There was a car at Jae today which had a carbon bonnet with bonnet struts fitted. I have been told that you can not fit a bonnet strut to a carbon bonnet as it will damage it. However this guy had not attached the strut to the bonnet but had made a bracket which was fixed to the brackets which hold the bonnet on. Very good idea and a solution to people wanting struts on a carbon bonnet.

Well...Just got back. What a fantastic weekend, even though I'm knackered. Firstly I want to say a huge CONGRATULATIONS to JASON FARROW, for Winning BEST CAR OF THE ENTIRE JAE SHOW, Which is an awesome achievement, as the competition was strong. and This is great news for the ZED, as it means that a 20 year old car can still show the new boys how things are done. I'm sure Jason is still Smiling. :D I would also Like to thank the following People... Has any body tried doing this and would it be cost effective?? Or would I be better spaying it the pearl yellow it already is?? been trying to track down a few running issues today and made a bit of progress. changed the plugs as it had a set of pfr6b11 s in but this has not improved the idle really. so i made up a pressue tester. first major leak was from the n/s turbo feed (the concitenered section) this is never under boost so i doubt that this will help much. there are no other leaks from the front. there are several at the back-one i think is from the idle valve area which i have removed before so i will take this off again and re seal up. i also noticed a bubbling noise which i guess must be coming from the cam covers as the crank case will be pressurised. i do…

I'm hopefully going to get my 99 spoiler fitted soon. Is that something I need to tell the insurance about, seeing as it's kind of stock? Guess the safe thing would be to ring them and explain what it is and see what they say. Have other people had to declare it as a mod?

Hi all, Wheels balanced, followed by alignment and still she pulls to the left :) and brakes unevenly. What else could it be. New tyres on the front, rear look even. Running on 225/50/16's. Could this be a steering rack issue? Suspension related? The steering wheels predictably shakes at 80mph and nothing has changed since the balancing/alignment last weekend. Any ideas? Thanks, Alex

I wonder if anyone can confirm if my ECU is an unmodified stock version off a 1994/95 TT auto? Also, does anyone know what this setting is on the side of the ECU? I'm seriously thinking about changing to a JWT ECU and swap the whole thing out. Is this the way to go or is there a cheaper way that achieves the same outcome? Many thanks, Alex

fitted my carbing strut bar the other day and im concerned by the threads on the shock turret mounts... as you can see, the thread isnt into what i would class, in my line of work, as 'in safety'. 1.5 threads should come through or its a no go. should the carbing have a different type of nut to fasten it down? cheerZ

Im interested in a car Clicky which looks good on paper. I've chatted to the owner, he seems like a straight up guy, etc, etc. He informs me that the only current issue with the car, aside from a couple of rust bubbles, is that the overdrive currently isnt working. More specifically, gears 1-3 are fine, but it wont go into fourth. He doesnt recommend I drive it up motorways or A roads accordingly. He knows a guy who works for a transmission specialist who can supposedly fix it for £150-200 who he says would do a very good job. Has anyone experienced this problem before? Does the price sound reasonable (for the fix job)? He says he'll take me to his local tr…

  17. Finally managed to strip away the original wires from the connector block on the steering column today to re-fit the cruise control button panel which is now soldered straight in. I've sorted a place to fit the CC buttons which will look flush fitting and factory. Plugged the CC ECU back in and it all works as it should. The only problem being is that if I select cancel, or turn it off (without turning off the master switch) the revs will stay at just under 1800rpm. If I turn the system off completely, then eventually it returns to a normal idle speed. Is there just need for adjustment of the tension on the butterfly? CC cable has more slack than the norma…

Finally got these fitted after I received them from W1NG gawd knows how many months/years ago! Got a new set of vents from Baz and drilled them into the covers, then spent ages carefully filing down the edges until the covers fitted into the indentation around the stock vents. Re-fitted the daylight sensor and hey presto. Not a perfect job but I do like the look - I have carbon fibre-look B-pillar covers too. Fingers are full of plastic splinters! :smw:

Hi i need some advise as i have just replaced both my turbos as the bearings on the left one had collasped. Got the engine back in and running now and started getting noise from the left hand one again. Been running for only a day to clear out all the crap in the system and then just started getting the grinding noise on the left side. Just had the downpipe off and same problem again the bearings are collasping and this was a good recon turbo with no freeplay when fitted. Im thinking there must be a problem with oil feed to that side but not sure where to start. Ive got one more turbo left which was the good one off the right side and need to sort it this time.…

Well driveing on the way to work last night, and ten mins into my trip smoke started comeing out of the dash and threw my vents and down by my feet,so pulled over, opend the door and notice water running looked under the car and noticed it was not comeing from the engine,it was dripping from my seal, then notice the carpet on the drivers side and pass were a bit wet,so with all this i take it that it will be my heater matrix that has gone, and if so i take it my dash is going to have to come out to get to it  and all this after ive just fitted my new stereo  so a wee ? is this hard to sort and how much would a part like this cost???
