General Discussions - 300ZX Related

I am well and truly a one trick pony I know :laugh:. But I follow 'customer' remits and these are two more completed today. Not going to say who they're for but let them comment if they so wish. In the foreground is a genuine 99 spec one and as is the way these days the 300ZX lights up red of course with my unique work - both are not powered up in the pic so you could say in daytime mode. The other just a normal one to start with, complete with my red 300ZX work also that mimics the genuine units, this lights up also, both are provided with the invertor to carry out this job. So for a start, did another boost leak test yesterday, It still seams to be coming from the back at the top. got underneath it and the turbo's sound fine. It appeared to be coming from this thing (red circle) there was some oil around the bolt that was rippling in the breeze (from the boost leak I'm assuming) but no amount of soapy water was making any bubbles, although it was slightly muffling the sound when the rush was around it. Tried tightening both sides which seemed to help a bit, but still didn't stop the leak. Also I was wondering what the thing is the green arrow is pointing too? after boxing it all backup after drove it home…

Hi Chaps. Wondering what this pipe is please. Passenger front wheel well, comes from behind the front bumper area and goes what seems to be into the frame rail. Its a dead end pipe with just a slit opening on the end of it. Is it from the carbon canister vent? Just doing a bit of tidying up. Fully removed all AIV and PRVR components. Thanks...

Some of you may know I have an FB page documenting my progress, but since a few don't have/want FB, I'm going to start uploading pics here too as I get time. As I've said before, not competing this year, time is being focussed on family and home projects, both of which I largely ignored last year! I also enjoy modifying and developing the car as much as driving it, so can tinker away at it through the year, so don't expect fast progress. Open for discussion, criticism etc :)

Hi all just finally pulled my finger out to go and do some more work on the zed, does the unorthodox under drive pulley set still allow use of the air con?

Glad I decided to strip the car, luckily the rust in the floor is only surface. I presume that this is caused by the lealy targa's..... Stripping the car is fun but I could do with a skip lol

Looking for some advice here... I was driving my zed last weekend, I was driving normally along the motor way then I noticed my heating went cold, very quickly after this I noticed a loss of power, I began to slow down but before I could do anything else the engine cut out completely. I had to pull into the hard shoulder and as I did a lot of smoke began to come from under the bonnet. I opened it up to let it cool down and noticed there was coolant spit all over the top of the engine. I tried to fire it up again after it cooled but had no joy and had to be towed home (over 70 miles :sad: ) I'm no mechanic but I'm fairly sure the engine is wrecked, I've been really …

Not only did Keith give me a great price on some glass that I was after for the zed, he also drove the width of the country to deliver it to me to ensure it arrived safe. I required some throttle body gaskets so on searching the forum I came across a thread where Jimmer said he had some, emailed him and politely also asked about the idle valve gasket, he had this also - wouldn't accept any payment whatsoever :cool3:. A few weeks later I sent a pm to Znut, optimistically really enquiring if he had rocker cover gaskets and a plenum gasket, his reply said I was a lucky so and so as he had all 3 !! right chaps my air con wont work, ive upgraded to series 2 with ecu and pod and pipes, and compressor, had it vac/ pressurised and filled system etc 134a compressor wont click in, fuses ok/swapped relay etc system pressure is good tried linking pressure switch out still wont click in so pressure must be good put direct feed to compressor hey presto works a treat and cool air so its control side any suggestion, faulty ecu or pod or have i missed sumat?? rich

Hi Guys. whats been going on is when the engine is warm/hot and i start it , it starts okay and the revs go about 800 -900. but when i put it in D or R the revs suck right down and sometimes stalls. inconvenient and quite frankly downright embarrassing. When the engine is cold, the idle is at 1100-1200 so when it sucks down it doesn't stall. No i have read LOADS of articles about this and the fixes are to numerous to mention. One thing i do not want to do is to go ferreting around, looking for the answer only to make a dozen more problems from disturbing 20 year old electrics. So is this problem of mine a common issue and all i need to do is increase the idle speed? On…

Hi, I am considering doing a NA diff conversion to my TT and would like comment from those that have experienced the conversion, the net is full of those for and against. My TT has a fully forged motor with Z1 GT675 turbos and has some big power potential although I am still running in the motor. Some time back I discovered that my TT diff had some back lash as well as my inner and outer cv's needed changing and the cost was massive due to the unavailability of spares in my country. On the net I found that the NA conversion was the way to go and some claim "best performance mod to a TT"and in my situation was the most cost effective way to overcome my worn out rear …

At last I've had a bit of time to spend on the TT!. After 13 years of ownership I decided to get rid of the mid level spoiler and go full on 99 :) just me door fillers to go on and some work on the rear bumper. Bloody thing is missing on cylinder 1 though :( done all the usual cleaning, new plugs, coil packs ,ptu etc but missing on one :( anyhow heres some pics of how she looking

i all Need help with this. Managed to get into the cars gearbox ecu and everything electrical is functioning correctly. However according to the main ecu my timing is 15 degrees before top dead centre. And its not picking a load signal. Is any of this related to my gearbox issue? Sent from my GT-I9300 using Tapatalk
