General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Just want to quadruple check this, have done a manual conversion some time ago, and set my timing to 25 BTDC, but just read somewhere it should be at 15-17 max?....

Guys as part of my build i am going wide body , the rear apron is a strosek type with two oval apertures and an adjoining "split" i will need to get a new exhaust and would love to get a twin 2x3" back box arrangment .....im not sure how this will look with the rear apron does anyone have a wide body with exhausts they can post up ..i want something that looks right ..sounds burbly ..but not intrusive at speed on the motor way .....any advice warmly recieved steve

Got my car in a garage doing work, Having gearbox conversion carried out aswell as cambelt kit and water pump changed, thermostat changed, EGR removed and any other junk not needed like my Hicas Solenoids (hicas removed) i have been advised by a mate to get the cam seals done as they are cheap and worth doing whilst down there. i already have vac pipes and water bypass kit to be fitted and replaced Can anyone advise me on what else could/should be done that is simple whilst front is off? i can then order parts and send them to mechanic :):red_indian:

hi All back in the fold after a few years....was a fuly paid up member before "Stebbi" never got rid of the zed........BUT basicaly became friendly with a former member on here and agreed as he had his own ZX specialist garage he would do the hi power rebuild i wanted doing....and as he had another forum for zeds i started posting on there ...anyway my car went in April 2008 3 months after its full respray for a serious power hike and internal forged rebuild , the money changed hands as he was just really starting out and needed the capital for the machining etc etc ...i sourced all my parts from either Smithy or Danny Zatt DTA ( great blokes if anybody ever needs anythin…

i have a bit of an uneven idle on the old girl at the moment . have been advised that it could be a faulty water temp sender / connecter . if there is a fault in this area can the senders be tested with a voltmeter . does anybody know what the voltage range is on these as the temperature rises . cheers

Hi all As some of you know I've been selling off bits of my track spec zed. Well it would appear that someone wanted it all but didn't want to pay!!!!! Early hours of sunday morning I had my turbos, brakes and wheels/tyres nicked. I have just done a Transmission Diagnostic and it is throwing up the code for "Speed Sensor circuit shorted or disconnected. Is this because my speedo has packed up, and is it likely to cause any problems until speedo is sorted ? Thanks Guys.:bow: By the way, the Odometer is still reading o.k. :confused:

Can anyone recomend a positive battery terminal that I can connect 3-4 cables of differing size to? I have had a couple that display the battery voltage but they don't fit properly and pop of!

Hi guys, im just about to swap my original bose headunit, but i know the wiring colours are different for the bose set up(i have the bose speakers with individual amps for each speaker) than they are for the other factory fitted headunits. Ive done searches on various websites but all the wiring diagrams are different to mine. all i need to know is the colour of the constant live, acc, and earth as im running new speaker wire anyway. any help greatly appreciated cheers Si

Hi folks, Gave the car a bit of extra TLC on the weekend. Have taken the advice of another forum member (Damo) and invested in some serious car cleaning kit. It wasn't cheap but then, when you break the cost down per wash, it ain't sooo bad. Wish I could post some pics, but unfortunately you can't see the detail, so it would just be more photos of my car, which still looks the same - black etc. Anyway, I was a little sceptical about how much of an improvement all the kit would make, but I have been totally blown away. Well, my first real drive completed without any hiccups! After the coolants leaks, pas leaks, vacuum leaks (caused by the garage whilst attempting to fix the pas, with another minor one I still need to find), safety boost (put the resistor back in and its gone!), wrong sized tyres (previous owner and I had them replaced like for like without checking!), broken sill (jacked up too close to the rear wheel and it sank - still to fix) I was 'forced' to use the zed for my work commute - and it made it! The only identifying marks/names on my aftermarket jap import exhaust is "burnout"?! When I try a search the only info I find is of cars doing burnouts :oops: Has anyone heard of this manufacturer? Thanks in advance.

My speedo has packed up in my jap n/a. Odometer still working. Still nothing when chip removed (back to kmph). Reckon speedo head must be knackered ?? I have found a British instrument set that came out of a TT. Will that go straight in and read right without the chip ? do I still need the chip to delimit ? Thanks a lot .:helpsmilie:

Was suprised to know about if i pull 1 click on me handbrake it hardens the rear shocks on a uk spec, love to know how that works, couldnt find it in my book either, got to be there somewhere

I bought some used nismo 555's. Id like to test them before installing them. Whats the correct way/readings to test with a meter. Thanks
