How can I accurately measure/adjust the boost my car is running at? It is currently set via two bleed valves under the bonnet. Does this need to be done by a specialist or can I do it myself?

Hi guys, I'm asking this question on behalf of my best friend in Holland who's also got a Zed but isn't on this forum ... His car (a '91 US spec TT manual 2-seater) is running perfectly fine but he's noticed that the viscous fan comes on quite regularly and very loudly. I know from experience that mine rarely comes on unless I'm bombing down the motorway on a very hot day (and lets face it ... that only happened once since I've owned my Zed ) He doesn't do very long journeys in the car and doesn't drive it very often (has a company car). The car also doesn't seem to overheat at all. Nothing else seems to be wrong with the car but as he's not very technical he w…

I have a Cobra 7928 Alarm in my Zed. It is apparently universally compatable with central locking systems, does anyone have the wiring diag for how to hook it up? The page I do have says to refer to Diagrams 3 to 6, whatever they may be. Cheers guyz Tim

While I'm hogging the top two slots on the tech-page, now is probably the best time to post my next question : My Z has zero rust on it - apart from ONE structural member. However I can't find it in FAST - (The Nissan parts CD for the un-familiar). Its the metal section that sits directly below the radiator / air-con heat exchanger / oil cooler. (About 10cm deep, and runs the width of the car, between where the tie-rod bushes are). (The bottom skirt amongst other things is fixed to it) Can anyone identify a part number? Coz mine is MEGA 'king rusty - I mean *really bad*, could probably poke a screwdriver through it in places! Cheers you all most …

Just got this from Easytrack. We’re running a day with the SIDC club at BRANDS HATCH on SUNDAY 24th Feb. All Japanese car makes are welcome to join alongside the Subarus, so we thought you might be interested. The day is being held with numbers restricted to 50 cars and at a special price of just £120. For that, there will be 30 minutes tracktime in every hour between 9am and 4pm available. Instructors will be on site as usual. To book into this special event trackday, simply visit www.easytrack.co.uk and you’ll find more details in the events section. ------------------

I've just got an autometer boost gauge (thanks Smithy!) but I'm having a bit of trouble fitting it. The gauge doesn't come with vacuum hose, it comes with 1/8" NPT hose and connectors like this - I found a US web site and a discussion on tt.net that showed a place that the autometer hose will just screw into So, I've just been out to connect my gauge to this point and found that I have something connected to it already - What is it? And why does my jap spec have it but the US specs don't seem to? [This message has been edited by Dave Marley (edited 11-02-2002).]

Was it you I spotted in Weston-Super-Mare driving past Tesco's last night? Red Z, rear spoiler, I think it was lowered and alloyed but it was pissing down and I only had Z headlights (come to think of it, it could've been a Micra) ------------------

Ok, as some of you may know my engine is still in approx 200 pieces in my garage - while the bottom end gets rebuilt. (For those of you that don't know - its in about 200 peices in my garage ) In the meantime I've had loads of time to think about the rest of the work that I want to do, but can't decide whether or not it would be beneficial to remove the EGR system. Now, as far as I'm concerned its 99% there for emissions reasons, and only 1% to keep the temperature down in the detonation zone. Whilst digging through all the rides section last night i noticed some of you have had this done. I'm sure that if I remove the EGR system, I won't suffer from…

Good news for anyone who needs parts for their Z. I've just got another complete Z to dismantle. Its a 1991 J reg 300ZX twin Turbo manual with black leather. I'm sure someone will be wanting the complete leather interior ????????? I hope people will bear me in mind when they need parts. At least 50 of the 300ZX.CO.UK memebers have bought from me over the last 9 months, so I'm sure the parts from the new Z won't sit around in my garage for too long :-) I'd also like to thank this websites owners/administrators for running an excellent site and I hope to be a Z owner/driver myself again this summer. Just in case you don't remember, I had to dismant…
