Well, it's my own fault for not addressing it when I first noticed the paint bubbles :crying: the great killer of 300zx's everywhere has taken hold of my rear sills and subsequently caused her to fail the mot. I've found a local garage that will repair the sills, if I supply the panels, for £300, but thats on the condition they don't find the rot has gone too far. Does that sound about right price wise? On the other hand I could get myself a mig welder and have a bash at it myself, although I'm scared I'll bugger it up and be left in a worse position than I started in. I really don't want to have to resort to breaking the car for parts, she's only an n/a auto, …

Has anybody come across the new rules starting in May this year, aftermarket HID lamps will be a rejection in a lamp not designed too run them originally.Bit of a PITA if your testers cute and knows they should not be fitted and fails the car.

  3. Just reminiscing & wondering if anyone on here knows of or still has my 1st Zed? a 96 midnight purple n/a P503 WMJ Checked the gov website it's SORN'd & last tax 2011...... Sold it to Jack a member on here but I think he sold it on, wish I'd never let her get go even if she has been replaced twice.....

Water is coming out as fast as its going in, we've got the z on a ramp and from looking underneath it seams to be coming from the gearbox bell housing, thoughts to it being the core plug behind the fly wheel. What are the chances of it being that is there any more water pipes that we have missed near by to this area.

Hi guys After reading some of the great rebuild threads I feel inspired to refurbish the underside of my car. Current it's not in a bad state, in fact Jim told me it was clean however I want better. I could by new but it seems that the grade of the finish from new isn't up to much. So what I'm hoping for from those of you that have done this is a list of parts that I can get stove enamelled. You might say that I could just pull off what I've got on my car BUT I've not got the time, space nor knowledge to do this so I'm hoping to prep a load of parts for Jimmer to fit next time I visit him. Forgot to say it's for a UK twin turbo manual LWB. Cheers,…

  7. Started by Mondo,

Does anyone know any of the proper names of the various cloths used in the Z32 throughout the production run...? I'm not talking "Tweed" or "Velour" here - I mean the actual names that Nissan use to identify the different fabrics used. I'm hoping Andrew or Funky (or other old skoolers) will be able to help with this one :)

Has anyone deleted their clutch booster ??

  9. Thinking about renewing these as they're still the originals as part of preventative maintenance when my car goes in to Jimmer's for the clutch and flywheel upgrade. I have heard they occasionally fail? I believe when they fail, they can make the system wheeze a little when off-throttling. Has anyone else experienced this?

Is there a general rule-of-thumb equation to roughly how much ride height will affect camber on the Z32? Appreciate it's not very scientific as the true values will only come out via full alignment, I'm just looking at various after market suspension components and their limitations.

  13. Started by Sir Charles,

So I am on the look out for a Z32 project. My only requirements are that it is a manual twin turbo, not bothered about wheelbase, not bothered about colour and condition I am flexible. I don't want an absolute rat but don't mind a little bit of rot or paint. Doesn't have to have an MOT either but I wont pay silly money for one without. So please let me know if you have anything

So I need to replace the tyres on my 300 and while I'm at it I might as well give the wheels a refurb while the tyres are off. I thought I'd get the opinions of you guys to see what you would do. I've had black chrome before and a bright silver and I've like both those colours. I'm toying with the idea of the oil slick look. Oh and before anyone points out that I'm meant to be returning to standard, sticking the standard wheels against that paint job would look terrible in my opinion and I'm not doing the paint until the rest of the car is finished.

Hi guys I need a new set of rubber fitted to my wheels. Currently the tyres are 235 on the front and 265 on the rear. How can you tell if the wheel can take a wider tyre as the rears look a little "stretched" to me? Cheers, Chris.

  20. I'm trying to make a 300zx clock run on a battery. I was all confident but I cant make it work. I thought the clock was a serviceable item. So I assume the battery has insufficient current??? I have been using crocodile clips and short lengths of wire to try and get it to do something but there are no signs of life at all. Any ideas? And does anyone know which wires are which. I thought black was earth, blue was live and the others are to dim it. Help please.

Hey everyone, I thought I'd treat the car too some new sparkplugs, since I've never changed them during my ownership. I got some Ngk pfr6b-11 laser platinums, as recommended by many a forum search. So today I set about changing them, and the ones that came out were ngk bkr6ek. After a quick search these seem to be for a Toyota mr2! Now I've owned this 300zx for almost a year now, and it's never once missed a beat, it's an NA, so I'm guessing if it was a TT I'd have had a lot more problems but still, pretty shocked it worked, the plugs don't even look similar!

  22. Hi everyone, haven't had any problems for ages. Went out in the car for a run around the other week and brakes decided to not work in slow traffic. Phooed myself and had to use gears. Ive got a set of Brembo to go on (had them for years!!) but just asking if there are any common failures now these ladies are getting older. I haven't had a look around it yet but just trying to get a little feed back before I go at looking at servo etc...... It might be just the fact I have only done about 4000 miles in the last 5 yrs. Gotta get my ass in gear this year!!! Cheers

  23. Hi all, its been a while since i've been about and was wondering what was happening with the big re-trim group buy started last year. I have just tried to ask on the thread set up but it won't let me write anything to ask about what is happening!? Have I missed something? or is Mondo beavering away? Just I needed to know how far things have got!? Cheers Happy New Year!!

Hi, could someone give me a pointer in how to "split" apart the housing on the mirrors without damaging the housing or mirror please? I have read on US forums that on JDM mirrors, you need to remove the small screw on the underside of the casing before be able to get the glass out. You will see that my mirror housing does not have this screw in place, and I am reluctant to try prising the glass out at this stage. Thanks guys.

Yesterday, I met up with my dad and friend in his TVR for a meet and drive around Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire. Was really good fun! Car was one of 5 other jap cars (out of over 100 cars) and got many looks and comments! It was a nice cruise out, just shame about the weather! Leaving the car park was good fun. Loads of people were lining the pavements around Stur and it felt like starting a gumball rally! Lots of people taking pictures and cheering. I gave them a couple of revs and a wheel spin or two
