General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hello again Good news someone is interested in my 928s therefore i'm a little closer to a 300zx.I've read a little and it seems a '91 onwards would be my choice.One with T-BAR electric seats/mirrors etc i'm not sure of engine size though? I've enjoyed the 928 auto and would like an auto zx.What sort of price should i be looking for one with 50-60k on the clock? Is there an owners club that can offer cheap insurance? Finally i've not actually been in or driven one,are they as much fun as they look?Does anyone a dealer that may hold one i can test? That'll do for now

hi, try putting cruise on the other day but is not working anymore. what & how can i check to find the problem.

Nightmare Driving home from london today, and notice my breaks are failing, If I put my foot down it goes to the floor and the car slows a little bit, if I then release the peddle and push down hard I start to break, If i then release again and break they come in ok. after 10 meters off the break though this all starts again With the car off the breaks go to the floor for a few pumps and then it stays rock hard. im very confused.

i have had an induction kit and stainless exhaust fitted for some time now. but i m stuck between fitting a boost controller or going for nitrous. have any of you guys got gas on your zeds if so have you had any problems and is it as good as it sounds?

Hi guys, me again. Still got the problem with the high tickover etc. I've cleaned the PTU connectors and done an ECU reset but to no avail, still got the problem. Can anyone tell me where to find the throttle position sensor, how to clean the throttle bodies and anything else worth a try? Pictures would be a great advantage as I'm not brilliantly mechanically minded. I've tried looking on twinturbo.net, but can't access their doc's because they have a problem with their site at the mo. Cheers again.:mad:

my heater matrix has packed up and its getting chilly, has anyone attempted a DIY install? I know it is located right under the dash! I've done more or less every other job myself but not sure about this one! don't fancy paying SE £400 LABOUR! (8 hrs) thanx in advance.......

Does anyone know of any firms in the UK who have the knowledge, hardware and expertise to remap a Mine's ECU? I guess I'm after a co. with rolling road facilities etc? http://www.prospec-ms.co.uk sell the Mine's ECU, but they list abbey motorsport as their garage. Any other offerings? Tim

Had to post just to gloat, and seeing as my cheque for membership hasn't cleared yet I can only post here! Just got a new mobile valeting company to do the cars in my office car park. They only charge £15 fo a complete wash n wax, vac out, polish inside (including glass!), black the tyres, empty the ashtray and leave an air-freshener in there. A good price, but coz I'm the boss and I gave them the business I get my ZX done for FREE EVERY WEEK, YEAHHHHHHHH!!!!!!!:D :D :D :p :D

can anyone suggest any springs that will lower my Z 40mm or more? lowest so far are MJP's at 35mm but don't want a gap at all between rubber and arches! (just put 18's on) .......... and I know it will bottom out etc but I want that slammed look. cheers.

I'm thinking of buying a 300ZX, probably a 2+2 model (due to occasional need to transport 2 small children), but reading reviews and things it's unclear to me which types boast 2+2 configurations. Are all types (non-turbo, TT, targa etc.) available as 2+2, or is it only certain ones. Or am I being really stupid and ALL 300ZX's are 2+2s? Can someone clarify this for me. Oh, and the next question is - just how practical/impractical are the rear seats in the 2+2? Many thanks, Kess

Can anyone tell me what a flywheel looks like. I've found one bit that I think looks like a flywheel. Its bolted to the back of the engine by 8 bolts. It has a further 8 holes outside where the 8 bolts go. It has cogs on the outside. Its 12.5 inches diameter and weighs only 2kg. Is that it or is that something to do with the gearbox ????? Any help appreciated. Thanks Andy

I need a replacement Autbox ECU for my 91 import, other from Nissan of course, who will not want the car as psrt payment. Any Ideas greatfully received:mad: :confused:

i have just finished rebuilding the engine on my 90 z32 tt the unit is back in but im having trouble finding out where the pipes on the right hand egrc solenoid valve go to can anyone help cheers guys lloydox

G'day folks!! I've got a '91 tt jap import that is currently alternating between two faults. The most common is that she's ticking over at around 2000 revs, she'll do this for a week or so then switch to a second fault which is even more infuriating, this being that after the car has attained whatever speed the position of the accelerator pedal determines, rather than cruise nicely at that speed, the revs will dip at half second (approx) intervals by about 400 revs untill I accelerate or de-celerate at which point she does both fine, until, the speed levels out again. She'll do this for about 3 days or so then, revert back to the high-revving fault again!!! Anyone …

as they made the 300zx upto 2001 in japan, how come we dont see many newer ones over here for sale?. sure would be great to buy a nearly new zed. :) steve

i have the chance to buy a 300 zx twin turbo 90 g reg, will it say on the log book if its import or uk model, is an import a bad buy, its got 2 owners from new and it very nice condition with full leather and cd player and 18 in alloys. thank rob

looking 2 buy an engine stand or i might make one using rescourses at work!!! but how much does the z32tt engine weigh?? have seen a stand in screwfix for bout 35 squids holds 750lbs is this strong enough??

My aerial doesn't go all the way down so at the weekend I stripped it all out and lubricated it all with WD40 but it still seems to not go down fully. I stripped all the motor out to see if anything was worn but there was nothing. It goes down if you turn the radio off and then back on and off again really quick. Please help me. Ivan :(

Heh, cheers Dave. That's great news. I'm certainly not here to take the p!ss - if I get one of these cars I'd be happy to cough up. And if anyone wants to sell me their unmodded UK spec manual with leather I'd be a) gobsmacked, and b) quite interested! still grinning about russ-tick... Russ.
