Does anybody know the tech details of the gubbins inside the CAS ? I need to know what type of LED's (or whatever they are) that are inside it. I've got it apart but the components inside don't have recognisable component part numbers or manufacturers names on them. If I can find this out then I can repair the CAS too. So anybody know, or perhaps know where I might be able to find out ? BTW the manual is no good - this is treated as a sealed unit.

how many people have had their gearboxes rebuilt ? and was it auto or manual ? if used car guides are warning people about shredded manual gearboxes, how common is it ? i only know 1 person that has had a manual gearbox rebuild, compared to a heck of a lot of autos.... granted, that some of them would be imported ones with smaller oil coolers, so specify that as well manual rebuilt ? (uk and import ?) uk auto rebuilt ? import auto rebuilt ? curious...

My mate has just bought a Ducati 748 and needs to sell his NSX (strange boy - only had it a few months, but he is kind of impulsive like that). It's a 1992 (I think) auto, black, with the Sport feedback steering option (whatever that is - £5K new !!!), 42K miles. He's looking for about £21K. Drop me a mail if anyones interested and I'll put you in touch. (Herts/Essex border)

Car: 92 UK spec 300 tt with auto air con Since my car is off the road with a dead turbo I went out this morning to check out the problems with the air con. There is a loud ticking noise coming from the auto amp but this goes away when warm air temp is selected and returns when set back to cold air. The air con pump clutch is not engaging and I have checked all the fuses. Could it be that the auto amp clicking is an indication that it has failed or is the noise the result of it trying to operate the pump but unable to do so due to another fault, perhaps the air con relay? I have read that the pump will not engage if the system is low on gas, and although I h…

Wot the hell is goin' on? I got a 89 Twin turbo with the standard Z wheels fitted to it - and on those wheels I got 225/50-16s fitted all round but I've just read a Tech'y thing through this site that says that all turbos run 225/50-16 front and 245/45-16 rears!!! So is mine right or wrong!?! or is the tech info wrong??? Need an answer quick gotta buy tyres tomorrow!

Had my ZX in at Marshalls Transmissions today, heres there thoughts: Car Revs fluctuate when cold due to trans oil being thick when cold, needs time to warm up. Cause the trans is shift kitted, the car is running under pressure and you can feel every change and shift firmly so therefeore when you step off the gas it feels like the car hasn't let go of the gear but it is the clutch kicking in. Sound right to you guys? Also got the A/C check out, was told I need a new TX valve? anyone wanna fill me in on this?

Anyone who has Windows XP installed I would start to download the Service Pack. Yes only a few days after it was released Microsoft have released a service pack fixing a small amount of the problems which dogs the OS. How the hell can MS release a OS knowing that in a few days the user will have to download a 100mb file to fix the problem.

OK, FIRSTLY, there has been an end of line announcement on these units. Sonic Blue will not be making any more but they will still give support during warranty at least (plus there is a very helpfull forum to get help from after warranty has finished). Also, there will continue to be free software updates since the software on the Empeg is related to some other Sonic Blue digital audio stuff. IMHO, it's still VERY worth getting. If you want any info/demos of an Empeg unit, me, Craig and Bob have them so you can ask any of us any questions etc. OK, now to the announcement: The price of Rio Car players has been reduced, both in the SONICblue eStore and at the I…

On my way back from the car wash today with my dad driving behind me in his car (a toyota soarer 4.0ltd 1700kg, 260 b.h.p) we decided to have a bit of a race on the motorway as traffic was light. At 50m.p.h I put my foot to the floor, the autobox kicked down and I expected to leave the Soarer behind (as the Z usually does) but instead the soarer sat 20ft behind me up to 80m.p.h, at which point it started to catch me, and was right up behind me when the limiter on it kicked in (112mph), the Z doesn't seem as quick recently and this proved it, the engine was changed 2 months ago and the pcv valves were done, when I'm pulling away from a standstill the revs drop to 500rp…

Well I reckon I've been sucessful in fixing a clock and a PTU so far. Not done so well with a CAS though , but all is not lost yet. So if anyone else has a broken ones sitting around then I reckon £10 to fix the clock and £25 for the PTU. No serious guarantees, but money back if it doesn't work. Can't say fairer than that. Let me know if you're interested.

Hello Guys and Girls, As you may know I had a expensive job done on my new bushings, while it was in pieces I asked them to look at the offside front wheel where there was a squeaking metal noise especially when turning right, the noise is intermitant and seems louder at lower speed, or maybe I just can't hear it. The garage didn't find anything, and they said they couldn't hear it either, so any ideas?? Any help gratefully received John

1991 J-spec 300ZXTT When I switch on/off the cruise control, no light appears on my dash... On the right of the steering wheel is a panel which lights up for overdrive and power on the left of the wheel the panel never seems to light up ever (not having a manual makes life hard!) Any advice on where c/c should light and what should light on the left panel? Cheers Robb

Just got in from inspecting my new toy, traced the oil leak to drivers side turbo (OH CRAP). I now need to look at the options available to get the job sorted and would be grateful for any advice you may have to offer. I know this aint gonna be cheep but I am not sure weather to have the original turbos repaired or go for new ones. Only one turbo is leaking at the moment but since its an engine out job would I be wiser to have both done at the same time? Should I pay the extra for new turbos, which may be a better bet in the long run? The original turbos have 100K on them and the car has had the cats removed (think that’s relevant). On the subject, Would you rec…
