Poor idle and stumbling can be caused by many set up issues but also by leaking/ poor sealing after market dump valves. However there is another issue we are seeing more and more commonly in the workshop and with the advent of inexpensive dump valves on ebay and similar looks set to continue. Today in the workshop was a classic example of this very issue, a zed came in that has been off the road for around 2 years, the engine was struggling to run and had a huge flat spot when statically revved, with an MOT booked for the afternoon I had to act fast. Whilst it would tick over sort of when warm the ConZult diagnostic was not revealling too much, which is ok,…

How bizare after posting a thread the other day about a damaged tyre inner wall, today I was changing some tension rod arm for adjustable ones, always an ideal time to check tyres I checked out the front inner walls of the front tyres and was surprised again to find the example below, again whilst in place the side view looked fine but gave little indication as to the poor condition on the inner wall, this looks to have been a pot hole or kerb strike. Make checking your tyre a regular job, even if you do smaller mileage and your zed is standing still for long periods. Jeff TT [ATTACH=CON…

Hi guys at work today was clearing up all the crap from the work shop. Came across an intercooler for a bloody smart car, Looks very similar to oem zed intercooler or at least could be made to fit. Thing I found cool is it has an electric cooling fan built on them. Maybe just take fan off and bolt it to the zed intercooler and wire them to come on with the engine. I dont know much about tuning exept the cooler the better, so any experts if 2 of them were free would it be worth doing..

What is the general consensus with TT conversions from an N/A once the logbook has been updated etc, then you change the insurance to a TT. Would it generally be more expensive than a factory TT and be classed as a 'kit car' or anything silly like that or will it just a straight forward TT insurance? CheerZ Joel.

To anyone who has done a fuse box removal knows well the rather un-natural neck breaking , back cricking, arm and hand wrenching position you have to work in, but when the result clears two issue`s in one go it has to be worth it. Todays workshop folley was presenting a rather strange habit of loosing all of the volty sparks from the battery after two or three days, the owners had tried a couple of new batteries and alternator checks passing with flying colours, the thing that made this even trickier to find was that occasionally such as when owner went on holiday for 2 weeks upon his return the engine fired up with no problem? Leak testing for stray battery …

Hi guys, Not long had the car, drove home perfectly , but noticed a judder and miss fire during aceleration after driving it around town for a while once home.. noticed the battery wasnt tightened down with its brackets and has ripped off about 4 pipes, one sucks, and one blows, as you can see by the pics the unit attached to the passenger wing has a tube coming off the bottom with a plastic T attached, any help where these tubes all go? and in what order?? pics below. thanks!

I have been trying to find the list of renewable bits that you need to go with the manual conversion. I know MJP is the best to get them from but need to know what to ask for.

I had my heater core split a while ago, which was replaced and everything was good. However for the past few months there has been a strange sucking noise coming from under the dash when the heater is on. The only thing I can liken it to is when your drinking from a glass with a straw, and when there isn't much liquid left it makes a similar noise. It basically sounds like water (or another liquid) being sucked through something. It only happens when the heater is on, (which at the moment in this weather is all the time). I've also noticed that it only happens when I have been driving for a bit then come to a stop, or when I pull away from standing. I'm not…

I need some help identifying which plugs go to what as some of them were unplugged when I got the car. This is the bundle that comes through the inner wing by the brake master cylinder/small fuse box. Im guessing one of the them is for the boost solenoid that was there. I think B is something to do with the starter or gearbox, I have a vague memory of it going down from there when I took it out Cheers

What is it with big boxes? must be a guy thing, however big boxes often mean big cost and this one was no exception, we fitted a replacement exhaust for on a 350z and the owner wanted genuine Nissan and well here is nearly £500 worth of rear back box and intermediate pipe...yikes! Jeff TT
