I have a squeal, but it doesn't seem to be a belt. In the car it sounds like its behind the dashboard, when I first bought the car I thought it was the heater fan, but it isn't. Under the bonnet, it seems to be coming from top left corner of the engine (as looking at the engine), I had considered the alternator belt, but it really does sound as if its coming from the back of the engine bay, master clutch cylinder area, or below... Its more noticeable at idle and slow driving, but my exhaust is so loud when driving normally I can't hear if its happening then, don't think it is though. The squeal doesn't get louder, always the same. Weird....

Hi everyone I know it's probably an often-covered topic but I've just re-newed my insurance with Lynbrook on a classic policy for a premium of only £216 !!! That's fully comp. with a £250 excess. I appreciate I'm getting on in life and so perhaps less of a risk, but I think that's fantastic value - especially with the inexorable rise in everything - especially insurance - it seems these days. Very pleased !!! And the people you have to deal with there are very courteous, pleasant and professional too so I would recommend them very highly. Mark Ps just need to tax it and back on the road !!

hi guys, im new ere, and really am in need of help... last night i went to swap my current car for an H reg fairlady Z, the guy told me it was running in good order etc, but... may need a better battery, i went to take the car home, and didnt even get out of his street, as soon as i put the headlights on, it died and wouldnt start, when jump started, it started straight away, then when i applied the breaks... the car died again, all the while the "power" light was fluttering. im assuming the battery is knackered, and possibly alternator too. but if anybody can shed some light and tell me there could be a bigger problem i would b greatly thankful. thanks guys, shaun…

Continuing on the colour theme, what combinations look best with a white exterior. I know black is the traditional combination, but I want to re-do mine is a light colour, ideally cream. However, I don't believe this goes at all well with a white exterior. The other option is a white interior, though keeping the seats black to avoid most of the dirt. Any ideas and does anyone have photos of white interiors? I think Funki Si's was white and looked stunning.

Well i finally got round to fitting my SS exhaust to replace the one below in my sig pic. Since buying the car last June the passenger side centre section baffles had collapsed but on removal both had gone, i thought the car was bloody fast before but now it could have almost gained 100bhp the way it drives, on completely dry roads in 2nd gear the car tears and twists when the loud pedal is punched, spinning the tyres loads! i couldnt stop driving it tonight and ended up driving 30 miles! 3rd gear is now like 2nd was. After owning 2 TT 300's before this one, by far this is my quickest. And... if any of you have read my previous posts regarding high idle at 1000 …

I have been working on the bodywork of my 300tt for some time now, and each week I run the engine up until warm. I have sorted the tick over problems and set the timing etc' but I am experiencing a regular tapping noise.:hammer: It does not seem tinny enough to be a tappet (not that I would know anyway:sad:)and not clunky enough to be top or bottom ends. My question is, should I consider using an engine flush, and if so, what would you recommend? also, how do I use it to get the best results? Thanks in advance.

firstly around mid-day a good looking yellow one with a white aftermarket front end, going into Worthing, had a smooth rear. Going opposite directions at Tarring road so quick toot and a wave:thumbup:. Then, on my way out of Worthing around 3 pm, a seriously nice looking white 'shorty' - looked like a slick-top. Obviously just been cleaned, sounded as good as it looked:bow:. Again quick wave and gone!! Can't rememeber the last time I saw a zed when I was driving mine and, like buses, two in one day, cool.

Hi Guys, Got a strange noise in the cabin. it starts when you click the key to ign, once started, it still remains, and when you switch it off the noise eases off slowly. The noise is similar to the noise you would hear with fluid going through a pump but the pump bearing has broken up. Any ideas? Rich

Noticed today with the front wheels jacked up, once spun they rub against the brakes, and barely make one full rotation before stopping, now is this normal or are they binding/rubbing too much. and if so, how do i prevent this?

Ok, problem has changed over the past 3 months.... started with running a bit rough on start up, then driving down the motor-way, all of a sudden car would run really rough in 5th under load, then in any gear, had to pull off motorway, turn off car and restart OK. (but it wouldn't happen all the time) So I got another set of coil packs, fixed the rough at start but still had the same problem on motorway. bought a new PTU, fitted that.... no difference... Cleaned the contacts for the CAS and that seemed to make it a bit better...... replaced the air filter and cleaned the contacts, cleaned the contacts for the TPS and any other I could get my hands…
