General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Hi, Can someone reccomend the best way to fix up the engine undertray. At the moment it's held together with cable ties, which break after a short time and everything falls apart. What do you use? Where possible I've got the orginal bolts etc, but a lot of the original undertray holes don't seam to match up with a Stillen bumper. Jez.

Another question if you don't mind. Want to chuck a sub in the boot - anyone know of someone who makes up a nice little snug-fitting box? (in THIS country!) The black Z at Jeff's with the 2 subs left & right in the boot, anyone on here? Thanks, James.

Cats & back pressure! I want to remove cats but want toi keep some backpressure to save the enevitable (rear seal failure). Ok. Can a aftermarket expantion can/silencer be fitted in its place with sure results? Boost psi. As in the mag from the rolling road test last year, im still over fueling LARGE! I've made my own jets & going down the range in 0.1mm incraments. Im at 1.32mm at pressent, the differance is massive & the boost is off the scale (not that accurate we know!) just how much can the stock system take safely. And why am i waisting so much fun/fuel? The fuel system is mint & no leaks. harve

I know this has been asked b4 but doing a search did not come up with any real answer so............ BOVs or Recircs(aftermarket) I dont care about the whoosh but my standard recircs have had it, what I do care about is the general performance of the car. Im leaning towards recircs.... Answers on a postcard please!

Hi, just put my Z through its SVA, it failed, actually on several stupid things, how about the front indicators are no good because they cant be seen at a 45 degre angle from the opposite side to which they are flashing??? As if it matters. Solution? to pack they out a bit so they can be seen. (And of course remove the packing when its passed.) If any one wnats some recent experience on the SVA just drop me a line. Brakes, it failed because with the engine off and the servo empty at a certain pedal pressure it only had 28% of some figure they came up with, so I need new pads, apparently Jap ones are harder and so need a touch more effort. What do you guys suggest…

Anyone got any recommendations ? It's a present for someone to use in the gym so it needs to be small. Ideally have enough memory for a couple of hours of music plus reasonable battery life. Oh, cheap would be nice too. And the ability to have it in my hands in 4 days is essential (yes darling, of course I'm ready for your birthday). Cheers !

Hi, I need some advice on where to get a new door, glass and mirror for my 300zx or even a good body shop to sort it out. Unfortunately my car was hit by a motorbike this weekend and cyclist came through my driverside window, taking most of the door with it!! Any help appreciated

I was messing around with connectors on my cd system because it has not been working properly when i suddenly find my car is DEAD! Its not the battery, the interior lights come on and the alarm system is working. When i put the key in the ignition and turn, no dashboard lights come on and the car wont start - no turning of the engine can be heard. Though the arial motor can be heard when i switch the ignition on the first turn... Its a jap auto and i cant shift the auto lever at all... Almost couldn't believe it, the shop that did my suspension didn't tighten everything up correctly, the nuts on the top of one front shock were all coming off. I've done them up, but what I need to know is how tight should they be? I guess lock the first nut down gently until it almost starts to twist the rubber underneath...(with the car on the ground), then tighten the second nut against it. Am I missing any other parts, just two nuts right?

Had a 300 towed in today as the guy said it wouldn`t start due to an electrical fault after driving through a puddle. Basically the car was just giving a loud click on cranking, sounded like starter or battery. Stuck the boost pack on it but still nothing. Anyway after a bit of searching and digging found the problem, 1" of water in both plenium`s!! The guy had driven through what he thought was a puddle but turned out to be a 3ft puddle! So what damage are we looking at?, engine sounds siezed and i ain`t no mechanic so me mate is having a butchers but doesn`t look good. What is the worst that could have happened, bent rods etc or just plain siezed? …

Anyone ever had a sill replaced on a Z ? Mine look real good as long as you don`t get too close but its only a matter of time. How much moolah am I looking at...any ideas?

Just to let you know that I've got a complete leather interior for sale. Includes front and rear seats. Dark grey in colour (almost black really). Electric drivers AND passenger seat. Also heated drivers and passenger seats. Includes the switches for the heated seats. Just in time for winter :-) Anyway, I'm after £500 for them seeing as they've got all the bells and whistles. Anyone recommend somewhere in the midlands that can check out my suspension alignment properly. Figure I'll probably need it adjusted since I've fitted wheels/shocks/springs and tie rods and not had it checked since.

Hi Guys, I have traced the problem with my 300 to the Fuel Pump. I have a small problem now though. In Bahrain all of the nissan people do not stock virtually ANY parts for the 300. I wqant to know if any other Nissan fuel pump is the same or will be OK to fix to my 300. I have seen some on courtasy nissan but the will take about 4 weeks to get here!!! I need on ASAP. So what do you guys think. Do the Mitsubishi 3000 ones fit, i know that a lot of mitsi things fit the 300's but im not sure about the fuel pump. also how much is one from the nissan stealership in the uk. My girlfriend is coming over to Bahrain in about 2 weeks so that could also be an option …
