Just put my engine back in, ready for the gearbox this weekend, then fingers crossed I'll have a runner! One question that someone might be able to help me with, where do the two bolts for the negative battery cable go on the back of the engine? For the life of me, I can't remember and the service manual doesn't mention it at all. Thanks in advance!

i had a one piece fitted to my car and this cured most of my vibration probs. but now i still get a slight vibe about 60 the car dosen't feel smooth the other problem is in 4th gear if i press down slightly the stick seems to me just touching the prop i had a short shift fitted could this be the reason or is it more likely to be the rear gearbox mount (i.e still slight vibration) if it is the rear gearbox mount is this an easy job i'm totally feed up with taking the exhaust off please not again any help and advice on this matter would be much appreciated and stop me hanging myself cheers mark

MOT due in early April. New backboxes required and front crossmember corroded and split beyond repair. Do (can ?)i repair(replace) crossmember and exhaust or will it be more economical to break the whole car, along with my heart ? Minter and want to keep but my pockets aren't deep enough. God fecking dammit !!!!!!!! [This message has been edited by wozza (edited 21-03-2002).]

To all oracles of the Z, I have been losing coolant steadily for some time now, and have been trying to find the source. To locate it I placed some crepe paper,(that is crepe paper, I want to keep peoples focus on this and not have this thread go off on a double entendre tangent frenzy) under the car and to see if or where it got wet. It did get wet but I don't have easy access to the underside of the car, no jack. The leak seemed to emanate from just to the left of centre of the crossmember, just behind the hard pipe running acrooss the underside of the car. If anyone has a clue where and what might the problem be give us a shout! All the Best Mark

one of the jobs I hate is drying the car after, so when I saw this in Costco yesterday, I thought I'd buy it and give it a try. Well I used it today and I dried most of the water off the z in about 3 minutes, then a quick go with the chamois and it was done. all in all about 5 minutes. Basically it's like a flap of plastic (made of flexible silicone) with a handle and it acts like a windscreen wiper, but it bends to the contours of the car and it doesn't scratch. Well worth around a fiver! Vijay
