives... I may well taking you up on your polishing offer (why does that sound so wrong)! Good luck finding the bit you need... you can always call Mike at MJP; he can get the parts you'll need and he has a good body shop near him... They mainly work on Classic Lotus so they know what they're doing!!!!!
