Hi, I'm looking to buy a used 300zx soon. Looking for some pointers. My current concern is that used car book says the the manual boxes tend to shred. Is this crap or are the manuals okay ? Nothing in the Z-buying guide to suggesting this ? Thanks in advance

Ok the dyno day shall be held on the 24th of November. 33 squid per person. that is for the day. you can do more than one run. It is in Hartfedshire (not sure if thats spelt correct) If you are interested, mail me with a definate yay or nay, once i have revieved your mail and money i shall give you the adress details. I have to do it this was because we need to pay for the day outright, and i cant afford for guys to say they will come and then as per usual not pitch up. The way we are going it can be other cars aswell.... but preferably 300zx's. If we can get 15 guys in on this then only 300zx's. If we cant get just 300z owners then others welcome t…

Hi all, I remember that a little while back someone posted on this forum that if the steering wheel is not on straight that it affects the HICAS. Sounds logical to me since the HICAS gets it's input from two rings on the steering column. My steering wheel is not on straight (not off by much but still ...) and I'd like to put it straight. Can anyone tell me what the procedure is for this (location of screws, nuts & bolts, clips and other things annoying)? Appreciate your help! Incedentally, was speaking to Luke at the ZCentre a few weeks ago about replacing the steering wheel and he told me that if you put any other wheel on then you lose the HICAS …

Had a test drive in an Audi TT 1.8 225bhp yesterday up for 27k on a 2000x plate 10 k miles cheeky git offered me 2.5k for my zed had no intent of buying just took up on a test drive offer. Having checked on jam jar .co.(link below) they value the Audi at 20k and my zed at 4.5k Seems this Audi dealer is shafting buyers at both end of the deal! I wonder if anyone of you lovely, cuddly folks in zx-land could tell me about installing a boost controller. When I bought the Zed (which I just cannot bring myself to sell) ChrisF told me the previous owner had had it prepped for a major BHP increase. So what is a boost controller and where can I buy one, is J@GPS the man to see? do I need different injectors?, I have read about the welding tips but have to confess to not really understanding it all. Does it allow variable boost and how is it controlled (ie controller in the dash?>) Also does a B/C over-ride the natural settings of the ECU? Thanks folks ------------------ Glen :)

I've got a boost controller and JWT ECU. Can bigger injectors just be plugged in or does the ECU and other bits need changing? I assume the injectors are just pumping larger amounts of fuel at a time so more boost can be used. I'm running 16psi now so what could I go to? How much do they cost and how easy to fit? Are there any scrapped cars out there with suitable big injectors for my Z? I'm Z broke anyway so not for a while anyway but I can dream.

Some plonker reversed onto the front of my Z in his 4x4, broke one of the headlight mounting lugs and drove off. Only witness didn't get his reg. Luckily no paint scrapes and the light is intact but shakes all over when moving. Tried glueing it but won't hold. How easy are they to remove and is the mounting section replaceable on it's own? Had a quick look tonight and couldn't see how you get 'em out.

what is the 'key lock adapter' for? just ripped it out of car in an attempt to disengage the push button on the steering column - fed up with sitting in car and waiting for turbo timer to count down, bloody inconveniant when you just pop into a shop... Ok just organized one of two dates in November for the dyno day. 17th november which is a Saturday 24th November which is also a saturday 33 SQUID for your run and they will tune car if you want. Or you can just have a run. Youll get full print out and all. I nee dto get this going so please can you give me a yay or a nay answer, and i will then need deposit or payement in full.

On the flat at 75 ish mine reads just under minus 7psi or minus half scale. Foot off decelerating gives almost -14psi. Is this about right? I remember reading a long time ago that the degree of vacuum pulled on closed throttle is a good indication of the condition of your piston rings and bores. So should it go to -14 or lower on foot off over-run? and is higher a bad sign?

lo hi, I didn't use my car for 2 days... then I used it for about 30min... then I didn't use it for 2 days... this morning as soon as I turned the key one tick.. just to that the red indicators on the dash went red... 1 second and all goes dead!... I thouhgt this is the battery or some fuse... I go the DirectLine rescue guy around.. and as soon as he got the jump-cable ON... the car got the power back just fine.... He said the alternator looks fine... and the battery is charging at 14,5 volts.. a bit higher than 14,4 (which is supposed to be the maximum!) He says I need to change the battery.... Hi all I'm seriously pissed! Spent a load of dosh on new seals for the targa tops, had them fitted, checked the drain holes etc. and the fucking thing pisses water in more than before.Help I'm out of ideas and at my wits end with tis fucking car. Any suggestions please would be helpful. Regards JOHN
