Anyone ever removed the inlet manifold on their 300. I have an oil leak from what looks like the rocker cover under the manifold on the passenger side. I have removed all the wires plugs pipes and bolts that i can see, the manifold moves slightly but wont come up. I was hoping to get the two pipes under the manifold when it was loose and lifted a bit but frustration got the better of me and I walked away b4 i lost it. Is the engine better removed or can it be done as i am doing it with the engine in place. I am not one for going to a garage but i maybee have to this time. Any replies will be welcome......cheers John Crisp

A few weeks ago I mentioned that a certain dealer in Birmingham was selling a K.plated red import zed as a 1992 with the seat belt tags cut out, however the chassis build date showed it be a 1990 G reg! Unfortunately the car was purchased by an unsuspecting customer who has since contacted me. Firstly the car broke down on the return trip home (auto-box failure) and had to be transported. The dealer offered an alternative manaul car as a swap +some cash. This is where I get involved and check out the alternative.. To say this zed was a dog is doing our canine friends an injustice! This was a 1990 brown & black ? import with what looked …

I've been reading up a little about headlights. It looks like there're a few grumblings about the power of the 300ZX's headlights, along with various upgrade suggestions. Is this true of UK spec cars as well as Japanese ones? Does anyone agree that an upgrade is a good plan? What's the best thing to do? Cheers, Russ.

I've just sold an Import MR-S and am looking to buy a Zed. There are so many versions out there and am looking for a TT, Manual, 2 seater. I know these are very hard to come by. Are all of them Targa and do some come in single turbo form or is that an NA conversion? Also what version would you suggest? Thanks Adam

While I wait for my cheque to wing its way toward Craig i'm hoping for a bit of advice on a clutch issue that is worrying me.. I can't remember if it's always done it but the clutch on my Zed is really heavy when the car's turned off - when you start up it's ok cos I imagine the servo assists but I can't remember it being like this a while ago. Also, driving to work today I thought I noticed the clutch getting heavier, not incredibly so - but noticeable. The clutch doesn't seem to be slipping - no revs rising without speed etc - the pedal just seems heavy. What's going on guys? Is it on the way out? :( Or could it be my imagination? i.e. do…

Ok, so, i don't have a zx, but i still have plenty of zx based questions. One thing that I'm curious about is dump valves. Now, while they sound great, or at least i think they do, I've heard conflicting views about them, and whether they actually help, or hinder the engine, and only re-circulating dunp valves are actually worth considering. Anyone have a definitive answer, or perhaps can shed more light? Thanks

After all the rain we've just had ,got in my 'Z' this morning to find the passenger seat rather wet! Noticed drips comming in at the front join of the targa top. I slapped loads of Autoglym bumpercare on the seals only a few days ago. Is there a cheap way to stop this in the future or should I get some new seals, and if so where should I get them etc.? Cheers, F.T.

Just been lookin at a 300 owned my someone local. He melted two pistons and has had to rebuild it himself. He showed me the reciepts he got with the car and guess what...Superchip fitted!!! £450 for the chip £40 for management check (like to know what they did there) £40 for fuel pressure check?????? £50 for rolling road tune with no graph or printout supplied??? The total bill was nearly £1000. I know the place that fitted it and its your typical Maxy Power type garage that used to make its money from splitfire sparkplugs and fitting bleed valves to renault 5 turbos but now claims to be a japanese tuning specialist like many others do. Im gonna check the…

Quick question for you all. I've been over at twinturbo.net for a while now, and have previously only used this site for its wonderful online service manual. Is that feature gone now? I checked FAQ but found nothing. Also, what does Zed mean? I know it refers to Z cars, but Zed? Like a Zepplin thing? Thanks, hope to see you around here more often, Tony

Hi all. Not trying to make my first post particularly controversial... does anyone have any information about what locations do what in the Z32 EPROM? I recently had the chance to dump out a couple of non-standard chips, one of which has 3 selectable maps. If it's likely to be a help to the 300 community I'd like to propose posting these dumps somewhere for all to examine, maybe building up a database to see who's doing what in their "performance" mapping. If anyone's worried about piracy, I can list these in a format that can't be directly imported into an EPROM programmer. I s'pose, technically, anyone making a new map is infringing Nissan's copyright anyway by starting…

...so recently, the radio and CD player have developed that wirring, groaning noise in the background related to engine speed. I've removed the unit and checked all of the connections and the earth. All look ok, and the noise is still there. Anyone got any ideas where to look next and what I should be looking for (ie could it be a poor earth on the ariel?) ...any suggestions gratefully received. thanks Jack
