Coolant and antifreeze is a topic we are asked about on a regular basis, and often causes confusion; types, colours, service life etc. Perhaps the most frequent cause of confusion is what the difference between anti-freeze or coolant is. Basically, they’re the same product (although the term “coolant” could just be applied to plain water; see below!) To help clear some of the confusion up on the more technical details of antifreeze and coolants we enlisted the help of Martyn Mann – Technical Director, Millers Oils UK - who has provided the information below. Not all antifreeze / coolant is the same! Coolant can be plain water; water is a very effective…

Sorry for asking a question that has probably been asked countless times before, but if I wanted to convert my N/A in to a TT, how much am I looking at all in (parts and labour)? Don't need the details, just an approximate figure + number of days required for the work. Thanks.

Well just got back from the MOT, and well the car failed but not on what i thought it would. Front sidelights the wrong color, apparently White LED's are not white there blue? Rear number plate bulb not working (plagued by that damn thing even though it does work, its a dodgy wire so wasn't working when i took it) And the big one Rear wheel bearing too much play. So looks like I'm going to be rescuing the rear hub off my breaker for that one.

My mate has one of these, but has come from a punto GT, i.e. a single turbo set-up, can you buy the solenoids/loom etc. to get it to a dual set-up, or is it a different unit alltogether? Cheers, Tudor...

I had a problem during the coldest nights of the winter, car was garaged, but would run it every few days to warm her up etc. But one day I went to it, started her, and the fan belt squeeled it's nuts off then snapped, from the friction burning through it... Anyways, at the time, I presumed the water pump had frozen, fitted a new belt, and now squeels everytime I start her for about 30 seconds, then the viscous fan eventually kicks in. I thought maybe a bit of talc on the belt as I might have had grubby/oily hands when I fitted the belt, or could it have been the viscous fan all along? Do they fail like that? Cheers guys (and gals ;-)

Currently have the BC racing on mine, not sure if anyone else has/had these, i find them a bit too hard for uk roads, they tend to skip across the road surface too much over bumps, even on the softer settings. now what do you have and how are they on the roads, or what brand/company can you point me towards as id like a smooth ride.

Just a few pics from today with the sun out, my bonnet is back on with the underside all freshly painted in black with chrome fleck to match the engine bay theme, it looks as if it has bits all over it but its the fleck reflecting in the sun, looks nice in the flesh (honest), I`m still waiting for my chrome rad cover to turn up and some fancy bolts and washers and then shes done!! had a massive drive today, done about 100 miles with the lid off , my head was a bit cold but i couldnt wait any longer, hope you like :cool3:

A quick how to fit new chrome door handles. Tools. Phillips screwdriver with magnetic head. small electrician flat blade screwdriver. This is for both sides, each have same screws / clips in locations, apart from drivers window switches. 1. wind fully open windows, to expose, remove black cover on outside with flat blade to find screw behind, and remove 2. remove interior panel to locate two screws, also held in with clip. 3. Onto the door card. it is secured, by a number of screws and clips along the bottom. 2 x screws on hinge end, 1 x screw beside the lock (opposite end of panel) clips along bottom and one clip just below interior panel…

I have just bought my girlfriend her first car. S reg nissan micra. You would be suprised how many bits of a micra we can salvage for our zeds, one in particular i have seen many threads on people needing are. 1. Number plate bulb holders and covers are identical, but different part numbers, Nissan charge a few quid for zed ones, and are getting rarer to find. 2. The interior light door switch rubber covers, situated near the door locks, are identical. 3. The door lock catches, again identical. 3. In the engine bay of a micra, there are a few electrical connections, both the male and female side are same as zed connections., If you are f…
