  1. Hi all, Looking for your advice as some of you may have successfully deal with this problem before. I've recently bought a Z OEM steering wheel which has turned out to be...terrible. The attached photos tell the story. Is there any way of dealing with the damage and wear and tear that you can see in the photos, for example using leather conditioners, dyes etc? The obvious next step should be to return the wheel however if there is anything I can do, then I will certainly have a go! Thanks. Well as some of you may have seen, i had a problem with my auto box not selecting gears recently. I followed some advice from you guys and swapped fluid, no difference, then took of sump and cleaned out strainer, and replaced the fluid again. Hey Presto she worked, drove a couple of miles last night no problem so i took hr into work today but i noticed that at low speeds, (ie 1st and 2nd gear) she is changing gear ok but there is a slightly high pitched whirring noise (also in P when you rev - same noise) This noise is not noticeable when in higher gears. When i say she is changing gears ok, when i start her up and stick it in D there is more of a noticeable jolt tha…

Hi all just after a little bit of advice for my zx over winter. I am taking it off the road this week and rebuilding it over the next 6-8 months. The car will be covered with a water resistant car cover but is there anything else I should do to protect it as I don't want it rotting away or seizing up. I am also going to take pads out. As discs and pads are brand new. Reason for taking zx off road is due to a tapetty / sticking valve noise from rear passenger cylinder so I need to strip it down and have a look plus I am going to do big power and weight reduction mods ready for nurburgring in June. Any advice on prep for winter and modifications are welcome as I am new…

For any of you that have had the misfortune to snap a bolt on the downpipe end of the turbo elbow - what have you done to remove it? I've got 2 snapped on the nearside sticking out a few mm from the flange and 1 on the o/s thats snapped flush. Trying to drill them out is proving difficult to say the least as normal HSS drill bits dont do much - it took me about 20 minutes of drilling to get about 1mm into one of the bolts. What are my options? I thought about removing the elbow from the turbo but thought if a stud there it's an engine out job to correct and I dont have an engine crane. My brother reckons I need a cobalt steel drill bit and that should speed the drilling u…

Hi All, Anyone had any experience with Clear HP166 tyres? ive got some on the back of my zed at the mo, but as ive never heard of them, im wondering if its worth replacing them for something better? Wouldnt be a hard decision to upgrade if they were nearly worn out, but annoyingly they still have 6mm of tread. Advice much appreciated! Brillo

just checking a few things out on a sunny sunday as you do and jacked the rear of the car up and was shocked to feel how much left and right play i could feel when holding the wheels, jesus the most ive ever felt in any car. I pretty much felt and even looked like the steering rack as i could see the track rod end moving but felt like it wasnt just those? i am replacing the rear rack with the driftworks kit shortly but just wondered if this is normal? james

Running problems can present themselves slowly over a period of time and as such when trying to resolve them it can be difficult to accurately pin point when something actually started playing up. So the humble air filter or should be say induction kit / system, over the years these have been marketed as upgrades with no mention of the down sides that can occur, one of which many here will know about or have encountered ....rain /spray when driving in bad weather. But what about dry sunny day issue?? we have seen many more zeds with issues in the Summer time than in the bad weather months with running issues due to faulty or incompatible units. An oppo…

Righty-o As most people know i've got two zeds, a NA and a TT ! I've receently removed both plenums in order to do a plenum swap ! I've been told theres no reason this cant be done but heres the problem i'm now facing ! The Silver NA has two hard copper pipes that join into the plenum as the picture below shows : Now the problem is on the plenum off the TT there is actually just two cover plates which seal over the two holes, my 96 TT doesn't have these pipes and when trying to fit the plenum from the TT everything nearly lines up but the pipe bracket the bolts go into on one side angle has changed and now does not fit ! …

......For zedding!! I can get used to these sunny autumnal weekends - just right for taking the ZX on another day out. This time we hit the Cotswolds with a nice run out to Stow on The Wold. I do love the road between Burford and Stow - 10 miles of fun; just like it was made for a 300zx.....:batman: My insurance is up for renewal in 4 weeks and I've still got 400 miles left to do, to get my money's worth.... ...... I'm visiting a friend in Suffolk on Wednesday so if it's a fine day, guess which car I'll be taking.....:whistling: Richard:cool3:

I've just done a conversion from a UK 300zx TT manual (Gumball 3000's old car) to a NA SWB Convertible Auto, changed the engine, ECU, Boost controller, manual box etc, but the flippin thing won't start. Have done the auto box relay by-pass under the drivers footwell, did the ECU check (showed 55 - all good), removed the fuel pump fuse to check if there was a flood but no joy. Both cars were working fine before the conversion. I removed one of the spark plugs but not getting any spark although there is some voltage getting there. Engine is turning over & fuel pressure good, can any body help with what could be the issue with no spark at plugs? Almost bald from pulling …
