http://autoshow2001.carpoint.msn.com/autoshow2001/OEM_Nissan_Nissan.xml I assume that the figures quoted are for a NA 3.5l engine. A turbo version should be ever so slighlty quicker ;) - lets hope they follow this through to its full potential. /\/\ark

I am looking at possibly a "cheap" upgrade to improve the feel of my brakes, and fitting Steel Braided Brakelines appears to be a good idea? I have taken a look at a few suppliers prices, and the UK sites have ranged from £51 to £120 (so far). Can anybody recommend a make & type (I see you can also have Teflon Coating, etc...) & supplier? The manufactures and differences in their products is unknown to me, and hope somebody can help me through this 'minefield'? I am looking initially at UK suppliers, as I have my car booked in for some work later this month. My experience of getting parts from the US, etc... has involved delays. Thanks in anticip…

Hi, I've been speaking with bob about secure film to protect your valuables and I have virtually decided to go ahead with it. It basically holds the glass in place when someone tries to smash your window and get in, I saw a demo a few years back and does look quite good. No tacky cheap job, bubbles etc. Have any of you lot had experiance with this stuff (not the fitting, that would be done by securefilm people), good or bad. Also, I don't want to completely black out the windows, but I might aswell go for a tint, but to what % I don't know, as the windows are already tinted. (Anyonw know the legal limit too?) This is for the side and rear window…

That is the official new Z concept as released by Nissan on www.nissandriven.com Ok so basically Audi beat them to production with the TT. Even so I recon that it looks nice enuff for a modern day Sports car...Remember the Super Car shape is basically dead in the new performance car market so we were never going to get anything as nice as the Z32. The performance is dissapointing. The basic powerplant is a V6 3.5 Litre NA VQ engine with a expected 260 BHP (puke). For those that dont know the VQ engine, it is already a production engine for the Maxima and i think also Pathfinder in America. The bad news is, Aluminum block ... so any ideas of mo…

I have just found out that one of the young apprentices at work has tried to 'Turbocharge' his Almera 1.4 by fitting two computer cooling fans into the pipe leading out of his airbox. Watch this space Nico..Dont go buying them new blowers just yet. Paul maybee it wont make him any faster but he's sure to get a feature in maxy power..

The beast is due for another service and I'm half getting sick of my local NISSAN gargage prices..it's more the attitude of them presently you with 600 quid bills and thinking it's normal.. They are good though, and have always done what I've asked them to do, including big jobs with no probs.... However Silvia is 50 miles down the road, and I can't help wondering if they'd be better ? In particular one of my turbos smokes a bit.. nowt to worry about, but (as johnny will testify), it's only working because of the back pressure still coming from the cats (I have the mongoose system fitted). So, I'm half considering getting the turbos reconded, cats removed …

Sorry, this is a long post ... Firstly, apologies to those who've mailed me with questions re Le Mans and my lack of response. A combination of work going manic and the fact that I'm moving house next Friday have meant I'm not getting any time to get onto the forum. Questions have been mainly based on costs if there aren't two people in the car so I list below a selection of costs. For each case, I've listed two costs. The first is based on the cheaper campsites, the second on the most expensive. The most expensive includes electricity and dedicated showers and an allocated pitch. It is inside the circuit, closer to funfair etc but further away from the hospital…

Final question. The car also has had £1500 worth of reconditioned gearbox done by Silvia Engineering. I have read mixed stuff about them on this forum but would anyone have any concern about this?

The car I am looking to buy has 225's on the rear. I know most have 240's. Are 225's acceptable?

The car I am looking to buy has done 72K miles but the drivers seat looks a little tired. I am slightly concerned that it is a sign of clocking. So firstly, how badly do the seats wear? and secondly how easy is it for these cars to be clocked? Thanks to everyone on this forum for their help.

Hi, When I am stationary in traffic and I blip the accelerator, the revs seem to rie in jerky stages, before falling back down again unevenly. Could it be the sensor that's at fault?I did have a go at cleaning various connectors over the Xmas period...which has helped the smooth running generally, but this problem still occurs, particularly when the engine is hot. How much does a replacement sensor cost?

If you are interested i have a job lot of pagers for your cars. They don`t need a car alarm to work and there are only 4 wires to connect. They have a range of 500m, which isn`t the worlds best but is better than nothing. If you want one i can knock them out at £35.00 inc. postage. Give me a call on 07770 268705 and i`ll get them sorted. Bob

Just carried out compression test and found very little compression on all cylinders, Checked valve timing and found it to be about 7 degrees out on bottom pulley would that be enough to cause the problem. Im just refitting belt any advice on how, when setting tension stopping pulleys moving from timing marks, Thanks

A strange one ... While checking the fluid levels, I noticed the level in the rad expansion bottle non existent on the level stick. Started topping up and water starts leaking out under the car. Checked the rad filler cap and the level is brimming in there ?!! Car is running fine not overheating. Iwonder if some bodge merchant has bypassed the bottle cause it's split maybe. Mechanics never cease to amaze me, as I've only had the car 4 weeks and it had a 'service' prior to delivery. Any ideas ? before I take it in for a warranty claim ... Glenn.

Craig and i were talking about music the other night and couldn`t believe some of the crap we bought over the years. So, what is the worst tune you are prepared to own up to having in your collection. I`ll kick off by having the rave version of the theme tune to Rhubarb and Custard. Although i do have a copy of Bob The Builder!

My beloved Zed is pulling to the nearside curb when braking. This means problems with the offside front disk. On inspection the pad is full of meat but it's not gripping the lower portion of the disk which appears rusty. Is this a simple case of the pot's stuck. Is it possible to pump out the pot and clean it or do I need to get the caliper stripped? It looks like the disc is a bit buggered and they're only 12 months old so I'm not over the moon. Advice appreciated. Can anyone give me an idication of an upgrade to something like AP Racing disks. Yes I know I'll have to change the wheels too but would appreciate a ball park figure.
