General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Anyone around Merseyside that could possible have a look at this for me to see if its actually worth buying. I know its got a missfire, but was hoping someone who knows what they are doing can take a look to see if its a ****ed cylinder or something easily repairable. I'm not to bothered about the body work as I would probably pull the engine out for my zed anyway. EBay item number 261172625536.

Hey Guys, Bought a zx off a fellow member but its started to develop a certain issue. While driving it is fine but sometimes almost can smell like something is burning, however once i stop smoke starts to rise from under the bonnet or under the car(no a massive amount but noticeable, smells like oil) . Had a look underneath and the engine and front bits look very greasy, could it be a oil leak? Hicas light has come up during driving too but its just had the hicas pipes replaced and previous leak fixed at zed world two months back and it had a full check up! . :confused1: So what could be the probable cause? Not just yet but am starting to look at wheels again. Tempted by Rota GTR-D's. A few questions; what width can you get away with at the front and back without the risk of the tyres/wheels catching. What offset? I am wanting a big dish at the back, I assume the lower the offset the bigger the dish? Thanks, Dan

Hi Guys, For the last several thousand miles my car smokes blue out of the nearside exhaust. Only when sat idling after 3-5 mins. I have replaced the PCV and still have the smoke. My next step is to change the turbo on that side. What turbo is the replacement? Will I be able to use both the original flanges? What am I searching for? Garrett TB? T25? T2? Thanks, Dan

Can someone help ive put the driver side seat subframe in so many times ive stripped the tread. Because there captive nuts in the floor im not sure what to do the bolts are stripped as well anyone else done this thanks taff .

Hi, do i need a new pump? symptoms are as follows, while idle steering makes a whirring sound,, checked oil oil ok, but noticed a kink in one of the outlets of the resevoir, so i replaced and its still the same. any suggestions? tightening maybe?

Hi, newbee here, Not sure if this is meant to happen, but when i start my car the HICAS light is always on, is this normal? or is something up? also driving round a bend the other day ( hit pot hole ) made the Anti lock light come on? thats constantly on to now. and everytime i press the brake the "light" symbol flashes, i have checked bulbs and all are working..... One more thing ive noticed while driving at night, dipped beam is really poor, are the stock bulbs crap? worth buying uprated ones? Thanks in advance, leeroy

I'm in the middle of having a plenum Modified and removing aload of stuff of it .. Taken off the bolt mounts pcv valves water pipes Blocking off Balance bar ( removed ) Now the IDle control valve the balance bar Feeds it from the small pipe throu the plenum and then back out in to outlet turbo pipe do u guys think it will be ok to make a Internal hole with in the plenum on one side to feed the idle control unit all so is there any other info on this at all ?

Guys im still on this engine bay. It looked really good, Relocated the steering pot and fuse box. Problem I now have is.. In the wheel arch, where abs wire bolts to inner wheel arch theres a bracket the bracket was sticking out, so I bent it back in. Easy I thought, until I looked back in at the bit of filler I used to smooth engine bay out. Filler cracked opposite side of bracket, all fixed now but its got me worried. I know moving the bracket has made the metal flex and crack filler but will it crack say hitting a bump or anything. Never really used filled, keyed up bare metal where filler is with 80grit paper. Its on maybe 4-5…

Anyone thinking of selling there zed , looking for a TT upto a max of £1700 must be roadworthy :) maybe im onn to tight of a budget but i know these zeds are out there , but there f** all for sale at the minute !!!! meant to be looking at one tomorrow day so hopefuly it will be a good one but apart from that theres not much for sale:(

Going to upgrade the ICE in the zed, am thing of going down the route of installing an iPad in the dash. Have read up its been done before (pbryant), so if anyone got any info on converting the dash or if u know of anyone who could provide this service then pls give me a shout :)

I have a leaking subframe bush on the Z, will it still pass an mot if I fit a aluminum subframe bush kit ,the type that fit either side of the bush, it also states that it will eliminate wheel hop. cheers Paul

On a trip over to help Voddy yesterday with his wire loom change my Zeds heating was all over the place. It was going hot then cold, steaming up the windscreen and I was getting smoke/vapour out of the vents! There wasn't a strong smell the the vapour and it was coming and going with the temp changes. I still haven't had time to get my fusebox out and check that for corrosion so is there anything there that might not be working that is screwing with my heaters or could it be the matrix itself?

Hello all Im after a complete exhaust system apart from the Manifold. Iv been to 2 performance exhaust centres and they are unable to complete the work. Has anyone had exhaust work done at zedworld for me to make the journey or recommend anywhere in and around London who carry it out. Lou

Okay I am fairly new to 300zx ownership, son has a couple of them he is a lot more knowledgeable but not sure about this problem. My car speedo is reading at least 25% slow, ie at 30 I am reading 23, at 40 29, at 50 just about 40, at 70 I am reading 55 and at 70 mph on my car I am doing about 85mph... I have just changed the gearbox, and I think I have 18 or 19 inch very low profile wheels, should have checked before i wrote this message..anyway, anyone any idea if its the wheels or gearbox, or maybe some other issue. My car is also really noisy above 70 mph, wind noise, panel fit is poor and the rear spoiler a developing mess...is this normal...

Cannot find my bit of paper that I had that had a easy set-up guide to enable me to adjust the boost settings for my profec b. Any body have instructions to do so....cant find much in the search bar! Dave
