I've just got an autometer boost gauge (thanks Smithy!) but I'm having a bit of trouble fitting it. The gauge doesn't come with vacuum hose, it comes with 1/8" NPT hose and connectors like this - I found a US web site and a discussion on tt.net that showed a place that the autometer hose will just screw into So, I've just been out to connect my gauge to this point and found that I have something connected to it already - What is it? And why does my jap spec have it but the US specs don't seem to? [This message has been edited by Dave Marley (edited 11-02-2002).]

Was it you I spotted in Weston-Super-Mare driving past Tesco's last night? Red Z, rear spoiler, I think it was lowered and alloyed but it was pissing down and I only had Z headlights (come to think of it, it could've been a Micra) ------------------

Ok, as some of you may know my engine is still in approx 200 pieces in my garage - while the bottom end gets rebuilt. (For those of you that don't know - its in about 200 peices in my garage ) In the meantime I've had loads of time to think about the rest of the work that I want to do, but can't decide whether or not it would be beneficial to remove the EGR system. Now, as far as I'm concerned its 99% there for emissions reasons, and only 1% to keep the temperature down in the detonation zone. Whilst digging through all the rides section last night i noticed some of you have had this done. I'm sure that if I remove the EGR system, I won't suffer from…

Good news for anyone who needs parts for their Z. I've just got another complete Z to dismantle. Its a 1991 J reg 300ZX twin Turbo manual with black leather. I'm sure someone will be wanting the complete leather interior ????????? I hope people will bear me in mind when they need parts. At least 50 of the 300ZX.CO.UK memebers have bought from me over the last 9 months, so I'm sure the parts from the new Z won't sit around in my garage for too long :-) I'd also like to thank this websites owners/administrators for running an excellent site and I hope to be a Z owner/driver myself again this summer. Just in case you don't remember, I had to dismant…

Hi ya Andy, had a thought about ptu failures after getting involved with Ken`s probs after the timing belt change. I have watched with interest the increase number of failures of these units and have a couple of idea`s you may have a view on. Firstly is seems to be acknowledged that the series 1 units suffer the overheat, solder failure internally that leads to intermittent or complete failure. My thoughts on the reliability of the unit is mixed as some of them are failing after 80k, 90k or 100k+ miles or after 10 or more years service,I do not think this constitutes a failure in design but points to an external cause in use. The under bonnet heat and locati…

Got home from work on Friday and the missus says "im very sorry, but ive had an accident in the Zed" shes only gone and kerbed it and took two fucking big chunks out of the side wall of the front and back tyres and damaged me Momo alloys. Today im waiting outside terminal 3 at Manchester airport to pick up my daughter and her boyfriend, they had been to Rome for the weekend, when a Mondeo goes to park in front of me and proceeds to reverse straight back into the front of me Zed! despite me blowing my horn for what seemed like fucking ages!!! Hi all. Tried posting this on the tech forum but got very little response. On a uk spec auto under normal driving conditions (no kick down) is it normal to have to drive to around 65 mph (5500 rpm) before the box will shift up to third and then be able to reduce speed to 30 – 40 mph still in third at around 2000 rpm. The reason I ask is because I was driving in traffic today, doing about 60 mph and could not quit get up enough speed to get the box to change from second to third gear, as a result I was stuck driving at around 5000 rpm for half an hour and I’m supposed to be running the engine in (not supposed to exceed 4000 rpm). Any other uk auto dri…

Right, these things are baking my noodle big time! I came to the conclusion that when I drive back from down south to de Wales they heat up the lenses and burn off the misty stuff! So theory being that by the time I get close to home they produce a similar amount of light as any normal car should...not so. Sometimes the lights are completely arse and like tonight, me and the Mrs went on a shortish journey and they were bang on. What is going on? Is it possible that the bulb is moving around inside the lense? I don't think so. But I am absolutely bamboozled on this one. One minute they are shite and next they are like a sodding lighthouse on acid! Comments?

Some of you may have remembered that my car door was damaged while parked in a car park which I have to pay for. I went to the security and they said they are not responsible for the damage. Well, I looked into the situation and found a law called Bailment which means temporary turning over possession of property, and while that property is in the hands of others, measures must be made to care for property. Failure to care for the property is classed as neglect. I wrote to the owners of the car park telling them this, and giving a list of things which I classed as neglect. Gaurd not patroling, Cameras not pointing up the car park, Only able to park at the…
