I have recently had new discs and pads fitted and had brake fluid changed. However, my brakes are still rubbish, the car shakes when braking and under very hard braking the pedal goes to the floor. Do I need yet more discs and maybe change master cylinder or somthing? Cheers, Dan

Well.... Its seems like ive been working on the zed for months. (oh wait, it has been months!) This week was meant to be the week it burst into life. After getting it all together, it wouldn't start. Cranking, but no spark! After talking to Jeff and going through everything, nothing got it to work. I read the ECu and it was trying to give me this weeks lotto numbers! As advised, i left the battery off overnight, and got the all clear code in the morning. After trying to start it, got code 34. Im not a mechanic, but ive had my mate with me who is for most of the journey. He's put it down (he thinks anyway) to it being a faulty wire, somewhere be…

As my zed being poorly, and needing new sills doing. i have neglected her for a fair while. but due to the weather being fairly good today. i put on the jump leads and connected her up. Even though the zed has sat still, untouched and unloved for nearly 6 weeks. I thought there might be a few issues. But with less than a full turn, it started instantly, little bit of condensation smoke from the exhausts, but gone after a couple of minutes. purred away quite happily. Everything working and sounds great. Sat and watched all the dials for a time, all in order.everything working as it should. Managed to give a decent wash and polish. still looks great. but just wantin…

Hi, Can anyone suggest the best place to get a new (or a good used, or refurb even) front off side brake caliper. I'm after a turbo cast iron one. Went to put new discs on today, turns out I have one NA 26mm aluminium caliper and one newer turbo 30mm cast iron caliper! I'm not looking to get one and refurbish seals etc, as I need to get my Zed back on the road asap. Just want to replace it. The local auto places couldn't help me until Monday as their suppliers aren't open at the weekend. The guy estimated £125 ish for a new one. Any suggestions would be much appreciated, as my Zed is sitting on jacks all alone in the dark without me.

Turns out it wasn't the cylinder needing bleeding. the clutch release arm isn't sat right. its crucked over on a slight angle instead of being perpendicular to the slave (regret so much not getting a photo while it was up on the lift). so the cylinder is having to come out further than what it should to release the clutch, and when the pedal is right down it still isn't fully releasing. When i first got the car the clutch was really badly worn, when we put the new one in we found the release bearing wasn't fitted right and the arm was really far back. so i'm not sure if the arm is worn or bent in some way, or if its the ball that it sits on. Either way i know it…

Well.. Went to do my bdc drift licence at llandow today and the engine started knocking during practice :( so I failed like a prat.... Basically i was running relitively low boost 11psi with a puck clutch, shimmed diff and couple that with The r888 Tyres I gave the engine too much with no 'give' so the inevitable happened... Now iv got 22 days to get the thing up and running for bdc teeside. So, couple of options, 1 - get another vg30dett and throw that in 2 - get an sr20det convert and tune it to death 3 - rb26dett 4 - rb25dett tbh iv lost all faith in the ca, vg, rb25 gen engines, they seem to have toffie bottom ends I'd like to SR th…

How the devils do you remove/fit it?? I've found it, near enough broken my back getting down there but can't seem to figure out how to remove it completely! The screw in the top corner which seems to be holding it to the metal mounting bracket is impossible to get to as there's just not enough clearance. I've removed the two screws visible below the ecu box which appeared to be holding the metal mounting bracket to the body but the thing still won't budge. Any ideas?? I've had to remove the plastic piping which direct air to the feet to get at all of this so far....it's all in bits so would like to finish the job today if possible! lol
