General Discussions - 300ZX Related

No I dont need the mr's seen to haha but I am looking to change my front wheel studs for slightly longer ones as i'm using a 5mm spacer. Can this be done on the car or does the bearing need to come apart? Also anyone recommend a company to get them from? Thanks

Under full throttle my Z has started to judder, slight pauses in acceleration. I gave it a few full throttle runs tonight, and after some gunshot noises, its started to have less judder / pauses in the acceleration, still not perfect though, a flat out 30-100 run now gets 1-2 judders compared to the 5-6 it was having before I did a few extra runs. Its the only time I have really gone full throttle in it to be honest. Thinking there maybe carbon build up or something like that. Hoping its not a missfire. engine runs smooth at all speeds, its just affected under full acceleration. Any advice at all?

A few weeks ago i brought a job lot of Zed parts from a guy. Most of the parts i need but there was a aftermarket rear bumper included which i thought might fit my wide arch zed but sadly dose not. Its quite unusually as its got what looks like a rear diffuser which goes right up under the fuel tank and and a small spoiler section which looks quite smart! I'll gett some pictures up asap but a mate of mine seems to think its a SE nissan rear bumper anyone got any ideas?

Is there anyway of testing a coil pack whilst it's on the bench?

is the only difference in the exhaust system the rear section??

So finished everything off, then double checked it. Went to start the car and click noise and now no power, probably blow something, like a fuse, because I connected something up wrong. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated thanks. :crying:

Since the divorced downpipes the tub has no where to bolt in the top nut on the heatshield so it rattles occasiknally. Can I remove it or will it cook the ecu?

Was thinking of removing front disc sheilds when i fit my big brake kit what sort of a job is involved in removing them.Just thought it would look neater than cutting them down thanks taff :yes:

I dont use my zed very often now but if i leave it say a week or longer it doesnt start staight away takes like 5 to 10 seconds and smokes a bit misses a bit then fine after that doesnt smoke on idle and starts fine durring the day and next morning .just when left for long periods it does this does anyone know what it is or is this ok thanks taff.:yes:

Hi all, I'm waiting to hear back from Jeff on this problem, but I would appreciate any advice you could give me from your own personal experiences, etc. I have an engine misfire caused by a cylinder not firing. I've isolated which cylinder has the issue by having the engine tick over and unplugging one coil pack at a time. When this coil pack is unplugged there is no difference in engine speed. We also noticed that jiggling the harness holding all of the cables at various points altered the engine speed. This suggests to me there is cable damage and connection problems. Not sure it's advisable driving from Portsmouth to Zedworld like this! …

i've recently had a little problem when starting the zed. it fires up without a problem but after about 10 15 seconds the idle drops to about 300 until i give it a few revs. I've also found that when this happens, if i turn the engine off and then on again it runs fine. anyone got any idea on what could be causing this? by the way its a n/a if that makes any difference.

after any opinion form anyone with them really, changing my autobox and im putting another order in with z1 though i might get them, six-shooter engine mounts and solid transmission mount i like the idea of the engine being part of the chassis and less movement, but surely Nissan would not have used rubber if they weren't important??? road noise vibrations etc don't bother me, my zed stupidly anti-social anyway. :shifty:

So nearly done, but there are a few things I forgot / didn't take a photo of as I was undoing it. So first thing is this silver cable . . . does anyone know where it goes or what it does? It wasn't connected to anything when I removed the engine and I forgot to investigate while engine was out. Second thing is these boost pipes, where do they go? I know one goes to a nozzel on the side of the plenum but the other . . . I have no idea. Thanks in advance.

week and a half from beaulieu and its all gone pete tong ,,went to go for a drive this evening and sounds like ive got a bank down ,,pulled of coil plugs when running and it points to the left middle ,swopped over coil pack not that changed plug not that seems fuel as the plug was bone dry im thinking injector,, any one think the same of can i try somthing else better still anyone close to andover who knows zeds inside out? dont think im gona get it fixed by the 5th :0(:angry:

Can anyone point me in the right direction please? I would like to check out the sensor from the connection end, measuring resistance etc' during warm up. can any one tell/show me which connector it is? The sensor I am looking to check is the one next to the EGR valve.

Well i dont drive my 300zx daily but i noticed when i moved it some oil on the floor, smells like oil anyway. Today there was a lack of power above 4500-5000 rpm, when i parked at home i noticed that turning the engine off there was a loud wining noise like a failing pump coming from the rear off the car. Not sure what that was, investigation showed the oil leak was coming from the join in the offside exhaust and the mid silencer all the offside pipe from that part on to the rear of the car was dirty. Im going to assume this is not a good thing

Hi all, Ive been away fron the Zed and the forums for a while only popping on here now and again. Ive not been down the unit to work on my car in about 2 months i just cant find the enthsiasm to work on her....Now the lovely weather is here im kinda kicking myself in the teeth as i was hoping to be at least running it in by now. Ive not been lazy though ive found yet another expensive hobby playing woodsball or scenario paintballing. Its a great laugh even if being shot in certain places does hurt haha.
