A post on here recently had a link to a tuning company who dyno,d a bmw with various higher octane fuels. Tesco 99 beat the optimax.It kept its octane rating for longer and the guy rated it highly.

What fan set up you running,have you had the viscous removed and an electric one put on in its place? Is the cooling system being pressurised by combustion gas?

Zed handbrakes are bad and wouldnt do a lot anyway.Youd probaly break the shoes hold down springs with the load so i wouldnt bother personally.Drift cars handbrakes are hydraulic and work on the caliper so you can lock the back wheels at crazy speeds.

Am i right in saying that the vauxhall 1.9 diesel is the renault engine.If it is then they are good for high miles.My old man had a 52 plate laguna 1.9 with 217,000 on it,he sold to a mate and its still happy as larry now.

So you dont think the air having more surface area to cool the rad is going to be beneficial then ?

i think your confusing the expansion tank dipstick with the engines Mikey.The expansion tank dipsticks tend to get brown and stained.

If your cars lost its mojo mate,chances are since you cleaned the connectors one is not readable by the ecu causing safety boost.Check your ecu codes.

Dont do it Al,Before you know it youll be playing squash on fridays with a bloke called Gerald.You will develop a taste for wine and go to wine bars where you will socialise instead of getting mullered at yer local.

At least with the heads off you can admire those shiny new pistons a bit longer.Always seems a shame to cover them up.Something about shiny new engine parts.I love em :D

Good work bud.once youve done a few its not bad at all and can be done remarkably quick.Did you leave the a/c compressor on the engine? You can leave it behind like the power steering pump.Be 100% sure the oil line is good as tubs dont seize for no reason.

Another bit of advise is dont waste money on a high flow oil pump.Only engines running low tolerances need these for full on race applications.On your engine the pump will rob horsepower supplying oil thats not needed which just gets returned back to the sump.

In my experience of building engines id say the power your engine produced had no effect on the premature failure of the bearings.Its more lightly to be caused by another factor.Maybe the crank journals or bearings were not sized right.Was the engine spotless when assembled and all galleries blown through with compressed air.is your oil pump up to scratch? Im not a great believer in "RACE" Bearings as all this usually means is the babbit or final white coating is not present.The bearings should have coped so id look elsewhere first.

3/8 o2 socket is no good really.half inch for drivers side.I did have to use my 3ft long snap on ratchet to shift it!! and you will have to use an o2 sensor crowfoot for the passenger side.Si,s came out quite easy but the thread damaged on the drivers side so had to undo the 32mm sized elbow insert and run a thread chaser down it.Get one if your doing them,As the threads can be poor and need a clean up.

Count me out mate for the 5th.Ive got other plans that day.

Buy yourself an oil can.Fill it with brake fluid and back bleed the system through the slave nipple.It may take half a litre of fluid pushed through but it always works on the most trickiest of cylinders.Have used this method many times with great success.
