General Discussions - 300ZX Related

is there some sort of safety feature to prevent from high levels off boost being run whilst the engine is still coldish. Its just after about 3 miles the temp. guage is in middle , so nice and warm, but when put foot flat on floor the engine kind on dies and i end up shooting forward on to the steering wheel. This has happened 3 times now and seemed to be the same feeling as when I tried turnibg the boost up to about 18psi for go. Is it just the injectors running out or something else?

I know nobody here probably means any offence but could we please refrain from using the expression Jap on the forum. I've worked beside Japanese people for a bit and it's not liked. J-spec or Japanese takes a bit longer to type but it's nicer.

Hi, After some advice regarding lightened flywheels. Seen the recent article in Jap Performance and it mentioned that lightened flywheels give better throttle responese. Currently about to purchase an upgraded clutch(ACT) from America so thought about purchasing a flywheel aswell. How does the flywheel affect the performance and what are the advantages/disadvantages? Any recommendations on makes of flywheel available? Thanks Ronnie

Anyone ever had the inlet manifold off their 300 TT. I have an oil leak below it and due to access to pipes under the manifold being restricted, am wondering if the engine will need to come out. Cheers John Crisp

Believe this is caused by the rubber 'feet' on the tailgate becoming worn, but does anyone know where I can get some new parts from - Curtesy Nissan don't list them (or not that I can see anyway), and I don't have a Nissan dealer near me? SE? AndyZ?

All, Some advice please! What are the fundamental pros and cons of buying an import? I already know that it'll cost me an extra 250 quid per year to insure if it's from Japan, but I'm thinking that imports tend to be less pricey to buy in the first place. So - if I get a Jap import, and keep it for two years, I'll have broken even! There are other things that worry me though. * Isn't there some evil super-low speed limiter, that if I was to tinker with would alter my insurance some more? * I've heard some worrying things about the quality of cars imported from Japan (probably gonna get flamed now :p ) * Will I struggle with emmissions tests e…

Hi peeps, I've got a small engine problem that someone out there may have an answer to; when the engine revs level out after accelerating or de-celerating rather than continue cruising smoothly at level revs they dip at half second (ish) intervals by about 400 revs for about 2 seconds then level out. Any ideas? Also, my leaky targa roofs are really starting to p*** me off severely as they leak both on passenger side and drivers, right on my leg when I'm driving. Any ideas how I can stop it? Any thoughts on either of the above will, as always, be massively appreciated. Ta.:confused:

Unfortunately, there is Japanese speech over the english on this one so its not perfect. nice blue z spotted in wakefield parking near westgate i slowed down in my red corsa with hokenhimes on if that helps and looked and the driver looked back must have been some one on here cos saw some one talking about the privet plate on it some time a go start was A 2X was a very nice car

Anyone ever removed the inlet manifold on their 300. I have an oil leak from what looks like the rocker cover under the manifold on the passenger side. I have removed all the wires plugs pipes and bolts that i can see, the manifold moves slightly but wont come up. I was hoping to get the two pipes under the manifold when it was loose and lifted a bit but frustration got the better of me and I walked away b4 i lost it. Is the engine better removed or can it be done as i am doing it with the engine in place. I am not one for going to a garage but i maybee have to this time. 2 things Craig have you had me cheque i sent it lase week :) 2nd - 3 Z's in the gloucester area / 1 black with a priv plate , just out of cheltenham near tewkesbury i wont say where as u may not want peeps to know . 1 red in gloucester saw you other nite on the A40 chelt to glos on a H plate i was in me 200 not the Z at the time 1 silver on a j or h plate looks like a uk spec , at least one of you must be on these forums if not im gonna go find u and put the webbie under ye windscreen wipers :)

A few weeks ago I mentioned that a certain dealer in Birmingham was selling a K.plated red import zed as a 1992 with the seat belt tags cut out, however the chassis build date showed it be a 1990 G reg! Unfortunately the car was purchased by an unsuspecting customer who has since contacted me. Firstly the car broke down on the return trip home (auto-box failure) and had to be transported. The dealer offered an alternative manaul car as a swap +some cash. I've been reading up a little about headlights. It looks like there're a few grumblings about the power of the 300ZX's headlights, along with various upgrade suggestions. Is this true of UK spec cars as well as Japanese ones? Does anyone agree that an upgrade is a good plan? What's the best thing to do? Cheers, Russ.

I've just sold an Import MR-S and am looking to buy a Zed. There are so many versions out there and am looking for a TT, Manual, 2 seater. I know these are very hard to come by. Are all of them Targa and do some come in single turbo form or is that an NA conversion? Also what version would you suggest? Thanks Adam

While I wait for my cheque to wing its way toward Craig i'm hoping for a bit of advice on a clutch issue that is worrying me.. I can't remember if it's always done it but the clutch on my Zed is really heavy when the car's turned off - when you start up it's ok cos I imagine the servo assists but I can't remember it being like this a while ago. Also, driving to work today I thought I noticed the clutch getting heavier, not incredibly so - but noticeable. The clutch doesn't seem to be slipping - no revs rising without speed etc - the pedal just seems heavy. What's going on guys? Is it on the way out? :( Or could it be my imagination? i.e. do…
