just a question regarding 95 octane and 97 octane.......i put a mixture in my zed today 10 litres of each...took it for a blast and noticed at the top rev range the car seemed to be holding back? could this be due to the 95 octane fuel or a pissing sensor some where.....any comments?

My other half likes my car very much but is not as mad on zeds as I am and she does not read this forum. However she looked at it over my shoulder and found it very amusing and now thinks we are all a bunch of sad gits who talk about "who's got the biggest exhaust pipe" I told her this isn't true and that we sometimes talk about headlight bulbs and mats as well.. Im sure im not the only one here subjected to this sort of abuse. Paul..

Ive spent today outside stripping the top end down on my ZXTT,as a newcomer to this engine my advice so far to anyone else about to do the same job is allow plenty of time mark everything you take off carefully as there are a lot of pipes brkts sensors to remove just to rech the head.At the moment ive removed timing belt, inlet manifold & collector, camcovers, Tomorrow i hope is down to the heads Any tips from this stage to head removal would be much appreciated, Thanks Mike

When I come to a junction I slow down and if it is clear I pull away. when I put my foot on the throttle not having come to a complete standstill the revs drop and for a couple of seconds nothing happens then the engine revs pick up and it pulls away. It's a nightmare if you try to pull out with an oncoming car in the wet cos when it does pick up the back end flies out. I have cleaned the IAA valve, throttle bodies and replaced the TPS. I currently have the idle turned up to 1500rpm to stop the hesitation. Anyone got any ideas

I am looking at some minor mods in spring to push up power a bit on my 92 UK TT. I assume the first thing is to change exhaust. Then intake to hi flow etc. Is the intake upgrade a DIY job ? Do you need to change any sensors or settings ? (excuse my ignorance) or is it like a Bill Gates O/S Plug 'n' Pray! Assumming these two mods what sort of net bhp increase could I expect. And more importnantly whats the next logical step after exhaust/intake ? And I thought 276bhp would be enuf ..... Glenn

With the new Z in the papers a lot the proper Z car usually gets a mention as well. The Daily Star describes the 300 as "Stunning looks and blisteringly fast" But Auto express uses the words "Heavy and lumbering" But there again, Auto express is a magazine that does tests on screenwash and footpumps and thinks you should be jailed for doing 1 MPH over the speed limit, so enough said! Paul..

I've had some close calls over the past month with my ZX, loosing the back end in the wet and on ice. I'm looking at fitting traction contol....can anyone recommend any good suppliers? Also, I understand its benefits, but will I loose any performance by fitting this, and are there any other negs it may cause?

Big thanks to Craig once again for arranging a top event and good to meet up with everyone again. For those who didn't make it, you missed a great night. For those who did, I REALLY REALLY apologise for the sheer luck. Dave

http://autoshow2001.carpoint.msn.com/autoshow2001/OEM_Nissan_Nissan.xml I assume that the figures quoted are for a NA 3.5l engine. A turbo version should be ever so slighlty quicker ;) - lets hope they follow this through to its full potential. /\/\ark

I am looking at possibly a "cheap" upgrade to improve the feel of my brakes, and fitting Steel Braided Brakelines appears to be a good idea? I have taken a look at a few suppliers prices, and the UK sites have ranged from £51 to £120 (so far). Can anybody recommend a make & type (I see you can also have Teflon Coating, etc...) & supplier? The manufactures and differences in their products is unknown to me, and hope somebody can help me through this 'minefield'? I am looking initially at UK suppliers, as I have my car booked in for some work later this month. My experience of getting parts from the US, etc... has involved delays. Thanks in anticip…
