I don't know what prices you all pay for insurance but my Jap import only cost me £950 through A-Plan's Specialist Vehicle Division at Thatcham. Policy is with Axa. Tel: 0845 0711234 Everyone else quoted me around £2500 and most wouldn't touch the import anyway! Maybe you guys know of someone cheaper but it seems like a massive diference to me.

Can I legally remove Cats on my '90 Jap ZX? I have heard that pre '91 cars don't require the Cats to pass the MOT. Is this the correct date? I have what I think is the standard Jap exhaust with single 3.5" (ish) tail pipes each side. Will I see any benefit from removing them? I have a Blitz/K&N type air filter fitted & intend to get an ECU upgrade eventually.

My Jap '90 TT Auto sometimes flashes the Power light when I turn the ignition. Is this a diagnostic code? It lights steady for approximately 2 seconds then flashes 16 times. Help much appreciated...

Heres some pics of my left front suspension damage, the tension rod has snapped and the link transverse is buckled! the small pics link to 800x600 versions (if the HTML works) apart from the first one which links to the story of what happened. The wing damage I sort after she's back on the road. oh and I have a new side exit exhaust!!

My Z will need the dreaded cambelt change soon, and I was wondering where I can get it done in the Midlands area?(I couldn't tackle it myself) What parts are required, and how much do you think it is likely to cost me..including labour. I didn't want to risk the local Nissan dealership due to cost and the likelyhood of problems arising from the fact it's an import non-turbo.(Last time I tried to get a part..they said that Nissan never built a non-turbo Z32!!) Thanks, JEZ300Z

Here is one for the gurus. I have fitted 18" BBS wheels (RS11). They look great shod with SO2 tyres. With lower profile tyres than was on the stock wheels (still for sale)I reckon that the wheel/tyre diameter is 25" (versus 24") So by my old pythagarus (spelling??) the rolling circumference is 4% greater. Thus am I correct that my speedo will under read by 4%???? ( Got to watch the Feds and their blooming Gatsco's)

Have anybody seen Johnny boy without his Jaguar hat ? Is it true that he actually sleeps in it ?

After almost 10 years my stock rear spoiler is looking really sad. It is beginning to distort along the tailgate lip and needs replacing. Do any of you guys have any replacement suggestions. I have looked at Bomex (spelling!) to be honest they do not do anything for the classic lines of the 300zxTT.Stillen Type 111 look good but do not fit the 2+2. I do not want my car to look "Boy Racer". At over £500 plus fitting the stock replacement is very expensive. So, are there any spoilers that you can recommend? Cheers Bill M

Whilst I went to the match I parked up in one of the back streets in Newcastle. On return the passenger side window was smashed and the glovebox emptied onto the floor. However I had went in the girlfreinds VW Golf that day. PHEW!...THAT WAS A CLOSE SHAVE... Paul

Driving round a roundabout a couple of hours ago, roundabout was icy which caused my Zed to slid into the kerb! unfortunatly I was trying to steer which means my Left front wheel hit the kerb "face on"! I got out to find my wheel back and under the wheel arch by about six inches! After speaking to Craig it looks like I may need to replace the lower suspension on that side. And after Zed was loaded on the Recovery truck I saw the anti roll bar had snapped and that the wheel had hit the wing causing the wing to be slightly out of shape. One good thing though, my fibreglass front got away with scrapes and cracks. I'll take some pics after I get the wheel off this weekend…

Hi, I've got a 1990 Fairlady Z NA Short Wheel Base manual. Last year one of the standard back boxes went and I was quoted 13 hundred quid by Nissan for a new one. After loads of phoning round (no one seemed to be able to get hold of a system for the 2 seater) I eventually found someone that could make up a complete system for my Z for around 600 pounds, they are called Powerflow. The power gain was good 'cos the whole system was 'straight through', the trouble was that it was unbelievably loud (4 x 3" DTM pipes that acted like trumpets as well). I decided to get some new boxes in an attempt to make it slightly quieter so I got a couple of Simons baffled racing boxes …

I know someone with a 90 300 Na. Its been off the road for a couple of years because it has a fault and he doesn't know what to do about it. Basicly sometimes it will start and sometimes it just turns over without even trying to fire, it could also cut out for no reason. Im sure I once read about the power transistor being the usual cause but I cant remember any details. Any Ideas? Paul..

Hi chaps, last week, decided to take the plunge and added Nitrox Hotshot to fuel tank to clean the injectors / fuel system. The next day I added engine flush to the old oil, then drained it out. Then added new Mobil 1 (0W-40)& Nissan oil filter and then added Extralube ZX1 oil lubricant to the oil. Finally, replaced the standard paper air filters with Green cotton ones and all seems OK after about 150 miles ! Am I sad but isn't a great feeling when you've replaced the oil in the engine ? Regards William

What is the process of getting the front speaker cones out of the door panel? Does the grill pop off? I'd rather ask you lot first than undertake the normal routine of 'Break it' then ask questions later!!! Simon P 90TT
