Knock/det sensor
Hi Mate.in my experience its the connecting loom thats shot and not the sensor.Mjp should be able to get you one.

Fuel pressure
Im sure the figure is around 37 on idle.So yours is working as it should. With the gauge connected pull the vac pipe and it should climb to 43.Under boost you should see 43 plus what ever your boost pressure is iirc.

car wont start
Check the connections on the cas and ptu mate.If the pins are green give them a clean.

One cylinder not firing
If you want to see if the injector is working.Put the ignition on to prime the fuel rail, remove the injector and spark plugs and power up the injector using some wire and a 9v battery whilst shining a torch into the combustion chamber. You should see and smell the fuel being injected into the cylinder.

How much did you buy your zed for????
Paid £2600 for mine in 2005.jdm manual fresh in the country. Was cheap then for a manual tt.It did have blown engine though.Prolly spent 6k since or maybe more.Lost count.Bit cheaper when you do all the work yourself though.

non start and petrol smell
Why dont you check for error codes first before wading in and buying a new ptu.Diagnosis by replacement is an expensive hobby.Youll kick yourself if it turns out to be dirty connection which needed cleaning up.What i find bizarre is it made 100miles then died. You waited 15 minutes then it started everytime since.A zeds engine bay wont lose much temperature in 15 minutes. The reason the ptus fail when hot is because of joins inside that fracture then expand under heat so the circuit is broken.Worth a look.Ptu,s do fail but its not as common as people make out.I know of loads of cars running series ones that have never missed a beat.Mine included.

Nice e bay zed
Interiors a bit cluttered with the stuff strapped to the console etc.Bumper has lights like an evo.

engine removal how-2
My advice is to leave the box in the car.Once you lower the engine a few inches on the front crossmember you can get down the back and undo the four top bell housing bolts and the harness "p" Clip fixed at the back of the block.Ive done both ways over the years and the box in method is far easier imho.

"you win again"
Well done Vince,Is the trophy bling enough for you or does it need chroming?

people views on 350z's
Unless you can get the car for a steal id stay away from crash damaged cars. The bottom has fell out of the salvage market. All the firms around here are right on their arses as nobody is buying them as the purchase price plus the cost to repair works out more than buying a straight one.One of our local salvage companies was trade only and you had to register to buy is now e baying cars in desperation.

Tesco 99 in Weston S Mare
A post on here recently had a link to a tuning company who dyno,d a bmw with various higher octane fuels. Tesco 99 beat the optimax. It kept its octane rating for longer and the guy rated it highly.

overheating problem on my moneypit
What fan set up you running, have you had the viscous removed and an electric one put on in its place? Is the cooling system being pressurised by combustion gas?
-
stupid question and i probably already know the answer
Zed handbrakes are bad and wouldnt do a lot anyway.Youd probaly break the shoes hold down springs with the load so i wouldnt bother personally.Drift cars handbrakes are hydraulic and work on the caliper so you can lock the back wheels at crazy speeds.

Is this a high milage (non zed)
Am i right in saying that the vauxhall 1.9 diesel is the renault engine. If it is then they are good for high miles. My old man had a 52 plate laguna 1.9 with 217,000 on it,he sold to a mate and its still happy as larry now.

Keep it COOL baby... Rad advice...
So you dont think the air having more surface area to cool the rad is going to be beneficial then ?
-
overheating....i think!
i think your confusing the expansion tank dipstick with the engines Mikey. The expansion tank dipsticks tend to get brown and stained.
-
What you doing to your zed at the moment?
 aww go on!! let me trash it.I want to put a rope around it,tie it to a tree and drive backwards.
