  1. Well, that time of the year seems to be hear again and I have got my tinkering mojo back so I thought i'd put up some updates on a few new projects. the first one is to replace the rubbish temp gauge without having lots of extra pod stuck all over the place. So - rip the old one out!!! This very easy and there are only a few screws holding it it. Most aftermarket 60mm gauges will fit in the hole quite neatly. I have managed to source a gauge that gives me water temp, exhaust temp and boost all in one. Not cheap at £180 but it is 3 gauges in one. I have managed to match it to my the standard dash colours and even the orientation of the needle at re…

Hi. A welder has just out in my rear screen. I now need to sort a replacement. (just for fun-Autoglass = £2100 for bronze or £1200 for blue) Does anyone have any perpex options? (I would prefer this) or by luck is there someone with a spare rear screen (or hatch I suppose) going? fingers crossed.

Time for a facelift! Rather than ring round the dealers and coppin' attitude, it made sense to ask my fellow members. Are there aftermarket seats that'll bolt right in keeping the, (electrical), adjustments for the driver?

I need help with my stereo. Whenever i turn it on and off i get a loud bang/pop through the speakers, no other noises just when turning it on and off. I want to put my amp and subs back in but its even louder through the amp/subs! i know it isnt the car because it did it in my saxo and my last Zed, so it must be the stereo. I hope its something i can solve, its a nice 7" flip out dvd touch screen magic box of tricks, granted its in a 22 year old escort, but its still nice :p Any idea's?

Further from my other thread it would seem my drivers side turbo seal is on its way out. So heres a few questions..... 1. Do I need to replace both tubs or just the goosed one? 2. Where is the best place to get re-con tubs? 3. How much am I looking at? Would like to use the tubs off my old UK Zed but I have no way of knowing if they are ok. Cheers guys.

Ok guyz...... Does anyone here have one fitted or any knowledge of these little puppies. Are they a good piece of kit, or simply bu****it!! and not needed. Something i found regarding the above...... (Not wiki....lol) "It is a simple car voltage stabilizer that is connected directly to a car battery. The function is to stabilize or filter an AC voltage from the alternator to get a clean DC voltage. A clean DC voltage is required for electronics equipment to operate in an optimum condition. The alternator voltage output is regulated and still has AC noise which will cause a humming noise to a power amplifier. This circuit will filter both low frequency noise …

I think it was my det sensor wiring that i found broken at the plug, its the one with two wires going itnto it, the o2 sensor has 3 i believe at the rear of the plennum, its a grey plug, would this have been the cause of a very slight rough idle when you give the slightest rev maybe 1500 rpm? have repaired it now but have removed my injectors and having some more that will have been sent away for flow testing to replace them so cant try them till then

  22. Something i have found through trial and error whilst cleaning my injector and coil pack connectors, i have wrapped all my wires with electrical insulating tape, you know the black stuff everyone uses  well around the top of the plennum it gets very hot this has made the tape quite hard and the problem arrises at the connector ends where the wires tend to twist easy becouse the trailing wires have been wrapped with tape and are now hard, i found my det sensor connector wires snapped at both ends as the insul tape had hardned and was letting the wires twist easy  now i have stripped the tape off and used self amalgamating tape that…

Hi guys, Got the new car on Wednesday eve knowing that I had to replace the PCV's to stop the exhaust smoke on the drivers side, passenger is ok. These were supplied with the car and I fitted these this afternoon. I also have topped up the oil as it was a bit low and have added a bottle of hydraulic lifter treatment as I had a ticking at the top of the engine. Anyway......... After all that I still get a lot of oil smoke when its been idling for about 3-5 minutes. It idles at about 900rpm and there is a distinct 'chugging' sound. It also doesn't seem as powerful as before. History on the car from the ad was engine rebuilt a few years ago and recently h…
