K&N Filter kits

Does anyone use a K&N filter on their Z and if so how do they compare to Blitz or HKS considering the price difference?

Featured Replies

go for the blitz as its way cheaper looks better and performs better as well

My personal opinion and I know that this will start all sorts of flame wars is that K&N are the better filters in terms of doing what they're supposed to do - filter shite out of the air. Blitz are definitely not so good, but they might have a slight and I mean slight, performance benefit. Anything with foam in it is pants. Not particuarly enthusiastic about dry paper either.

I currently have a K&N panel filter in place of the standard unit. I'm planning on replacing that with a something soon, and I fully expect whatever that is to have either one or two K&N's on the end of it.

I have been offered a kit - brand new for £60. Not sure whether spending the extra £100 is worth the power output difference.

Is that the JWT kit with the aluminium adapter ring ? £60 is a good price for that. If it's just a standard K&N, then how does it fit on?

It has the MAF fitting kit.

i have K&N, and 60 quid is good, as they are about 200 new, if it's the cone

after seeing that induction kit test that someone posted a while ago, it was easy to see which ones really filter, and which ones dont....

extra performance or not, they still have a job to do...

Hmmm, BritZ would be my filst choice, I recentry spoke to crose friend of mine over pond! He say palticles that make it to comustion chamber via BritZ firter get murrered verly quickry and are basicrry incinelated on combustion! wink.gif

So you see that firtration test was not a refrection of leal rife apprication! In other words, burrshit!!! biggrin.gif

But if you are leally wollied about firtration, go for APEXi firter...VELY best at firtration and pelfolmance too! Contact DP Motorspolt, Dave most herpful and always ling back within sholt time!!! wink.gif

Hi Cos mate, I have a KN cone filter and seems ok to me, but be aware there is an increase in intake noise. Jeff TT

Did anyone read that review of the main filters.

Blitz HKS and K&N

The blitz had the best air flow but the filtering wasnt too good.

The HKS wasnt that good at the filtering and the air flow.

K&N was very good at the filtering but the air flow was just under the Blitz

The best for filtering and Air Flow was the Apex one.

I was worried after seeing that review especially as I'd just ordered one with Johnny! But think about it, that test wasn't realistic at all! BLITZ wouldn't be very popular if they went round shagging peoples engines due to the crap filtration of their own filter would they?

Any particles that get through are 99.99 percent annhialated when they hit the combustion chamber! wink.gif

If you wanna get pickey about it, I also read somewhere that the oil used to clean K&N intakes can possibly, over a period of time, get through the filter and line the inside walls of the intake tract. Which can possibly in turn upset the MAS!

Who cares, just get the one you want and be happy! I have! biggrin.gif Did I mention BLITZ? wink.gif
