So its finally happening after been off the road for well over a year the zed is on Target for its refurbishment. Last year I started with doing all the underbody suspension stuff to make the ride more stable and after that I decided I wanted to do a full strip down to the bare shell and start from scratch to create a show quality z32. After much bad luck and many thousands of pounds wasted on rotted zeds i'm cracking on with the original plan. So as a quick update i'll post some older picks followed over the next few weeks by an overall progress report. Starting off with how she was when I first purchased her 3 years ago until the state she is now t…

why would this happen, in the morning or no matter what time of day, damp hot cold wet or dry i start the car up and here goes the fun starts, the car starts as it always has done on the button, really quick with a couple of quick cranks starts, ( perfect ) then with a cold car i drive down a raod that is exactly one mile long. i get to the end of these junction with the revs a tiny advanced cas of cold engine, nicly slow down rd 40 mph. then i turn left out of a t junction the right straghtr away then drive down the next road of witch is just over a mile long. half way down this road and in this time scale my car within minutes poss about three to four pendeng traffic s…

Hi all,ive come across this problem and hopeing someone might have an answer,The z was due its mot and i knew it needed 2 new tyres at front, being a tad short of cash before mot i looked for some part worns on ebay, and found 2 yokohama s206 that had only done 150 miles,so ad said!!!. Anyway my mate who is a professional tyre fitter fitted them but said it looked like they have been on a track as wear to part of the tyre wasnt even. The car sailed through the mot..yay..then deciding i had been z less for too long i took the old girl out for the afternoon. This is when the tyre noise showed up.got to about 60 and the sound with windows down is almost like rubber flapp…

Gents after standing for two years had the zed out for a spin today was great to be back in the hot seat, a few niggles though... at first was running really poor, ok so I thought poor and old petrol so filled up with shell optimax, still running very poorly then realised my error, I had bought new tyres for the rear with a larger profile so this was making the racelogic traction thinking the wheels were slipping as I hadn't reprogrammed the racelogic for the new tyre sizes. so switched of the traction and it ran great, but then I noticed that the antilock light was up!!! hmm im thinking that as ive switched the traction off, it has that put th…

Hey, I've used release lube, heat, and a breaker bar (which was starting to bend), but it doesn't want to budge - I figured I can't be the only one who had trouble with this, so anyone have any suggestions?

My zed is a 1996 series 4 which for the mot to pass needs cats as I currently understand it. I'm fairly sure my cats are fooked and having them out in the rain for the last 6 months has doomed them further. So as I direct replacement is this what I need ? http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/321228906950?ssPageName=STRK:MEWAX:IT&_trksid=p3984.m1423.l2649

mmmm - choices. The zed is getting picked up hopefully tomorrow for sure and i'm stuck on what colours to go for. What I have decided is that I want a show finish and it will be one of the kandi variety. I'm thinking a purple or brandy wine ? Anyone seen these colours up close on a zed or anything else ?

So still trying to fix the Zed, and having some cooling problems, the radiator is boling over into the overflow, tried changing the rad cap but no success, more worrying thing is that the bottom of the radiator seems to be staying cold where the top is boiling. Don't think it's the hose either at the bottom. So thoughts were to get a new alloy radiator and I've already got some silicone pipes to fit anyway. then take off the water pipes on the block and check the thermostat. Question for now is, which radiator to go for? I've seen a few on eBay for around the £118 mark, and zcenter have one for £120. Has anyone bought a bad one? Car was an auto at so…

After doing 2 injectors in the last few months, and still not finding a dremel bit that does the job easily, what have you guys found to be the best bit for the job? I've used emery cloth wheels and they are good, but you eat through so many of them! Stones seem to clog up with the aluminium because you can't get cooling to the area easily. Am I missing the magic bit that takes away the material but doesn't clog up? Any advice welcomed!

I bought a new 300zx and just did a boost leak test and the flange off the after market bovs are leaking they are on the intercooler pipes beside the tb pipes I replaced them with the orginal pipes but iam wondering if i replaced the vacuum hoses properly Should the drivers side run from the nipple on the intercooler pipe to the driverside of balance tube? Should the pass side run to the plenum? The intercooler hose was just cut and not capped either side

Anyone removed one from a series 4 ? I've followed the standard guide but there is a few differences in the pipe work. Only removing mine as the brackets are rusty so might install one from an r32. I've read that the ecu brings up fault codes but how does it know ?

As per the title really. I'm looking for extra lock on my 300. It's a high budget (for me!) build and I was considering geomasters (posh hehe) but they don't do them for Z32s They do them for R32/33 and S-bodies though. If the Z32 is the same as a R32 (and it looks like it is) then bonus. I can just buy a skyline set up! If not I need to think harder and I figure my options are: Mod the Z32 hubs (are they made of aluminium? I've read they are) cut up a set of £500 geomaster hubs like Matt Samual did (no way am I doing this!) Swap to a S-body McPherson set up (I need to buy coilovers so this may be doable as I could spec them to be Z32 tops an…

Well had time today to clean all the connectors and double check again why cylinder 1 has gone down. I had spark and the injector ohmed within range at 12.6 ohms, so i unplugged the injector while the car was running and made no difference, so i knew then i must trace the problem further back, so having read about another member having an issue with the ECU, i thought i would start there. I took the ECU out of the car and opened her up, all looked fine on the front of the board and the secondary board, so continued with the rear of the main board and i could see instantly the problem, green corroded pins on two adjacent pins on the board, which co-inside with the fe…

Been out in the zed all day and the more I drive it the worse the tick over getting:) settles to 800ish at first then the hotter it gets the more erratic it becomes! At some points it's up at nearly 2000 rpm when stationery at the lights:cursing:have to keep blipping the throttle to make it go back to 1000rpm,and it's running rough at low speeds again:no:,bl--dy car.
