Well my Zed spent a week in Torque IC's workshop in Ashford and has now returned fully serviced and runs much better than ever. I had the RPS Clutch and Flywheel kit that I got from Smithy installed. This makes a huge difference. Much quicker off the mark, engine breaking is also improved but you have to be carefull not to stall it in traffic. Also had some cooler HKS's plugs fitted. They also removed the silencer that was in my exhaust, sounds awesome (though much louder). Feels a bit quicker to, maybe it's my imagination but I wonder whether the silencer was sapping some power. During the service they found a small black tube inserted by the fuel…

Had a bit of a race with a Sierra Cossie, he was ever so slightly faster up to 80, then started reeling him in. He even had flame comming from his exhaust when he changed gear :D Good bloke though, got a wave too. I do think he'll need a new engine / turbo's soon from the ammount of blue smoke comming out of the back, had to switch my aircon to recirc to stop being gassed! Disclaimer: My car is completely standard :D Mike

It's dumb question time :) Since Courtesy refer to left hand drive cars, do I still need one driver side and one passenger side sensor for my UK spec car to get the correct cable lengths

Went past one of those damn speed enforcemnt vans today and pretty sure it was in use since I could see quasimodo sat behind the camera in the back of the van. Only problem is my Valentine One didn't make a peep. Went past it again after cleaning the lens just to make sure. :) It's a model that is only a year old and claims to cover European frequencies so are the filth using using a new range of frequencies or have I missed something.

On my ever increasing list of things to do I've started properly thinking about wheels... ideally I'd like some multi-spoked ones BMW alpina style, but notice that there's nothing on the ZCentre site which looks right.. hoping for 12+ spokes, at least 7. Does anybody know a good one that also meets the diameter requirements?!

Just in case your ever tempted to try rad sealer to stop water loss in a Zed then take a look at the pic attached, after distmantling this engine for a timing belt change you can see how it has settled in the inlet pipe. The consistancy was like very rough rock hard sand and took some removing. Both inlets were the same the thermostat was jammed slightly open and the rubber top and bottom hose to the rad were full of it albeit not set so hard and when the water pump was removed the galley that feeds it was about half size! These products are maybe exceptable on other cars but definately not on a zed. Jeff TT

The guy who was selling the Zed that I went to see the other day phoned me to ask if I wanted to P/X my VTS for his Zed. I took my VTS to him tonight, he said he'll accept my VTS (minus personal plate and ICE) and £800 cash. He'll tax the Z for a year and service it on monday, he'll also fix the two minor probs with the car. I'm thinking of offering him £500 cash and my car to see what he says. It's a UK white L-reg, auto, 97,000 miles, with all service history even oil changes and a receipt for a timing chain at 90,000 miles. MOT till Jan04 and Tax till Feb04. Leather interior and it looks pretty immaculate. I'm going to have a look and drive on Tuesday …

Hi all, While undoing everthing to do my timing belt, my mechanic pointed out to me that my sub frame is rusting away. At one point there is a hole I can put my finger through. He suggested that I treat it, fill the hole with waxseall, fix the whole with fibreglass then waxseal the complete subframe. Any ideas if that'll be OK? Why would it have rusted so bad? There are no signs of a rad leak, I've always had the plastic undershield on so I would presume that would stop the water from coming upwards. The only thing I can think of is that water has been held onto the subframe by the plastic undershield as that's what it screws on to. How would the subfram…

All, Has anyone else noticed this: It's quite specific so bear with me while I explain! Basically, when I come to a stop, and depress the clutch, I can sometimes hear a quite quiet knocking sound. The sound is coming from the front - sounds like it's behind the engine (towards me) but fairly low down. It also stops after a few knocks, as if something's been moved by the clutch and is bouncing back to rest. I've not totally pinpointed it - it could be the stopping of the car that's doing it (which would make sense if say a hose was loose or something) - but I've got a hunch that it's the pressing of the clutch that's doing it. I don't generally hear it in normal …

Hi All, This is doing my nut in!! Some geezer's supposed to be sending me a replacement loom for my auto/man conversion. It's the last part that I need and I (and my mechanic) have been waiting for it for over 2 weeks now :-( still not been sent. I'm not convinced it ever will be - cheque went in post almost 3 weeks ago, don't think it's been cashed yet but Gnat West are offering their usual crap web service at the mo' so I can't check. Does anyone know how to adapt the loom from the auto TT to make all the electrics work with the manual? I'm sure it must be possible - anyone tried it? Failing that, anyone got a Manual one gathering dust? Or anyone in Brist…

There are a lot of companies that supply bits and bobs for the Z in the USA ,these are generally cheaper than what we can get it for over there. Saying that when you add on the postage and the dreaded tax, then the savings aren't usually that great. I've got relatives in the US, so if I ordered something and got it sent to them and they then sent it on to me, would that be a way of avoiding the tax? Anyone know? Cheers, F.T.

My rear passenger tyre keeps going down. I have taken it to my local tyre place and they testing it and there is no puncture and the valves are fine. Could it be possible that the alloy is actually leaking? I know it can happen but is this what it is like? Today my rear was down to 12psi :( and it was at the correct pressure about a week ago, yet there is no visable nail or hole and the valve is fine and there is no puncture. Any ideas what it could be? Stuart
