Under cold start conditions fuelling is increased.As the car is only idling it cant burn the rich mixture fully so the bores get washed by fuel.Bore washing is when the oil on the bores which is whipped up by the crank gets washed away causing wear and glazing.This applies to all petrol vehicles turbo or non turbo.If you read any owners manual it will state the vehicle should be driven straight away and brought up to temperature gently.

What doesnt help in the states is a lot of drugs can be found in prepared medications.iirc you can still get Amphetamine based diet drugs and anti depressants with Ecstasy in.All banned over here years ago.

You wont love it when the engines died.That is one of the worst things you can do to a car.Your bores will glaze up in time and it will lose compression.

Worn hicas inner joint probaly.Was the old tyre worn more on the inside.Its a good giveaway sometimes that the joint needs replacing.

If it turns over slow and all the engines earths are good and the battery is a good un,its the starter .The 1.8 engines can suffer with lazy starters.Diesels which have indirect injection need to turn over at a good speed to create heat which they rely on to start.To check for a bad earth run a jump lead from the battery negative to the engines lifting eye,if it flies over youve sussed it.Check your earths and the main connection at your starter.

o2 sensors wouldnt cause the problem your having.it will be something else.Carry out the checks Jeff mentioned first,You could unplug both o2 sensors and it would not make it backfire.

Hi Bud,to answer your question mate imho id stick with the vg30.The conversion costs could be put towards bomb proofing it.The rb suffers from pretty much the same probs as the vg anyway.The only downside about the vg30 is the cost of fitting two tubs.Thats why people fit rb,s as you have lots of room to whack a huge single tub on there.The downside of rb tuning is that high spec parts are not abundant in the US like vg parts so the cost will be higher.

You dont think maybe the fact it prolly wasnt done right in the first place may have had some bearing on that :rolleyes:

The gt28rs is a great choice and suited to the 300zx.The gt535s or jwt530 bb is also a very good turbo with very aggressive low down spooling and more than capable of 500hp.

As soon as she even hints bud about driving yer motor get it down and we can get it fitted. If you like we could disconnect the booster circuit to make the clutch real heavy also :D

Firstly if you know someone with a consult see what the AAC valve value is at idle with the engine warmed up.it should be no more than 25% iirc.If it is it will be compensating for some other issue like an air leak.The car may not be reading the g/box neutral switch also which will make it rev high.
