For anyone that has good rear shock but the gaitors knacked here is a cheap fix. The OE ones come complete with the bump stops which are usually ok and cost around £35 + VAT each  So as I needed both sizes I managed to buy these gaitors from a motorfactors, they are universal power steering rack gaitors and are much thicker and stronger than the old ones. So armed with spring compressors etc the swap was easy after trimming them to the correct end sizes to slide over the bump stop and locating lip on the shock. Quite pleased with myself and for £7.00 + VAt per pair a big saving!!! Broken Universal part Fixed

I'm not 100% sure if I have pre-cats or not, I have an 89' Jap LWB TT. When looking at the front of the exhaust just before the cats there are pipes leading up into the eninge bay.. are these pre-cats? Reason being I want to Decat the car so what are my options? Also what exhaust systems are there out there?

I'm getting ready to do my manual conversion on my UK auto. I'm pretty much sorted in my head how the clutch and gearbox go on mechanically but I'm a little confused about a couple of things. 1. Do the gearbox electrical connections simple plug into the existing autobox wiring? i.e. Reverse switch, neutral switch and speed sensor doodah. It also has a wire coming off an oil line, which I'm assuming is a temp sensor. 2. The manual box has two oil cooler hard lines on it. Are these just attached to the exisiting ATF cooler lines (after a complete flush) or can they just be joined together and ignored? 3. After changing over the shifter to a short shifter I'…

Right - i bought some cheap hardpipes which came with some bloody decent clips to hold the silicone pipes in place, unfortunately the fasteners on the clips are quite chunky so need to be on top of the hoses meaning that although they do the job really well, i think they look untidy as you can see the fastening mechanism. My question is this: Does anyone know where to get some decent clips to hold the silicone in place? I am using heavy duty jubilee clips at th emoment which don't look too bad, but i want to get some that are really neat and tidy... Any ideas? Thanks peeps

I'm not asking for advice on exhausts, can't afford to do anything about it right now and the whole system is in perfect condition, although a bit of a universal DIY jigsaw. It's more of a general rant. lol The general loudness is becoming annoying, I mean its REALLY loud! It's almost like there is no exhaust attached. Its de-catted, though there are some DIY pre-silencers to the rear, but I think these are straight though pipes. At the rear I have two (what I think are universal) back boxes with huge outlets. They look nice, real nice, though massive you can get your fist in there. Flooring it on a motorway sounds beastly, and I like the burble I so…

General consenus feeling really. Is it ok to ram 18 billion watts worth of eletrical hardware into your zed? or does the car lend itself to a more subtle approach that doesnt require so much stuff. IS it rice to ice in your opinion :D my opinion is the zed is focused enough to not need a stero at all. my previous car didnt the pur of the engine and lack of stero made it thjat more special to drive.

opinions and technical bumf appricated. basically i threw some red ex something or other feul injector cleaner throuigh my car that supposed to clean them up and give you better mpg and raise octane numbers. both me and my my father tryed it he has an rx8. after about 200 miles he hit a flat spot followed by alot of crap that came out the rear and since then the car has never driven better, more resposive tec so he says. and i too tbh did have something simular i took it out for a blast crap came out and it ran/runs much better, feels miore responsive etc and seems to produce better acceration higher up the rev range. it also seems to have cured the pulsing i had at full …
